    My MIL got us....

Well, does it need cleaning? My SIL and my mother, bless their hearts, are the worst housekeepers on the planet. It's fine for them to live in that mess, but it would be nice if they had enough respect for their guests to clean the place before the holidays. It's very disrespectful to guests...

    My MIL got us....

People get a bad case of the "gimmes' at Christmas. We send gifts to my ILs, but I don't expect anything in return. No one has a right to a present. They give gifts to our kids and I'm grateful for that. They don't give gifts to my husband or to me. We're adults. We pay for our own toys.

How much do you pay your housekeepers?

I make six figures. I clean my own house, work full time, and have two kids. My grandma was a cleaning lady. I'd be embarrassed to have someone else clean my house for me. I'm an adult. I can keep my own stuff straight. I have good organizational skills and a good work ethic, though.

    Atheists and Celebrating Christmas...?

The early church took over the feast of Mithras, and then weaned their converts off of pagan holidays like Yule, Saturnalia and Koleda. http://www.religionfacts.com/greco-roman/sects/mithraism.htm

    Atheists and Celebrating Christmas...?

Yes. The Greek letter Chi is written as "X" and was used by the church as shorthand for "Christ." "Xmas" = "Christmas" for church leaders educated in Greek.

    Atheists and Celebrating Christmas...?

:rotfl: Before you get your panties in a bunch about the supposed hypocrisy of non-Christians co-opting the winter holiday, you might want to take a look in the mirror. The winter holiday was originally a pagan celebration of the return of the sun at the Winter Solstice. The early Christian...

    Teenage girls - UGH!!

It's racist. Wigger stands for "white ******." It's refused to refer to white kids who "act black," instead of "acting white." The very fact that people had a name for kids who "act black" is racist. Just because you didn't understand that it's racist, doesn't mean that it isn't racist...

    Teenage girls - UGH!!

If someone called one of my kids' friends a ****** and my kid busted that person in the mouth for it, I would be okay with that. I would tell my child that he has to face the school consequences because it was against the rules, but I wouldn't impose any additional consequences. Sometimes you...

"Mothers don't stop Getting angry with stupid bigots who (mess) with their children!"

You know, I'm a Catholic and Protestent Christians drive me nuts when they pray in public. They make me even more nuts when they run for public office and think their moral stance should influence the laws in this country. I think they need serious mental help. They're heretics! Some things are...

Easy breakfast a teenager can make?

Also, savory quiches can be made ahead and then microwaved. I like bacon and cheese quiche myself.

Easy breakfast a teenager can make?

Look at some breakfast suggestions from Atkins Diet books or Dukan diet books. Hard boiled eggs can be left in the refrigerator and require no cooking. Cottage cheese and yogurt, same thing. Carnation Instant Breakfast might work. Fruit and cheese might also work, too.

Suggestion for supplemental formula for BF baby?

My kids did very well with Enfamil. Every baby is different and tolerates different formulas. Ask your doctors for samples to try.

    How young for contacts?

I got my first contacts when i was 12. They were the kind that had to be cleaned and sterilized every day. It was fine. I would have no problem letting a 12 year old or a responsible 11 year old wear disposable contacts that are replaced every two weeks.

Why was there a Day 2 meltdown when Day 1 was so good?

I think most kids have a point where they're tired and want to get out of the parks. They're just DONE with it. My kids do very well with afternoon breaks. We hit it hard in the morning and then take a break in the afternoon and then go back for some (slower) touring in the evening. It...

Chicago Children's Museum vs. St. Louis' Magic House

I've been to both. I think Magic House is better (and much bigger since the expansion) but the Chicago Children's Museum is very nice. It's definitely worth doing. CCM does have nicer water tables which my kids loved.

    Tall shoes

I've never had a cast member ask my child to take his shoes off to be measured. At the same time, I always make sure that my kids have shoes with thick soles on, instead of a thin-soled pair of shoes. (Their Nike sandals are cute, but the sole is very thin.) Sketchers are pretty thick...
