You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

Aww, you guys got great princess pictures! There must be something so special about eating in the castle.

I love that picture of the giant trying to break-into Sir Mickey's. I've never been in that shop, so had no idea that was in there.

Thanks glennbo! He's a neat little detail!

Your sister being nervous before HM reminds me of my sister! One year, a CM scared the crap out of her by sticking his head in the doom buggy at the very last second -- not yelling or anything, just sticking his head in. She got so scared :rotfl: She doesn't let me get in the buggy first now, she has to get in first so it doesn't happen again to her.

Your mom's bag is wicked cute, I love it :goodvibes

Glad you guys had a good dinner at CRT and can't wait to read about your night with Kristen and Chris!

haha, Sounds like our sisters had similiar CM's!

The bag is really cute! They had it in either lime green or pink.

Can't wait to share it!

Awwww, I can hear the sadness in your post at not having the little guy around anymore. But I think you ended up having a fun day anyway. Lunch always looks fun in CRT.

I will definitely miss SWhite! It is one that goes WAAAAAAAAAY back to my childhood. But I'm pretty excited about the new coaster too. :thumbsup2

We did have a fun day still!

I am excited about the new ride too!

Aww, you guys got great princess pictures! There must be something so special about eating in the castle.

Thanks! You're right, eating in the Castle is magical!

The picture of the giant in the ceiling is awesome! I have never been in that store so that was really interesting to see.

I am sad for you that Little Guy had to go home early. I can't imagine going to WDW without Dylan now, although we had some great trips before he was born. There is something about their excitement that makes you feel like you are looking at something for the first time too.

Hey everyone! So glad you’re still with us. I only have a few more days to write about and then Tink can take the wheel and finish up. She’s faster at updating than I am so that should go fast lol School has been nothing but WORK, WORK, WORK for me this semester…so time consuming! I have my first observation on Friday for student teaching so wish me luck with that! On the bright side, work was dead today so I sat there and worked out our ADRs as well as park days for our June trip! I’m pretty sure I’ve got it all set, just have to go over it with Kimmy but that will have to wait because she’s in Cancun until Saturday! LUCKY!

So when you last left off with Chris and I we had made it back to Pop after a great night with Tink and her DF and had hit the hay as soon as we got to our room. The next day we woke up and I believe I was starting to feel better. Chris on the other hand was still feeling pretty crappy since he had gotten sick after I had. In any case, we started stirring around 9:00, got showered and ready and headed off to Epcot at 10:30! If I remember correctly I grabbed Poptarts on the way out the door and we each ate one on the bus ride over.

As soon as we got to Epcot we headed straight for Test Track to see what the wait time was. We had ridden Soarin’ on our first night with Tink’s family so TT was more of a priority this time around. We got over there and saw the wait time was long (I want to say it was 90 mins) so we grabbed FPs for us to return between 2:30-3:30. Oh I forgot to mention, Chris had another surprise planned for me this day! I knew that we had to leave the room by 4:00 to get to my surprise. That’s all I knew at this point. Ok back to us getting TT FPs. It was around 11:30 at this point and we were hungry! Those Poptarts weren’t very filling so we decided to get an early lunch at Sunshine Seasons, one of our favorite QS on WDW property! It worked out well that we were eating here early 1) because we were hungry and 2) because we all know what SS looks like once noon hits; a mob scene! We walked over to The Land and headed straight down to eat. It was pretty empty at this time so we quickly got our food and grabbed a table no problem! Here’s what we got:

603.jpg

Chris and I loveeeee the sandwiches they have here so we usually each get one and then cut them in half and split them. And I couldn’t resist having that DELICIOUS strawberry shortcake for dessert that I’d seen so many people here on the DIS raving about…it lived up to its hype! (Side note: I received a text from MeMom last week while they were eating lunch at SS and I was sitting at work eating a frozen Weight Watchers meal. I pretended that it was that strawberry shortcake instead! Thanks MeMom!) We really had no plans at this point except for TT later in the day and Chris was really bugging me to go ride Living with the Land. See, I usually really enjoy this ride too however on this day the line was LONG! Like weaving in and out of the whole queue long…I’ve never seen any line at all let alone one like this. But, like I said we had no plans and Chris needs a say everyone once and a while too (contrary to what I think at times haha) so after we were finished we hoped in line.

604.jpg

I always take a million pictures on this ride so this time I tried to sit back and enjoy it a little more. I did take a few though.

605.jpg

606.jpg

607.jpg

608.jpg

609.jpg

Of course, the ride was lovely and relaxing as usual. Once again we had no destination so we thought we’d head over towards SSE to give that a whirl. On the way thought, the Art of Disney store was calling our names (as was the A/C) so we went in there first. If you remember, Chris and I found a new obsession on this trip.

610.jpg

So, hard as we tried to resist, I believe we bought another one or two Vinylmations in here! Otherwise we just browsed the GORGEOUS artwork, much of which I wish we were able to buy!

611.jpg

612.jpg

613.jpg

I’m pretty sure Tink has this one!
614.jpg

615.jpg

616.jpg

After oogling the beautiful artwork we headed over to SSE.

617.jpg

Did I mention how hot it was this day? I remember it being just boiling outside. It was horrible waiting on line for SSE so I think we were pretty silent and just waited our turn! Except for me bugging Chris with the camera haha

618.jpg

Then it was time to ride through history and eventually, see our future…

620.jpg

621.jpg

622.jpg

623.jpg

Hahahaha my face was ridiculous!! We still had a good amount of time to kill before we could ride TT so we decided to try something we’d never done before…Innoventions! Like I said, it was HOTTTT this day so it was the perfect activity to get us into some A/C. I never know which Innoventions is East and which is West but the one we headed into first is the one that has the Waste Management game in it because that’s what we did first! There was actually a short line for this too as only a certain amount of people can play at once and each game takes like 15 mins.

Here’s what the game floor looks like
624.jpg

625.jpg

Basically what you do is there are two people on a team. You push around a shopping cart type thing (only heavier and way harder to maneuver) and as you move from station to station, you cart locks in under the station, registering what team you are. Each game is computerized and the locked in cart keeps track of your score as you move along. One game was sorting recycling, another was incinerating garbage, stuff like that. At the end it tells you your score and how good of recycler/waste management person you are. You get a little certificate on a computer at the end of the game that tells you how well you did too.

Our team, the Crushas (lol), did perfectly!
626.jpg

Definitely was a really cute game and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a chance to cool off or to try something new in Epcot! Next up, we walked to the other Innoventions looking for more cool games to play. On this side we played “Where’s The Fire?” In this game, all the people get split up into two teams. The setting of the game is the façade of a house and inside is split into rooms, which are really just big screens in each room. Each pair of people gets a big flashlight type thing and you have to go into a certain room to start and find the fire hazards in there. Both players in the pair have to shine their light on the fire hazard. When you clear a room of hazards, the screen tells you what room to move to next. You keep doing this (as does the rest of your team) until time is up. At the end, the team with the most points for hazards found wins! Well I will FULLY admit Chris and I took this way too seriously lol we creamed the other pairs but in the end, it helped our team win! Another game I’d totally recommend trying out!

By this time it was about 2:10 so we didn’t really have time for anymore Innoventions fun if we wanted to jump on TT at 2:30. We did have something in mind though to do before riding TT…
627.jpg

628.jpg

Frozen cokes! Yummm on a hot day! We grabbed them and found a bench in the shade and enjoyed ourselves until 2:30 arrived. Then we jumped in line for TT!

629.jpg

630.jpg

631.jpg

Loveeee TT! My only complaint is I wish it were longer! Of course at the end we have to spend some time eyeing these puppies…
632.jpg

633.jpg

So I know I haven’t mentioned this yet but since Chris had met Tink’s DF at the beginning of the week and found out that he has a Firebird, Chris was NON-STOP on craigslist.com on his phone looking for a Camaro or Firebird he could buy back at home. All of a sudden my Japanese car loving boyfriend was a Muscle car man. So this picture was for him lol
634.jpg

At this point I had spoken to Tink and I knew her family was touring Pop and had dropped off my cake with luggage services. It was about 3:00 so we got going back to Pop for me to freshen up for my surprise. When we got back, Chris had to rush to the room because nature was calling but I wanted to get my cake. So, I walked through Everything Pop and grabbed plates, silverware, milk and napkins first. Then I went on a wild goose chase for my cake! Ughhh first I went to the front desk (my fault here, Tink told me LS) and they didn’t know. Then they sent me to LS and LS first said they didn’t have it. Finally, they found it and then I had to figure a way to carry it (it was big!) with the silverware, milk etc. back to the room without dropping anything! I did manage but it was hard lol When I got back to the room I remember yelling at Chris for not coming to find me and help me haha So I opened the cake, cut us each a piece and we dug in…YUMMMM!!! Sooooo good!!! Thanks babe! Right about now Chris finally tells me what my surprise is…a 55 minute massage at the Grand Floridian spa!! I LOVE massages!! So thanks Chris and thanks Dawn for helping Chris plan another awesome surprise! Quickly I freshened up and we went down to catch a bus to the MK.

Well of course the one time we’re really in a rush, the bus took FOREVER. We were waiting over 20 minutes and an MK bus still hadn’t come. It was probably like 4:20 now and I knew that even if a bus made it there right then, I’d never make it to the GF on time. So finally we gave in and ran over to hop in one of the taxis waiting outside the Pop lobby. It worked out well because I made it there just in time for my appointment! As we were walking to the Spa building, some Disney magic hit us. A golf cart driven by 2 CMs drove past and asked us where we were going and if we wanted a ride! It was super hot so we said yes and they were SOOO nice and dropped us off right outside the spa! I headed in for my massage and sent Chris off with my camera. He said he was going to go find the bar and have a drink while he waited for me to be done. Here are the pictures he took
635.jpg

636.jpg

637.jpg

638.jpg

That’s it in 55 minutes haha He said he really enjoyed the relaxing time with his Bud Light Lime and commented on how gorgeous the GF grounds are which is an understatement. They’re amazing! My massage was WONDERFUL! Sooooo nice and relaxing. I’m pretty sure I fell asleep for a little while so I hope I didn’t snore! Haha Again, such a great surprise for my birthday.

When my massage was done it was 6:00 and we had reservations for 1900 PF at 6:45 I believe for dinner. For whatever reason I really just wasn’t feeling this reservation so Chris and I decided to walk on over to the Poly to see if by any chance they could squeeze us in for dinner at ‘Ohana. I tried not to get my hopes up but we REALLY wanted to eat there for dinner again after having tried in December ’09. It was still super hot out but a little more bearable so we just walked slowly over to the Poly. We got inside and up the stairs and just saw the MASSIVE crowds waiting up there. Up at the podium we asked how long the wait was for 2 people without reservations…a MINIMUM of 1 ½ hrs! That was obviously out of the question! So, over to the monorail station we went to head back over to the GF for 1900 PF.

We had some time to kill still before our reservations so we walked around the GF some more taking pictures…
639.jpg

640.jpg

641.jpg

642.jpg

Finally it was close enough to our ADR time that we went and checked in. I really disliked this check in system of just standing outside the closed door waiting to get seated but oh well. We got taken inside and seated right in the middle of everything next to one of the carousel horses. It was a great table! There were no characters out when we walked in so we quickly headed up to the buffet. When we got back to the table, this lovely lady came by…
643.jpg

She was SO funny! She was yelling at Chris because of all the “drawing” he had on his arms. She told him she NEVER lets her daughters draw on themselves and that he should be ashamed of himself! So funny!! Now time for some food
644.jpg

645.jpg

Everyone raves about that strawberry soup but I HATED it! Ick! I did really love that Caesar salad though for some reason lol within a few minutes, two other beauties were at our table…
646.jpg

647.jpg

648.jpg

Now they were even funnier than their mother! I forget if it was Anastasia or Drizella but one walked over and started talking about the “drawing” on Chris’ arms, too. Then she screams “MOTHER!!! WHY CAN HE DRAW ON HIS ARMS AND I CAN’T?!” across the whole restaurant! It was great! We were both hysterically laughing. Honestly, the stepsisters, stepmother and their antics made 1900 PF worth it. The food was nothing special and I really felt snubbed by Cinderella and Prince Charming. Here’s why…

