Your pet's "given" name vs nickname

We have a Cosmo, too, but he's more of a CosmoNUT. I call him spasmo sometimes, like when he is barking at the broom, the vaccuum, etc.
:rotfl2::rotfl2: Sounds like it could be the same dog. Our Cosmo is a spaz sometimes, too. (I'm pretty sure that's why he flunked his service dog training!)

They've all PITA when I am in a bad mood!;)
"Pita" is a preferred nickname given by my husband. I suspect it stands for the same thing.

Socks is also known as wuss puss for the obvious. Tippy became Tippy tail or empress puss, because she has an ego the size of St Paul's cathederal. Queenie is also grumpzilla because for a tabby cat she is a grumpy old moo at times.

That is funny that you use the term grumpy old moo. We started calling our Blackie - Moo because she was getting fat. She is a grump too, that's why she is Queen Crabby.

Twiggy was perfectly named when we got her (name given to her before we adopted her). Now it doesn't really fit. I always say she is not Twiggy, but "Twaggy". She has a barrel tummy now.

Our Angel aka Zoom used to zoom all over the place One of our cat sitters said she lived up to her nickname. She said she ran all over the place and then had to follow her while she took care of everything.

George's name is not just his name, but describes him too. We always say he is such a George. I said I am going to write a book called "And Then There's George - The Tale of How I Became the Crazy Cat Lady" :rotfl:

What a cute lighthearted thread!
OH boy do I ever have nicknames for my pets!
Black lab named Chief...his most used nickname is " Man the Man" and "Chiefeats"
Black cat, given name is Molly...nickname: Magoo, Magooser, angel cat
Grey cat Amelia: Ameeel, Fruit Loop ( after she was caught chowing on some once!)
Gordon ( grey tabby) ...man-cat, Gordo....

Glad I am not the only nutty one on here ;) I just love my pets!:goodvibes

Well most of my dogs I just call them by their name, but my pomeranian name is King and I call him buddy. And our only girl her name is Kylee but I always end up calling her lady.

my dogs name is Amaru (cocker spaniel mixed)...his full name is Tupac Amaru Shakur. yes i named him after 2pac...but I call him Amaru, Roo or Amaruski.

We have a dog named Gus. I have several nicknames for him including Guster Buster, Gus Gustopherson, Murray, and Oliver. He got the nickname Murray (after the lawnmower brand) when he was a puppy, because he would eat grass and weeds. I call him Oliver when he begs. I also call him Kitty Kitty, because he rubs against my legs like he is a cat.

He's definitely an interesting dog!

When my son was three we adopted our dog from the humane society. He's half shihtzu /half miniature greyhound. He's a white puffball with long legs.

My son named him Marshmallow. We call him Marsh or Marshy.

Now I'm starting to think everyone does it!
I'm having fun reading this thread. :lmao:

My husband's dog, a chihuahua, was named "Leche du chocolate" (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong) since his markings are like frothy chocolate milk. That morphed over the years to Eechie. He is also a very FAT little sausage dog, so he gets Chubby, Chubs, the Chubster. If there is food involved, he responds. If not, he ignores you totally.

My dog, a shih-tzu, on paper is called Rufus Romeo. He goes by Rufus. Over the years he has been nicknamed with Rufie, Pookie, Pookie Dookie Doozles, Stinkbutt, Bubby, and Fuzzbutt. Since getting married, my husband has added to these by calling him Rufie Tuesday or Rufus Maximus. He responds to all of them! :goodvibes

My daughter's dog, miniature yorkie, is named Jasper. I started calling him JazzyMaTazzy or JazzMaTaz since he's such a proper little gentleman. He also gets called Yoda Ears and Peanut (from Jeff Dunham since he does that "what?" look that Peanut gives Jeff in his routines).

I won't even go into the names we have for the chickens! LOL Mostly, we just call them "the ladies or the girls" as a group. When they're being especially rowdy, we sometimes call them the "chicken and dumplings". :rolleyes1

Anyone else have a pet name that evolved into something else?

I have a black cat I named Stormy. We usually just call her pooch because she has a little pooch belly. :goodvibes

I have another cat named Ol Blue Eyes. We usually just call him Blue or ****s. I don't know why i call him ****s. :lmao: I just do it and he comes to me.

We have a dog named Ariel. She is a chihuahua. We called her Chi Chi.

Precious our Pug.. Her name is Precious. We call her Prec. as if we forget the ious on her name.

Squeeky, our other cat, my husband just calls her pain in the _ _ _. :rotfl2:He hates her, but is stuck with her.

We call her Lily but her name is Maria's Lily of the Valley.

Her other names are puppy, lamby, paws & pupulupagus!

When we first got married we had a lab mix named Bailey that we called Pooh, for no apparent reason.

Now, we have a shih tzu named Oreo. WHen we first got him, my DS8 (who about 22 months at the time) called the dog "E-I-O" and it stuck.

Our chocolate Labrador is named Remus.

But sometimes we use the nickname that Steve Martin's dog was called in the movie "The Jerk". ;)

One cat's name is Daisy and we call her Daisy, Crazy Days, or Crazy D.

The other's name is Woody and we call him Woody, Woodward, or Woodrow Wilson :rotfl:. I don't know why.

Delilah, a 120lb boxer-mastiff mutt, is also know as Derirah, De boo ba lah (it edited it), Smushy, Squishy Baby, Stinky Baby (this one seems to be just my dad), Baby Girl, and Smushalah.

My orange tabby's name is Penelope Garcia, like the character from Criminal Minds. It started when we first got her she is pretty as a penny and I love Criminal Minds. That turned into just calling her Pen-Pen or when I am mad, dumb @$$. DBf calls her "You" after a cat from a Terry Pratchett book series he reads.

We have a JRT, his given name is Dash, but he has LOTS of nicknames

He also has a middle name, because as a PP said you need a middle name when you get yelled at. I wanted to go with Garnet because he is DD's dog and that is her birthstone. Go ahead, say it together :rolleyes1 DD thought Garnet was too girly so she chose Gonnit, same idea ;)

For nicknames we mostly call him Dasher, but DH likes to tease him that he is a "girl dog" (said like Donkey in Shrek when he finds out the dragon is a girl) since being "fixed" so he gets called Dashne (like Daphne), Dashina, Dashette, Dashlou... you get the idea :lmao:

I also sing "Dasharoni, the San Francisco treat" to him. Another one I call him is Jackson Brown, or just Jack since he is a Jack Russell.

The bad part? All these names and he pretty much ignores them all, I swear he is a cat trapped in a dogs body because he will just look at you when you call his name. If you have something for him, then he will come, but otherwise he just gives us a look like "what's in it for me?" when you call him.

Oh, I told you guys I call my dog Pepperoni sometimes. I also sing to her "Pepperoni, the San Francisco treat". I guess it came from Rice A Roni sounded like pepperoni. It's just something I started doing one day without realizing it.

Keep em coming!

Midnight- nicknames Mimi, Meeska Mooska, Lenny Loo Loo
Izzy- Wizzy Woo
Fatboy- Mr Man, Mr Fats
Pretty Girl- Pete/Petey
Stubby- Flubby Doo
Edward- Fred
They all know and come to their nicknames...and I honestly have no idea how we came up with these nicknames :rotfl:
