Your Most Disappointing Restaurant

Our most disappointing experience, hands down, Chef Mickey's breakfast...twice. Both times we felt the food was inferior to other character buffet breakfasts, once the service was horrible, and we felt the dining area wasn't kept clean. Character interaction was fine, but not so much better to get us back there. Although we may someday try dinner.

Boatwrights. Service was horrible in October, even tho they were not busy. The food was not good either. I asked for a rare steak and it came out well done. Not just a little overdone for the fussy but a steak chip. When I talked to the server she said, 'Well I can have them redo it but your family will be done eating by then". So I had her remove it from the tab and grabbed something at the food court. I had forgotten about this until this thread. I was reading some of it to my husband and he said, "well after what happened to you in Boatwrights". I had just put it out of my mind because the rest of the trip was so great.

For me, the most disappointing was

Akerhaus for the Princess Storybook Breakfast - that's a lot of $$ for eggs and sausage, we did see lots of princesses though. We were on the dining plan and using some "extra" credits that others in our group weren't going to use. No way I would ever pay cash for that.

Tangeriene Cafe was another disappointment. I can't say the food was bad, just not exactly my thing.

'Ohana was also a disappointment. (Note, this was before the most recent changes). The service was HORRIBLE and the food was just average, nothing special. I did enjoy the fried rice, which is no longer there...

On the flip side, I LOVED Boma. I think it caters to some unique tastes, but I really enjoyed that meal. I was actually considering going twice during my upcoming trip...

Ltt- Pluto was great but that was about it! DD didnt even remember meeting Minnie Mouse, good thing I have the pictures. Our service was bad, its pre-plated family style. Throw food on the table and keep the drinks refilled, its "easy" serving. The meat was cold and bland. We had been in the park all day and were thirsty, we didnt ever get the 3x requested drink refill. We even had asked another server for a refill. We left before dessert as we had been there forever for the medicore food. It was alot of money for cold meat, mac and cheese, salad and rolls. We wont go back!

Cape May- even tried it again last year but both times were very disappointing. Lesson learned.

California Grill- not impressed, tried the recommended dishes. Nice view but not worth it to us.

The overwhelming majority of my experiences at Disney have been positive. However, I've not been to a lot of the restaurants I see mentioned the most here (LTT, Chef Mickey's, O'hana).

The only two really bad dining experiences we've had that I consider the fault of Disney both happened a number of years ago, so are not relevant now when considering adrs, but I will share just for reading interest:

Worst experience: Cantina San Angel, Mexico pavillion. I was a vegetarian at the time, and back then they did not have a vegetarian menu as they do now. The waiter told me that they could prepare the enchiladas without chicken, just cheese, which I said was fine. Well, when the enchiladas came out, they had chicken in them, so I sent them back. The chef came out of the kitchen, pointed at me and started yelling at the top of his lungs! The waiter pushed him back into the kitchen, and then brought me my replacement meal, which was the same enchiladas as before, with most, but not all, of the chicken removed. It was very disturbing not only to us but to others in the restaurant who heard the chef yelling. Needless to say we have not been back.

Second worst was nothing compared to the above! DH was served a practically raw veal shank (or possibly lamb shank) at Citricos. It was as if they seared it off then forgot the braising part! He got really skeeved and did not want to order a replacement or eat anything else. The server did do his best to rectify the situation.

worst was Concourse. The menu looked so good. I got an almost raw Filet Mignon, asked for it med., App was 3 undercooked scallops.... thats it 3 scallops on a plate, for 10 bucks. Son ordered a shrimp add on, which never showed up. A disapointment.
2nd was Ohana, maybe it would be suited to teens, with their big appetites, or the little ones, with energy to burn. My son(15) wants to go back., not me . Quantity over quality.

Both San Angel and the Hollywood Brown Derby were dissapointing to me on my honeymoon. Mediocre food and bad service.

We ALWAYS wanted to go to Sci-Fi @ MGM, but could never get in, so this year we planned ahead...BAD IDEA. The food was absolutely rancid, almost inedible. Atmosphere was cool, but man, that food was expensive & awful.

2nd was Prime Time Cafe. We went there on Thanksgiving '04 & the turkey was awful! Salty beyond belief, round cuts of meat like it was cut in a deli then nuked & served.

We didn't like Biergarten. Maybe it was an off day, but the food was not good (the desserts were YUCK!) The server was very nice and we liked her alot. I also wouldn't go back unless I had a bigger group. The people we sat next to were not nice at all.

We did love 'Ohana though and plan to go back. I'm also looking foward to Boma, CP and Le Cellier. Wish me luck!

Sci-Fi at MGM, overpriced and not impressed with it at all.

WCC...we all had the skillet meal, wouldn't order that again.
But Wilderness lodge is our favorite resort we love it there.

now I know what it is....I'm oblivious when I'm at WDW!! I'm sitting here reading through this thread trying to think when I've had a bad meal or time at any of the listed restaurants and I honestly cannot come up with one.

I guess at the ones with characters I don't even notice the food because I'm so excited for the characters (*ahem* for the characters to visit with my children..yeah that's it...when they visit my kids! ) that I don't notice the food. Either that or one of my precious children is acting like they've been switched with their evil twin and I'm too busy removing children from the premises to notice the food!! lol!

With O'hana's I've always asked for my beef to come out rare and it has always been perfect!

The only place that I can remember eating at and being disappointed was not one recommended by people here on the boards but by the cms at the resort was Shutters and CBR. It was slow, the food was average, and the price was high.

Well, I was "crestfallen" when I went to Liberty Tree Tavern. The hype on the food was tremendous. My only conclusion is that some people just enjoy mediocre food and it must be *me.* It was not DELICIOUS. It tasted like something from the Old Country Buffet.

Of course, Chef Mickey's dinner buffet food is awful.

'Ohana--I enjoy the place but agree that the meat is like shoe leather.

Chef Mickey's, the food was just mediocre and luke warm at best. I also felt the characters were very rushed.

I also felt Chef Mickeys was a let down. We had been before and it was great. The last time we went (2004) the characters did not come around and the food was only so-so. Would not recommend it to anyone anymore! Maybe for first-timers!!

The only one that comes to mind is Ohana. It wasn't awful, just not what I had hoped for. Service was fine. Too much meat that tasted the same, shrimp was not deveined. Ewww!

What exactly do you mean by not deveined? We went there a few years ago and my boyfriend won't even go near the restaurant now. While he was eating, he loved the food. He ate a lot of the shrimp i noticed and afterward he got really sick to his stomach. His stomach pains were so bad i thought i was going to have to call down to the lobby for an ambulance. Then he figured out that he may have forgotten to take something off of the shrimp. I wonder if that was it..

No, not being deveined would not make him sick.

There is a little black vein that runs up the "curve" of the shrimp. It is supposed to be pulled out. But it will not make you sick if you eat it. Eating part of the peel could upset your intestines, but more than likely he probably ate too much and it disagreed with him (unless everyone got sick).

Old Country Buffet, that is the best way to describe it!!!! I think I would rather go to Old Country Buffet if forced down to a choice. The heat lamps would have atleast kept our meat warm for us!
