Youth Group Movie suggestions

I saw someone else mentioned "Remember the Titans". My 16 y.o. daughter and I love that movie.

How about Wild America? That was one of my kids favorites for a long time.
Other ideas might be,
Freaky Friday (either version)
National Treasure (either one)
The Day After Tomorrow
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Secondhand Lions
Any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies

Good luck!

I was thinking National Treasure, too.:thumbsup2

Holes was a good one, too.

Can't do "stand by me" or Meatballs due to content ;)
I know what you mean about forgetting the "bad" parts. At Christmas time i ALMOST had them watch Christmas Vacation, luckily I watched it before hand. Few too many scenes that the parents wouldn't appreciate.

For those who questioned the Herbie movies, instead of Christmas Vacation, we watched Muppet Christmas Carol. The teens had so much fun, the following week, we watched Charlie Brown Christmas, Veggie Tale Christmas and Rudolf the Red nosed reindeer! We had a pile of movies and they voted on which to watch. They seem to like shows from the "good old days! :)

Thanks

Few years ago I brought home Sixteen Candles thinking my kids would love it...

I had forgotten that the movie started out with a Shower scene.:confused3

Oh yeah... oops! :headache: I think we see so many edited cable versions of a show we forget there is an unedited version out there.

Dont do Breakfast Club! That's another one that would be problematic.

Remember the Titans

Paperclips

Secondhand Lions

Because of Winn Dixie

October Sky (excellent movie!)

Just for inspiration, I went to the camping board and looked at the Disney campground movies that they are playing. Here's the August list for some ideas.

What denomination is the congregation? I would suggest Hairspray, but some churches don't do dancing or music.

Trust me on this one...October Sky. It is completely inspiring and age appropriate. It was the hit of one of DD's teen groups.

Very good movie.

How about...
Holes
Radio Flyer
Armageddon
Independence Day

I seem to remember watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off on TV w/my DD15 a few years back & it had quite a bit of foul language in it. At least more than would be appropriate to show a bunch of church kids without parental permission IMO.

Another vote for National Treasure (either one), Hoosiers & Remember the Titans.

Also I absolutely loved Mr. Magoriums Wonder Imporium.

Remember the titans! (dh is an adult trainer for Boy Scouts, they use this movie)

Mr Holland's Opus ( deaf son, dad composes music son cannot hear - Beautiful boy you tube that song!! )

Fininan's rainbow (I'll bet no one has seen this - we had to watch this my senior year at a weekend retreat - many racial questions, as well as that "rainbow" and pot of gold questions arise)

there is one more, but it is escaping me - give me a day!

PS
Please make sure to pre watch the movies - you know your group and parental dynamics..

Persuit of Happyness

Bucket List

(one youth group activity I had to do involved with a "Story" of passengers on a plane, it crashed - we had to determine the survivors - bucket list may be a great point of discussion...)

I'm going to have to agree with a previous poster about "Facing the Giants" :thumbsup2 . We have seen it several times. I even got an answer to something I was praying about the first time I saw it :)

I have a suggestion for the next time you do this, because the movie isn't out on DVD yet... Speed Racer!!!! It didn't do that well at the box office, but I personally thought it was FANTASTIC. It was family-friendly and visually it was the most interesting movie I've ever seen. I really think that age group would enjoy it!

For something that's already out... I was going to suggest Miracle or Invincable. Can't remember what the language is like in either of them. Of course, then I remembered that not all girls are into sports movies. But that's their loss :lmao:
