You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

I also meant to ask, how is your sis doing? I know you said that she had to have her tonsils out over break, did she have them out already?

I meant to ask the same thing. I thought about it when I think you said something on FB, but then forgot to follow up. Hope she made it through the procedure and recovery very well.

Just jumping in and trying to catch up! Page 25 so far! haha :rotfl:

It is soooo cool that you two got to meet in WDW! It must have been soo nice to finally see each other in person!

Can't wait to read more about your trip! I'm trying to play catch-up now!

I love your description of how you 4 just sat there for a looooong time over Dole Whips. :cloud9: There's just no better place than to deepen a friendship- such sweet memory, Girls!!! Treasure it!

Hey Tink & Kristen! It's been a while and I miss all my disfriends. I hope you girls are doing good!

I love that saying.. it's so inspiring!
And that pic of you two is very cute!

Sounds like yet another magical time for you 4! Your updates are seriously getting me SO EXCITED for my trip coming up. I've been getting my Disney fix by living through you all vicariously for the past few months!

Aw, I loved this entry. I think some of the best memories come from just hanging out with friends and family, talking and bonding. To have it happen at Disney is just even better. What a special bond you gals have now!

Also, love riding BTMRR at night. So fun.

Aww, what a nice night! We haven't done Monsters Inc yet but hope to this trip-- seems like it will be funny!
I agree completely-- the best trip moments are usually the most simple. Soaking in the atmosphere just talking with the ones you love!

You'll have to do Monsters, Inc.. It is funny!

They are some of the best moments, that's for sure!

I also meant to ask, how is your sis doing? I know you said that she had to have her tonsils out over break, did she have them out already?

I meant to ask the same thing. I thought about it when I think you said something on FB, but then forgot to follow up. Hope she made it through the procedure and recovery very well.

She's actually doing well! The first week wasn't so great. Her pain kept getting worse and worse. But, after that first week was over, she started getting better. She's eating normal food now and starting to talk like normal again!

Just jumping in and trying to catch up! Page 25 so far! haha :rotfl:

It is soooo cool that you two got to meet in WDW! It must have been soo nice to finally see each other in person!

Can't wait to read more about your trip! I'm trying to play catch-up now!

Welcome!! And thanks for getting all caught up! I know we're so SLOW at posting updates, but it's so hard with jobs and school and wedding planning!

I love your description of how you 4 just sat there for a looooong time over Dole Whips. :cloud9: There's just no better place than to deepen a friendship- such sweet memory, Girls!!! Treasure it!

Thanks Liesa!!

July 26, 2010

Ring! Ring! Ring! The alarm went off around 6:30. I was actually excited to wake up because we were eating breakfast at the Grand Floridian Café. Sis, on the other hand, was not. She is not a morning person, even at WDW. So, we did our best to avoid her until it was time to go, haha!

We left the room a little after 8 and headed to the bus stop. We didn’t have to wait too long for a MK one to pull up. As we walked towards the monorail station, we always have to walk over and say hi to our stone.

Of course, it was torture to walk right past the entrance and not be going in. The MK has always been and will always be my favorite park. We could see the crowd building up, with everyone waiting for the opening show. I got flashbacks of Fiancé and I’s Spring Break trip. It was our first time ever seeing the opening show and doing rope drop at the MK. It was magical. I cried, of course. I still have pictures of the show on my phone, which I look at often.

Anyways..we walked up the ramp and got in line. Maybe 2 minutes later, a monorail pulled up. We sat there forever with the doors open, so I took pics:

The inside view of the Mickey balloon decorations:

And we sat and waited some more. I started panicking because I didn’t want to miss our breakfast ADR. The CM comes on and announces that they’re having technical difficulties. So, we decided to abort the monorail idea and headed down to the Resort boats. One was there, but it had just filled up. So while we were waiting for the next boat, the opening show had started so I had to take a pic. You can see Mickey if you look close:

And as we left the MK dock, we had a perfect view of the sky writer:

And seriously, as we left the MK dock, the monorail that we were on left the station!!! Ugh!!

As we arrived at the GF, I started getting all giggly. The GF will always hold a special place in my heart because that’s the first place I ever stayed when I was 3. We stayed there for several trips, and then it was Sis’s first place she ever stayed when she was 3. Even though it was so long ago, I still have vivid memories. Plus, we have so many great pictures from there. One of my favorites: Dad holding Sis and I as we look out at the Seven Seas Lagoon from our balcony as the sun’s coming up. Oh and we felt like celebrities because we always had little robes from the room to wear to the pool. I was pointing everything out to Fiancé. Which he’s heard. For the thousandth time. Haha!

Walk with us to the main building…

As you can see, the Resort is beautiful and it was so peaceful that morning. Until we got to the main building and could hear/see the construction, which you can see in the last pic.

We walked inside and Dad went to check us in right at our ADR time. We made it!

We were seated at this beautiful round table by the windows. There were some people there, but not very many. It made the whole place peaceful and nice. It was hard to believe we were at WDW because there are usually crowds and people everywhere!

Oh my gosh, the menu had so many good things! It was hard to decide what I wanted! I ended up with the Eggs Benedict, which was two poached eggs on a toasted English muffin, Canadian bacon, and Hollandaise Sauce served with asparagus.

Sis had to have a Mickey waffle:

Of course, I apologize because I didn’t write down what anyone else got!

After a great meal, we headed downstairs to the gift shops down there to look around. I ended up buying a Mickey keychain that had hot pink and light pink rhinestones. I still have it on my car keys! Then, we headed out to the bus stop to head to AK. We had to wait a little bit for a bus, which was fine since we were still really full and could hardly move! Haha!

