I need a good thread to keep me in a good mood through the next weeks...I would love for everyone to drop a paragraph on their best disney memory from any of their trips....
I'll start:
Last June I was able to convince my brother and sister-in-law to cmoe to WDW with their 2 year old son. We were walking through a merchandise store and he spotted a Woody doll at his eye level...it was like he struck gold. He grabbed the doll and and started yelling "Oh Boy" over and over and walked, without looking, directly to the cash register....It was amazing.

This was actually at Disneyland many years ago. My daughter (then age 5) had fallen in Toontown and broken her wrist (DL treated us as if we were the most important guests in the world......long story) ANYWAY, during the evening Christmas parade......I don't know how they did it........but every character (princes, princesses, Mickey and Minnie) made it a point to point to Alana, wave and blow her kisses. She felt like SHE was in the parade!

Actually, this whole trip........characters came up to HER (those that couldn't "speak" were able to mime and "ask" her what happened to her arm) and they posed for pictures and gave her pins to wear on her sling!

One of my favorite memories was a trip that was supposed to be with my then wife and our daughter. Well, it turned out to be just me and my wife. We had a great week together. I remember sharing a pizza from Pizza Planet at MGM, sitting under an umbrella, watching a slight rain fall. The pizza wasn't all that good and the marriage didn't last, but it sure was a great day. lol.

Simply sharing the experience with a loved one(s) is my best memory. The rest is just (mostly forgotten) "details."

We visited the world in May and my 7 year old son was enjoying getting the characters autographs. When we walked into Tomorrow land and he spotted Buzz, his eyes got really wide and he said, "I know that is the REAL Buzz Lightyear, not like the other pretend characters." That same trip my 3 year old daughter was walking through Minnie's house (her favorite at the time) calling, "Minnie, are you home? Where are you?" I thought it was all very cute!

I guess it was the third time we had taken our oldest daughter to WDW. It was May 2003 and she had just turned 3. She was a big princess fan (Snow White #1) and for whatever reason the only one we had met was Cinderella in Toontown. Well we asked the CM's about Snow white and the girl made a few calls and told us to go to the old Fantasyland sky-bucket station at say 2pm. We did and there she was. The handler CM noticed my daughter's hat (minnie) and said this must be the special girl that asked to see you Snow. They spent about 5 minutes together before actually opening the line up for others. I was later told that Snow wasn't supposed to appear that day except in the parade...but they made an exception for my daughter and of course let other see her too. My daughter was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited by it. Later that day Snow White yelled my daughter's name as she passed us in the parade. Then to top it all off Merriwhether (sp?) took my daughter's hand and led her out into the parade for a bit. It was the "best day in the parks" ever for our family.

I had a neat experience on our 11-04 trip. We were waiting to ride the carousal in Fantasyland. DH and I were the last ones left through the gate. We circled the whole thing and did not find two horses together. We went back to the waiting area to be the first ones on the next ride. I had read on the boards about a single horse on the carousal that was Cinderella's horse. This was noted by a gold ribbon in the horse's tail. Watching the carousal go around, I spotted this horse and told DH I wanted to ride that one. When the ride stopped, that horse was right in front of me. During the wait, there was a little girl right behind us with her family and she had heard DH and I talking about Cinderella's horse. She told dad that she really really wanted to ride it. She kept looking at me but didnt ask if she could have that horse. When we got on the ride I took the horse behind Cinderella's horse and she jumped right on the special horse. She kept looking back at me the entire ride with the most beautiful smile on her face. At the end of the ride she had mom take a photo of the horse's tail. It really brought joy to my heart to make this child so happy.

My first time in almost 16 years walking up toward the castle in 2001. I had tears in my eyes and kept saying I'm finally here. It was a dream come true after such a long wait. To think I've been now the past 3 years in a row. Don't get to go this year but a lifetime dream comes true next year, disneyland.

Don't "know" how they did it :cool1: but they got matching Cinderella jumpers in the right sizes with a cute top to got with it.

Gus & Jaq snuck into our room & left them for our girls.

We went to see Cinderella in the Toontown Fair that morning & thanked her for the dresses. She told us she didn't deliver them but her friends did!

She asked the girls if they saw Gus & Jaq. Neither of them did! :earboy2: Her response: "that's good, they did their job right".

I saw a WDW Mngr and let him know what a great job Gus & Jaq did. He HUGGED me & thanked me for keeping the magic going in our little girls.

BTW: Mousekeeping "knows" to let Gus & Jaq into rooms to make special deliveries

My most special memory is from Disneyland -- Aug. 03. We were at the Animation attraction in Calif. Adventure. It was late and the Main St. Parade was going on so the attraction was not crowded. The waiting area is a circular room with screens up high that play clips from movies. During the Sleeping Beauty Waltz, hubby grabs me and dances me through the waiting area. It was very special.

My best memory happened just last Friday.
After my sister and I got off the plane and were waiting by the carousal for our luggage when my son called from work to make sure we landed all right even though we always track each others flight whenever we go anywhere. So of course we had to kid him about his being in chilly Chicago working while we were here in sunny Florida. so we get our rental car and go to check into the Pop Century and as we enter the lobby someone yells, "It's about time you got here"! It was my son and his roommate! They had flown in from Chicago that very morning just to surprise us and join us at WDW. When we THOUGHT he was calling from work, they were actually at DTD having a Margarita while waiting for us to get there. I must say you never saw two more shocked and surprised people as my sister and I who of course, immediately started sobbing like babies after seeing them.