We finished eating our dinner and our dessert. First, while we were up getting dessert an over achieving bus boy came over and cleared our whole table and re-set it. We had drinks that weren’t finished and everything. Luckily, our waitress noticed and brought us more drinks. Then, we finished eating dessert and were still waiting for Cinderella and PC. Cindy was RIGHT next to our table and then decided to walk over to the other side of the place instead of following the same route as every other character over to Chris and I. It was obvious to me that we are grown adults and wouldn’t be taking up much of her time. She could have easily came to us quick and then gone wherever she had to. We waited almost 20 minutes after finishing eating to finally see Cindy. Very frustrating.
649.jpg

Not sure why Chris took these lol
650.jpg

651.jpg

Finally..
653.jpg

654.jpg

I also have to say, Cindy was short! I was taller than her in flip flops and I’m assuming she had heels on…I’m only 5’5” so it kind of crushed my hopes of being a Princess one day knowing that I’m too tall lol

So that was the beginning of our day thus far…stay tuned for our exciting night with Tink, DF and the rest of the fam!

We weren't aware of the 'stand by the door' thing, either, until we saw several families get taken in in front of us. We figured we'd be called, as with every other place. Luckily, we didn't wait too long. It would just be nice to know beforehand.

We've had the character issue at Crystal Palace. One will be almost to us, then they'll do a parade, and when they start up again, they start at some random table.

GF is so pretty. Your pictures make me want to take a walk around there this evening. If we don't do 'Ohana with a big group on NYE, we'll do 1900 for dinner, since our meal was breakfast. Brooklynn would enjoy 'The Steps' and all their antics.

I could sure go for some of that Sunshine Seasons strawberry shortcake right about now!!! It's one of my favorite Disney treats.

Great update again girls!

Tink, that's so funny about little guy and Fiance! It brought back a hilarious memory of my last trip with DS and my cousin's son. They were 3 and almost 3 and we were in the bathroom outside of the stunt show at DHS changing their diapers. They very quickly realized that their voices echoed and they kept yelling. It was hilarious! Our whole party could hear them outside and they were hysterical too. Then, a woman who was clearly at the end of her vacation came out complaining about the babies and their mom's who didn't make them stop yelling. Oh well, they were enjoying a spontaneous Disney moment!

Kristen, we had the same experience at 1900 PF. I found the sisters and step-mom to be worth every penny we spent on the meal. The food was just okay. It definitely wasn't Cindy's best appearance either, although we had a little girl with us so she did come and see us on her route. DS slept through the ENTIRE meal, even with all the yelling between the sisters and their mom.

Once again, a great update girls! I'm getting so excited for our trip. I can't believe it's only 5 weeks away!!!!!

Oh the Vinylmations...I can never, ever resist them, it's so bad.

I love, love, love the stepmother and stepsisters at 1900 PF. The stepmother was very snooty and when there was this adorable little boy crying at a table near us, she turned around, pointed, and said "stop crying." We were laughing through the entire meal b/c we could hear the stepsisters screaming and the stepmother yelling back at them. When the stepsisters saw my sister and I, they both asked if we were sisters and then told us how sorry they were. They were so much fun!

Can't wait to read about yours and Tink's MK night, I absolutely love nights there!

great updates.

I think we sat at the table right behind you at 1900. We had a great time but even though we tried to get a rise from the steps they just humored us. We need a do over. ::yes::

Love the tour through Mk and dinner in the castle. Always great to have great memories and be able to relive them.

(Side note: I received a text from MeMom last week while they were eating lunch at SS and I was sitting at work eating a frozen Weight Watchers meal. I pretended that it was that strawberry shortcake instead! Thanks MeMom!)

615.jpg

I have this picture. :)

Good to hear that a simple text brightened your day. I feel the same way when I get them from people who are hanging out in my favorite place.

hahaha, sounds like a great time at 1900 Park Fare with the stepsisters.

Strawberry soup?! That sounds interesting.

Hey ladies! I just wanted to comment really quick before anything else to say that I'm still here and following along! Yall both know about Miss Mallory's birth on February 28th, so we've just been super busy with our new addition! :goodvibes

Off to read the new updates! <3

You'll have to go check him out!

I agree, the honeymoon trip will be hard without Little Guy. Now that I've seen WDW with him, I don't want it any other way! And I know you would understand that.

Hi Lauren!! Hope all is well!

I’m pretty sure Tink has this one!
614.jpg

615.jpg

I actually have both of these! We're turning one of our bathrooms into a Disney beach theme..we also have a drawing of OKW up too. Now, we just need to find a Disney beach themed clock, which is hard to find!!

Great updates girls. That massage sounds lovely.

Kirsten I hope your observation goes well. I went back to Uni last year to do my teaching qualification and this year I am doing my probationary year this year teaching 9-10 year olds. Observations can be nerve wracking!

Tink, what a lovely day, I had never heard how they call families into CRT, pretty cool!

I had to show my dad and DBF your photo with Snow White, dad said she looked like she stepped straight out of the storybook, think thats the most perfect princess I've ever seen!:goodvibes

I like your mom's Bag1

Kristen, your meal in SS looks awesome, I have to keep thinking of heal;thier choices to keep DBF happy on our next trip! What a great surprise for a massage! Chris was on a roll!:wizard:

Love all the photo's at Dinner, some good poses getting pulled!:woohoo:

Sis was nervous the whole line, especially once we made it to the loading area. Why? Because a few trips back, as she was sitting in her doom buggy with Mom, the CM snuck around to the other side and peaked around and screamed “BOO!” at the top of his lungs. They let out a loud scream for everyone to hear. It was quite entertaining. But now she’s afraid that’s going to happen to her again. But, no such luck. We had boring CM’s that didn’t even interact with anyone. I know that they’re supposed to be playing a part, but they usually say something.

That's so funny! My mom and I had an experience like that on our august 2009 trip when a CM just kept staring at her right before our veichle left (after we boarded it). We were scared at first but then couldn't stop laughing the whole ride. We still talk about that story. So I haven't finished reading you trip report but I figure now is as good a time as any to comment on it. 1st: i absolutely love when I meet up with friends here. I'm glad that you and kristen got along so well. 2nd: I also have that kind of memory. My family is always amazed at the stuff i can remember. I still remember bits and pieces of our disneyland trip my family took when I was 4. 3rd: little guy sounds like he is soooo cute! I love little kids and the joy and enthusiam they bring to everything. thats why I love babysitting so much. Even though the kids I babysit are school aged they still bring that kind of joy. 4th: What was it like to stay at the contemporary? I absoultely love when we go there for chef mickey's. 5th and last thing: I can't wait to read the rest of your report!

oh and also let sis know that I totally am empathetic to the under 21 thing. I am the youngest in my family and am a year and 2 months from my 21st birthday and it sucks. My brother is getting married in december, which by then I will be 5 months from my 21st birthday :(

haha, The announcement that your table was ready is still in our heads. "Lords and Ladies of the Castle..." :rotfl:

Sometimes they just get the perfect people for the face characters. And sometimes, they get the worst!

It was really cute! Thanks!

I am so lucky to have found Kristen!! :goodvibes

That's so neat you can remember that trip!

He is cute when he wants to be! Don't get me wrong, he has his bad days!

Oh my gosh, it was so much fun staying at the Contemporary. Like I might've mentioned before, we've stayed there numerous times before we became DVC members. So being back there really brought back memories. And staying in the main tower? Well those sunrise pics explain it all! :cloud9:

oh and also let sis know that I totally am empathetic to the under 21 thing. I am the youngest in my family and am a year and 2 months from my 21st birthday and it sucks. My brother is getting married in december, which by then I will be 5 months from my 21st birthday :(

Aw man! That's so fun. I made sure to wait to have our wedding until after Sis turned 21..so she'll be 21 for a week once the wedding comes!