We finally made it on a bus and were on our way. Again, the ride to AK can seem long, but the anticipation always starts to build up. Then, to the right side of the bus, you see EE. If you’re like us, you can’t wait to get on it! But first, we checked out the wait times on the board. Dinosaur said 5 minutes and EE said 30, so we decided to head to Dinosaur while Dad got us FP’s for EE. It was literally a walk on!!

Heading into the pre-show:

403-1.jpg

This is where we stand in the back and quote the show word for word. I even get into it and do the hand movements. Especially when Mrs. Huxtable (aka Dr. Marsh in this show) does the whole “The truth is truly in the past” bit. Haha. Okay, I think I annoy Sis and Fiancé a little.

Of course, the ride was fun as usual. We made it back in time before the asteroid hit! Whew! Our ride pic was hilarious as usual. We forgot to take a redneck pic of it though!

We met back up with Dad and decided what to do next. Of course, Sis wanted to look in the shops, so they headed that way while Fiancé and I wanted to do the trails.

404-1.jpg

We went right into the first trail that has an entrance by ITTBAB. Our first sighting:

405.jpg

They are:

406-1.jpg

And they live:

407-1.jpg

Then, we saw somebody swimming up and we immediately recognized them. We saw them on our Spring Break trip when they were just babies. I admit, I cried a little and talked to them like we were old friends.

408.jpg

Finally, Fiancé talked me into leaving them. We walked by a pretty secluded area. You can start to see the Tree of Life carvings by now.

409-1.jpg

Up and around the corner, is the Tree of Life in all its glory. We could stand there for hours just taking in all the details. It’s so neat to know so much about it from the Travel Channel specials and my Hidden Secrets book.

410-1.jpg

Down around the other side, we could walk right up to some carvings.:

414-1.jpg

Then, it was the end of the trail, so we were on to the next one. We headed into Africa.

Were we decided to stop and have one of our favorite drinks thanks to Kristen: Lost on a Safari.

**Continued from previous**

We sat at the same table we sat at on our Spring Break trip. Of course, it’s by the entrance to Tusker House, so I got sad and thought of Little Guy.

Not too much later, these guys came out to perform:

420-1.jpg

They were great as usual. It’s always fun to dance along to the music.

As we headed to our next trail, I had to take a pic of this building because I love how the blue is so vibrant and just pops out:

We were headed to Pangani:

Then, it was time for the last trail:

Which we were excited about one thing:

434-1.jpg

We finally did the trails for the first time on our Spring Break trip and fell in love. Each of the trails has something to offer. And it seems like so many people just walk past them.

We met back up with Mom, Dad, and Sis and headed to EE to use our FP’s for 12:35-1:35. Here’s some pics Sis took while they were checking out the different shops.:

akdisney430.jpg

akdisney431.jpg

As we headed through the EE line and to the loading area, I started getting those butterflies. You know, the ones where something exciting is about to happen. Of course, the whole ride, we all ended up laughing. It’s just one of those rides. And as we went up the big incline, we all turned to our left and looked way back to see the MK and the Contemporary. When I got that glimpse of the Contemporary, I immediately flashed back on our week before with the rest of the family. Can you see that’s a reoccurring theme with me? I was missing them a lot, especially Little Guy.

We met back up with Dad and decided what to do next. They were getting hungry and wanted to go check out AKL. Fiancé and I were still full from breakfast, and it was HOT out, so him and I decided to head back to OKW and swim. After they were done at AKL, they were going to meet us at the pool.

~Up next for tinkgurl: Our split afternoon and AK night with Kristen and Chris

Nice update! I love mornings at AK, but I do think you were missing the others- I can hear it in your writing.

Your breakfast sounded lovely too. I need to look at that menu again; everything you talked about sounded super yummy!!!

Great Update :) I loved the picture of sis's mickey waffle, it looked like a pic that a professional food photographer would take :)

Love the AK update, Tink! You know I love that park. :)

I agree about the trails. You have to do them because they're so much fun and you never know what you're going to find.

You're so right about the trails! They are my favorite thing at Animal Kingdom. I could watch the gorillas for hours - they are fascinating!

I love Grand Floridian.. I would love to stay there.. it doesn't really fit DH though. I first want to stay at AKL, and then I'll stay at GF! ;)

Your sister sounds like DH when it comes to getting up early.. Your breakfast sounds amazing.

The one thing I hate about eating at different resorts- the transportation there. If your not at a park it always seems like a hassle.. and I'm a little worried about my parents getting annoyed by it. Although, we are only eating at 2 resorts. And I swear it never fails- when your running late- something happens. hehe

I loveeee the picture you took of the river viewing the tip of EE. It's soo beautiful and the sky is soo bright.

We love the trails! It's so fun to watch the tigers and the gorillas going about their business while we lurk and snap pictures.

Grand Floridian is so beautiful. It has grown on me over the past few years. :) I hope to stay there a night or two at some point. Probably on a girls' trip.

Your sister and my sister sound similar! Mine is not a morning person at ALL. I'm not in the real world, but in Disney, I am perfectly okay with getting up early. My sister is not. Go figure.

Yeah...we missed the trails on our last trip, sadly. I really, really want to walk them the next time we go. I'm strange and really love the bats, I just think they have the cutest little faces!

Your sister's waffle looked yummy! GFC is on my list of the restaurants I want to try.

I get so excited when I see EE from the bus and the butterflies kick in as soon as I hop on line to ride it. Love that ride :)
