Your first concert?

This was in late 1968, I think. In Houston, at what everybody just called the Colosseum. The headline band was Vanilla Fudge, and the warmup band was Three Dog Night. :thumbsup2

VF is LONG gone, but TDN is still in business last I heard, and Mrs. Tex and I were privileged to see them one more time about 10 years ago when they played for a nursing conference in Reno. Their 45 minute set went on for nearly two hours because we wouldn't let 'em off the stage, and they were having a ball, rocking out with pretty much everything they'd ever recorded.

Totally awesome!

For me it was either Rex Smith, The Ramones, or A Flock of Seagulls.

Hubby says his were either Goddo, Triumph, or Rush (some great Canadian bands)!

Tom Petty when I was 11. I begged my mom to take me, and she did. That is going on 20 years ago...and he was old even then. He was my favorite for quite a long time. I was never into the boy band thing, even as a young girl.

My first was Lynyrd Skynyrd. I was about 10 or 11. Now, I go to every concert that comes around no matter what genre. They're just so much fun! :) I'm going to be taking my DD to her first concert in September. Blake Shelton. She is always singing his songs lol

Oh, I am jealous of you too! You got to see the Beatles and The Bee Gees!!!! Those were 2 I always wished I could see. I would have been on the young side back then and my parents just didn't do concerts at all.

Yes, saw the Beatles and then years later saw Paul McCartney and Wings, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The only one I never saw do his own concert was John Lennon.

I saw the Bee Gees at a rather small outdoor facility.

Bob Seger...Night Moves tour in Philly

My first concert..was *blush* Rick Springfield!* LOL I was 14...Now BEST concert ever, that's a whole other thread! ;)

I don't remember what my first was... Tiffany, I think. Or Color Me Bad. Either way, I did NOT have great taste in music as a 4th grader. :rotfl: First concert without an adult was Nine Inch Nails on NYE '94.

I just took DD10 to her first real concert last weekend - Jimmy Buffet. She has far better taste than I did, and we had a BLAST. One of the top 5 concerts I've been to and I've been to probably hundreds over the years.

I don't remember what DS14's first was... Alice Cooper, I think, but he also saw Rush and Ted Nugent that same summer (when he was 11) and I'm not positive which came first. They'd both been to free shows at state/county fairs, the Detroit Downtown Hoedown, local music festivals, and things like that before, but to me the "first" that counts is when they asked to go see someone rather than just tagging along for something we were doing as a family.

Love them!

My very first real concert was to see the group Aiabama. I had the biggest crush on Randy Owen. Funny thing is I saw him at a Jacksonville State University football game last year and he still looks good. :lmao:

My first concert without parents was Van Halen. :dance3: Someone smoking pot behind us burned a whole in my jacket.

oh my gosh! we must be neighbors! :wave2: i saw alabama as a tween (randy was my favorite too!) and went to JSU! i'm originally from gadsden!

The Jackson's Victory tour, September 1984 at JFK Stadium (I was 12). I won the tickets off WCAU Philly and my mom won another set so I was able to bring a friend and her mom. Then we ended up winning another set for the same concert that came back at the end of the month. I wish I still had that kind of luck! :thumbsup2

This year Justin Bieber's concert is the day after DD's 7th birthday and DH is taking her. Better him than me, plus I get out of throwing a big birthday party! :rotfl:

Alice Cooper 1972 at Roosevelt Stadium, Jersey City

The Doobie Brothers, Minute by Minute Tour, Huntington, WV, 1979. It was still in the era of stadium seating, so it was kind of like rope drop: you're there when the doors open and stake out your seat, or you could stand down in front of the stage, where we were.

There was this hippie-looking guy with his hippie-looking girlfriend standing next to us. He insisted on smoking weed in spite of the place crawling with cops. Every time someone who looked like a cop got close, he said in a low voice, "Fan me, baby, fan me," and she'd take her jacket and wave it real big to spread out the smoke. Like no cop would notice her waving her jacket and not figure out what was going on. The were escorted out about halfway through the concert. Fun times....

I was 11 years old - Metallica / Guns N' Roses - Foxboro Stadium ...My Parents had no idea I was going thankfully my friend's Mother was awesome and covered for me so I could go, she dropped us off and waited for us...it was a life changing experience, since 1992 I've seen well over 400 Hard Rock, Hardcore and Heavy Metal bands live \m/

Oingo Boingo, October 31st 1988 at Irvine Meadows Ampitheater in Orange County, CA.

My first concert was Bruce Springsteen: Born in the USA tour at Giant Stadium in August 1985. I remember it like yesterday. My sister and I stalked the radio to find out when tickets were going on sale. My parents let us wait in line overnight with one of my mother's co-workers. We were only 15 & 16 years old so it was a HUGE deal! The tickets were only $17.50 each - I think that's what the ticketmaster charges for fees now. Ha!
