Zombie Apocalypse and Pixie Dust - A 2 week Disneymoon (PTR link 11/14)

I just discovered the Drawing class last time I was there, and happily got Mickey :goodvibes The Animation Studio is great for all the characters you can meet and the drawing class. It's one of the things I'm looking forward to most next month :goodvibes

I had no idea that all those characters come out at night! I guess because we're never at the park around that time. :confused3 I think on the next trip that just Miguel and I take, we're going to try stay at DHS all day - shocking for us! But, as I was putting our itinerary together for this trip, I found so many things that I couldn't fit in because of trying to get us back to the hotel for a break by 3. I don't think I realized just how much there is to do there. So, your TR has inspired me to see more of DHS! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear where you try to eat!

Can I just say I am flabbergasted (I love that word. Yes, I'm a nerd, I know :P) that I have over 30,000 thousand views on thsi TR?! WOW!!! It's really awesome as I never thought the TR would be this popular! :woohoo: so let me take this moment to thank all of the lurkers and readers. :wizard:

And to all of you that have posted or post regularly, an even bigger THANK YOU! I love coming in here and reading your comments and having the chance to have conversations with you. :goodvibesprincess:

I'm really glad that you said something to the doctor. I hope that your next US will be much more pleasant! I totally understand why you were disappointed.

What great character interactions! I'll have to take DD there next trip!

Love the ToT pic. How funny!

I'm really hoping our next US is great. :)

I suggest showing up at the animation building around 5pm. That is when the random characters start coming out. Not only that, but I've read they they rotate during the next two hours, meaning you could meet even more than I did. I showed up pretty late, and caught them not too long before they went back in.

Awesome sauce on the report! Glad to hear that you enjoy drawing in the Art of Animation building I wish I could draw like that. For me I just can't draw for crap but I might give it a go when I go there again. I loved the interactions between The Queen from Snow White and Captain Hook here are the things I wanna do if I ever get up close to them: for the evil queen, I wanna go up to her and say to her: "I live to serve you my liege! I wish to be your huntsman and kill Snow White!" and as for Captain Hook...well let's just say it's got something to do with a little word that starts with a "C" and ends with an "ish". Looks like your baby or "Peanut" as you call it seems to getting close every day.

Don't sell yurself short on the drawing! This year I've been teaching my grade 5 students how to draw the characters I learned last summer. A few of them struggle a lot, but most of them are doing pretty good!

Wow, you have some great ideas for interactions with the characters! I can never think of anything good to say!

Hi Mel, great update - I had never heard about all the characters coming out in the early evenings at DHS.. thanks for the tip, I will remember that for this summer's trip as I think DH's niece will want to meet lots of characters! :cutie:

Glad to hear you have another ultrasound planned, the first one didn't sound very satisfying & I can imagine it must be frustrating for you and Ron still not knowing if you're having a boy or girl

Emma princess: x

As I mentioned above, I think showing up around 5pm is the best time to see the most characters possible. I'm sure your niece will love it!

Finding out if we are expecting a boy or a girl will help so much with the shopping. I can't decide on anything right now!

That drawing class is number one on my list of things to do at DHS this trip! I have GOT to do it!!

Love the TOT story! That's the kind of thing that makes it fun...especially when you do something over and over again...

Yes, you have to try the drawing class. It's tons of fun. And if you get a really good animator, you can even learn some fun facts about Disney. :)

TOT is always a great ride, but when something hilarious like that happens it makes it even better. :thumbsup2

I was lurking through some TRs and saw yours! When I saw 2 weeks Disney Honeymoon, I knew it would be interesting and full of excitement! Hope you don't mind me subbing in :) Congratulations on the pregnancy, so exciting! :) :)

:welcome: and thank you! Of course I don't mind you subbing. The more readers the better. :goodvibes

Lucky you, you got to draw the classic! I'm really hoping for Stitch next time. But really, even though I may be disappointed when the animator announces someone I like less, in the end I enjoy drawing it anyway. :) Can't wait to see who you get to draw next! Don't forget to take a picture. ;)

You and I have such different touring styles. Both have their own advantages, so it's great to try the other once in a while. :goodvibes Ron really dislikes going back to the resort for a break, so when planning that Disneymoon I searched real hard to find ways to take "breaks" in the park. Shows and long rides are great because you get to sit down for an extended period of time. And inside activities like the drawing class or characterpalooza are also good because they are indoors so no rain or heat! I'm glad I inspired you to stay longer at DHS next time! :thumbsup2

great updates! so sorry I have been MIA! Im so excited that your dr is letting you get another US! I was going to suggest calling and explaining your situation, glad you did and even more glad to know sex of the baby!! I get a feeling you tink it is a he.. am I right :D

It's okay, I know life happens. I was pretty absent most of November/December as well.

Ever since the first (12 weeks) ultrasound I have had the feeling that Peanut is a boy. But I have to admit, I'm not so confident anymore...

I have never heard of Characterpalooza before this! It sounds AMAZING! Meeting the villians would be so much fun. Your picture with the Evil Queen is great!

No way please make it a boy! I don't want a girl! I don't want Rommel surrounded by baby girls just like I'm surrounded by girls on my college course!

well it's been a great read so far and what attracted me to your TR was the title of your TR. Love anything that has zombies in it and good luck with your new ultrasound and lets hope this time you get to see more of peanut and for sure the sex. I am still saying boy....take care and can't wait to read more.

HOW did I manage to miss so many updates?! GAH! I fail!!

Aren't the red velvet cupcakes just AMAZING, heavenly! WOW tasty. I'm glad you enjoyed the stunt shows! I like them, but I defintely dont have to go every time. Love the ToT pics!!

I wanted to post an update today, but the Disboards are wayyyyyyy too slow. It took me forever just to upload this reply page. I don't want to imagine how long it would take to post pictures. Maybe I'll try anyway. We'll see.

Sorta Disney news
My friend who I helped plan a Disney trip for her, her disabled sister and their mom is suppose to come back from the World tonight. I cannot wait to hear how their trip went, and if her sister liked the gift I bought for her and had delivered to their room!!!

Pregnancy news
I've been super congested all weekend. It could be a cold (Ron was sick all week), but I have no other symptoms. I'm thinking it's more pregnancy related. Either way, it's really annoying. Ugh!

Wednesday is my ultrasound done at the private clinic. I'm so excited! :cool1: I have a feeling it's going to go much better than the one I had done at the hospital. plus, I'll get to see my baby in 3D, which I'm sure will be ultra cool. My brother thinks 3D ultrasounds are creepy and doesn't want to see it. :rotfl:

I have never heard of Characterpalooza before this! It sounds AMAZING! Meeting the villians would be so much fun. Your picture with the Evil Queen is great!

Characterpalooza is amazing! Some of the characters that come out are quite common, but if you are lucky you should get the chance to meet some pretty rare ones! The level of crowdedness depends on the weather outside. If it's raining, then lines will probably be longer.

No way please make it a boy! I don't want a girl! I don't want Rommel surrounded by baby girls just like I'm surrounded by girls on my college course!

I really want a girl, so :P

Another example of my pregnancy brain : I had NO idea what you were talking about. I had to go and reread to realize that you were probably anwsering my thank you to readers and posters. :upsidedow

Thank you. :goodvibes I knew I would have a hard time coming up with a catchy title for the TR, so all throughout the trip I would write things we said or that were happening that I thought might be good enough. I figured Zombies were different enough. Most of the other contenders for titles ended up as chapter titles.

I have a good vibe going in to this next ultrasound, so hopefully I'm right. I have a feeling Peanut is more of a night owl (like his mommy and daddy), so chances are he/she will be more active around dinner time than 8 in the morning. :thumbsup2

Shame on you for missing so many updates! Just kidding, of course!

Red velvet cupcakes are the best. I even told my SIL (who will be planning my baby shower) that it would be a great idea to have that should she decide not to do a cake. Or heck, why not a red velvet cake? popcorn::

Yeah, the stunt shows are fun, but something we'll probably skip for the next few trips. We'll go back when Peanut is old enough to enjoy them, unless Ron DD wants to watch them before that.

I love the TOT pic as well. If only I was not doing a squirrel face though... :rolleyes1

Can't wait to hear about your U/S on Wednesday. I had one last Sunday. Sure, it was just to check follicle size, but at least it makes me feel as though the baby-making is moving forward! =)

Day 7 part 9 - Best Night Ever cont'd : Delicious Food
August 17th, 2011

Before we even left for the trip, Ron had gotten it into his head that we were going to walk up to a restaurant at some point in the trip. I'm not sure exactly why he wanted to do this so much, but there was no making him budge. Well, tonight was the night. I didn't mind much as really, there are not any particularly good CS in DHS.

It was already 8:30pm by then, so we figured we had a decent chance of getting in somewhere. What restaurant had Ron selected for this walking-up thingy you might ask? The Brown Derby. (I don't think anybody got it right on the quiz, though I would have to go back and check for sure).

The picture was obviously taken at a different time, but I figured we needed one. We got a little worried as we first approached the restaurant as there were quite a few people just outside of it. Our fears were unfounded, as we entered into a completely empty lobby. There were two employees standing being the check-in podium. One was the host, but the other one seemed to be a bit higher up. We ask if by any chance they have some availability. They check and quickly say yes. The higher up guy leaves to I guess get our table ready, while the host takes our information. He asked if we are celebrating anything and when we say "our honeymoon" he said he's even more happy that they are able to find us a seat. The host told us it would be about 5 minutes before we get seated, so we sat down on one of the couches. I took out my camera and started taking pictures of the lobby.

DSC03399.jpg

This is the only one I was able to take as they were already calling us! It literally only took 30 seconds to be seated!! Wow, things were off to a good start. We were led to a quaint little table for two overlooking the lower part of the restaurant. Here's our view.

We placed our order, then I went the the restroom. I startled a girl just by walking in. :rotfl: When I came back we tried taking a picture of ourselves using the timer.

DSC03404.jpg

A couple at a table nearby offered to take one for us, so here's the result.

DSC03405.jpg

We spent a few minutes chatting with that couple. They were pretending to have a romantic "adult" meal, complete with wine and fancy food, while their 2 children were sitting next to them, busy playing with their video games (they had already eaten). It seems their plan worked, as we did not hear the children at all during the meal.

Ron ordered the Filet Mignon. He switched the side to sweet mashed potatoes, which apparently means he gets no other sides at all, not even vegetables. Maybe they thought he wanted to switch everything?

DSC03409.jpg

He liked it, but not as much as his steak at Kona or meal at Fulton's.
I got the citrus herb marinated chicken with orzo pasta.

DSC03408.jpg

It was DELICIOUS!!!!!! Honestly the best chicken I have ever eaten. The mix of flavors was quite unusual, but so good. I would love to have it again, and have never been able to find anything remotely close ever since.

At the end of the meal we got surprised with two mini glasses of champagne and a chocolate mousse with Mickey head sprinkles. How nice!!

I mentioned celebrating our honeymoon on all my ADRs online, yet it's at the one place we walked up to last minute that we got something special. All in all, it was a great meal and I hope we get to go back one day. Even though it's suppose to be a signature meal, it ended up not being any more expensive than Kona or Via Napoli (coming later).

As had become usual, we got lots of "congratulations" all day, and so did we as we made our way out of the park. We stopped for one last photopass in front of the hat.

Somehow our timing was so that we exited and took a bus along with everyone else leaving the first Fantasmic showing. We had to stand on the bus, but it doesn't really matter because it left quickly and the ride back to POP was only 5 minutes.

It was such an AMAZING day, and especially evening. I was charged up with adrenaline! So much so that we started possibly coming back a third time at the end of our trip, instead of going to Magic Kingdom 3 times. Will we do it? You'll just have to wait and see...

The bus ride calmed me down a little, but I still had enough energy to skip down the hallway towards our room, to the tune of "Be Our Guest".

CHARACTERS TODAY:
Mike Wazowski
Sully
Evil Queen
Captain Hook

Up Next, Epcot (sorry, nothing catchy here)

I really want a girl, so :P

In that case, you can forget about getting me a present for my birthday! Which happens to be the 25th Feburary.

Anyways nice report on the restaurant but other that nothing special there. I still say boy!

That is wonderful that you were able to get into The Brown Derby with just a walk-in. The food looks great, and yay for a surprise dessert at the end of the meal :goodvibes

I was kind of in a rush earlier, so I just updated the TR title now to say I added an update earlier today.

Can't wait to hear about your U/S on Wednesday. I had one last Sunday. Sure, it was just to check follicle size, but at least it makes me feel as though the baby-making is moving forward! =)

I had no idea that you were pregnant! I thought I had subbed to your PTR, but guess I forgot so I missed all the updates. How nice that you got to see the baby, no matter how small it is at this point! :goodvibes

The restaurant was a nice surprise and a great ending to a great day. :)

It was really neat to be able to walk-in so easily. The restaurant was at least half-full I'd say, but I guess not many people make ADRs so late, especially when Fantasmic is going on. I don't think many more people got in after us. At least I didn't really notice any. And even better that we enjoyed our food and had great service. :thumbsup2

Nursery Ideas

I've been juggling ideas in my mind for the nursery theme. All I know so far is I'd like to have the walls painted turquoise. It's my favorite color, and I figure it's neutral enough that if I end up having a boy and a girl (I'd like to have two kids eventually, and they will share a bedroom), it would fit both. All I know is I love BRIGHT colors. No pastels for me, nor neutral tones. I find it too boring.

Even though the walls will be sorta neutral, as will be most bigger items, I'm thinking the crib bedding will be more themed. If it's a girl I have many ideas, such as Butterflies, Fairies or The Little Mermaid. princess: If it's a boy... not so much. :confused3 Some ideas I've had include pirates or jungle animals. The one that seems to stick to my mind though is ocean/underwater creatures. I could go with the more kid-like images, such as these:
oceancribbedding.jpg

However, what I would really really love is to theme it around two reproduction paintings I have. They are based on this artist called Schim Schimmel. I have this one (though the blue looks brighter, less greay):
dolphin-oil-by-schim-schimmel1.jpg

I can't find the image of the other one I have, but it's similar to this:
p-Schimmel_11.jpg

Here's a collage of other paintings by him to give you an idea of his style:
schimmel.jpg

I love the contrast of the black with the bright colors, the realism of the animals and the surrealism of the animals being in space. I found one set of crib bedding that had realistic under water animals like this, but it was so darn expensive!

Anyone have any ideas on how I could incorporate these paintings into a theme, or where I could find good crib bedding for a reasonable price?

I'm so glad you were able to get in at the Brown Derby, and that you enjoyed your meal! That is one restaurant that I go back and forth on as to whether or not we'd enjoy it. The dish you had sounds so good! Between that and the famous grapefruit cake we might just have to try it out sometime. :thumbsup2

I love the idea of a bright nursery! I'm so excited to find out what you're having! :woohoo:

Is it a boy?! Is it a girl?! Ooh the tension's so high you could plow through it with a combine harvester! (Singing) And I'll give you the key! Come on now let's get together in perfect harmony! I've got 20 acres and you got 43! Now I've got a new combine harvester and I'll give you the key! Yeah!

I can't believe you were able to walk up to Brown Derby! I am glad you had a good meal there-- DH and I enjoyed it when we went there a few years back. =)

As for the nursery, I like the undersea/realistic animals idea. Have you thought about just getting plain bedding? You don't really need a crib bumper0-- some people say they are dangerous, after all, and I don't know of a single kid who actually slept with the blanket it comes with-- it was too stiff to really enjoy, I think.

You could just get a bed skirt in white and a crib sheet in another color and be "done." Sure it isn't very exciting, but it would be much less expensive!

Or, you could get a set from a site like this. Pretty expensive, though. I could stay three nights at POP for that price, LOL!

I think the grey would be very nice, though, although the fabric is organic so it costs more. There are plenty of non-organic options, it seems... Not sure if they ship to Canada, though.

Do you sew? You could always make your own solid color bedding as well.

Ron's food at Brown Derby was good, but average. My chicken, however, was superb. I have also heard about a few very good choices there, so I would say you and Miguel should definitely try it at some point. :thumbsup2

If I could, my entire house would be in bright colors. But, hum, Ron said no to that. So I said fine, but you have no say in how the nursery ends up. :rotfl:

I'm am so so excited too! Only 24 hours and I'll get to see Peanut again!!

I was surprised at how easily and fast we got at table by jsut walking up to the Brown Derby. But I'm guessing the late hour and Fantasmic might have had something to do with it. Either way I don't care, I jsut care that I had a great meal. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the ideas for the nursery. I was planning on buying a breathable bumper anyway (just regular brown, like the crib), so I really don't need a fancy one. And it's true that I could go for solid color fabrics. That link you gave has some really nice ones, but yes they are expensive. I'm sure I could find a place close by that sells solid color bedding. I'll just have to do more research on that. And if I do save money on not buying a full bedding set, maybe I can spend that money on someone painting a mural on the wall. :wizard:

As for sewing, we had a home economic class back in high school and I'm pretty sure the teacher did not fail me only out of pity. :rotfl2: I spent that whole class "unsewing" the mess I had made. I cannot sew a straight life to save my life, which is why I pay 10$ to get the hem of every single pair of pants I buy done. :rotfl:

ETA. Why did my post appear above yours, even though I posted 45 minutes after you? Clocks must be off.