We were at Magic kingdom in March and my DS who is three years old was very upset, not really sure why He was crying and kicking. A CM came up to him and tried to give him some stickers to calm him down. That didn't work either. We walked a little farther and there stood Buzz Lightyear signing autographs.

DS saw Buzz, turned off the crying and said"There's Buzz!". Just like that, everything was great. It was really funny. :jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3:

For me, it was planning and getting all the wonderful advice here and in the Unofficial Guide. Then taking dd 8 for her first trip. Landing in the Poly thanks to the Dreammaker Package, listening to dd scream each time she went down the slide (she thought it made the slide that much more fun!) Arranging to be in Epcot England at the time the Fab 4 were playing, while sipping an English Ale... then poor bored dd looking to get her passport stamped tugs my hand, and what do you know THERE IS MARY POPPINS!! I hadnt planned any surprises for ME! (we ate at Princess Storybook, and I had hoped to see Mary, but not that day..) I saw Mary and tears began falling! (can you imagine what the CM and Mary thought, not to mention DD who almost rolled her eyes, or LOL!) As I was taking dd pic with Mary, I explained to the CM why Mary was so special to me (my first Disney movie, and my grandmother took me, and she had recently passed) Well, in spite of the lines with honest to goodness children waiting patiently, the CM takes me to Mary and declares, "this is your moment" and lets me talk, and she took my picture with Mary (and yes I had tried to get dh's attention *g) I know it isnt much, but the magic was always the little things for me!! Dh still talks and praises me for all my planning, and the surprises, he really said made the trip (Wishes cruise, Q&C vouchers, etc)

:wizard:

So many memories! I guess the very best was the time my DH and I snuck down to Disney without the kids for a little R & R and adult time. We booked a standard room at GF. When we checked in, the CM at the front desk called upstairs, the concierge came down and we were upgraded to an unbelievable room, overlooking the castle, main building in concierge. That was cool!

My favorite memory goes back to the year WDW opened. I was just 5 years old but already had a major addiction to all things Mickey! Well, we were riding in the car and my father said "we're in Disney World." I looked and all I could see was palm trees and sand! Remember, back then pretty much all that was there was the Magic Kingdom. So we drove what seemed to me like forever and finally ended up in a 'special' parking lot. By now I was convinced I was not even in the United States anymore. But we still were not there! We had to take a special train called a Monorail to get to this magical place. The whole time I kept asking if Mickey was going to be there. My mom and dad, being the smart parents they were, kept avoiding a direct answer to that question. How could they promise that I would see Mickey right away. Well, for some reason I had it in my 5 yo brain that the only reason Mickey would be there that day was for me so when the monorail stopped and the doors opened I broke away from my parents and ran as fast as I could down that ramp just knowing that my friend would be there. And guess what? He was!! I threw myself in his arms and gave him the biggest hug. Is the Magic Kingdom still a special place for me over 30 years later - you better belive it!!!!

My favorite trip memory is from this past June. My parents took me for my graduation present and I got to bring my best friend with me. My godfather and his wife also flew out there to join us. Our first night in Magic Kingdom we all stood together and watched Wishes which none of us had seen before. My best friend and I cried and held hands because we both knew that I would be going off to college and this would be our last time to be together for a while. So just being surrounded by my best friend and family members and being able to share the magic of Disney with them made it my favorite trip memory so far. :wizard:

We were in Epcot on new year's eve 1999 and DH and I were dressed in formal wear. I was wearing a pale blue dress with a huge skirt and we ran into this little girl who was wearing her Cinderella costume. She thought I was a princess so she ran up to me and hugged me and asked if she could have her photo taken with me. I had felt like a princess myself this entire visit but this made my trip! In the photo we both have these huge grins on - it wassuch a lovely sweet moment!

This is one of my favourite memories with my girl....

Being in the MK for my 40th birthday! My brother and sister were with me for this trip. Just us adults, or rather, us overgrown kids. We go to the MK on a Tuesday. We see the opening ceremony, really cool! We stroll down Mainstreet. The very best photographer takes our picture with the castle. We are all grinning real big. How can we help ourselves, we're at the MK. Right after the picture, right behind us, are the Dapper Dans. I'm thinking, "Cool, I've always wanted to listen to the Dapper Dans!" So, we stop to listen to them for a bit. They notice my birthday button and sing a very special, and funny, version of the birthday song. I'm just about to explode with joy and we've only been in the park maybe 20 minutes! About this time, some guy comes up to us and says that he wants to ask us a question. We have to go off to the side to talk to him. My brother and sister and I are all thinking, "Timeshare!" Actually, he asks if we would like to be the grand marshals for the afternoon parade. Do we! Duh! More magical things happened after that. What a great day!

I was pushing my 2 year old son in his stroller when he spotted Buzz and Woody signing autographs. Before I could even move, my little man bolted out of the stroller on an arm flailing collision course with his fave character at the time. I had to be quick but did catch him. "Just want see Woody mommy, just want see Woody!" I explained to him that we had to wait in line to see Woody. The line was about 15 to 20 deep but moved relatively quickly. I stood in Buzz's line and Daddy stood in Woody's. We got to the front at the same time so Daddy let one at time in front of him until we were done with Buzz. Little man couldn't get to Woody fast enough! I held him my squirming child back until the kid with Woody was done and then I let him rip. "WWWWWOOOOOOODDDDDDYYYYYYY!" he shouted and launched himself into an awaiting Woody's arms. Woody picked him up and swung him in a hug from side to side. I was fighting back the tears as I snapped the number 1 most adorable photo of our entire collection of vacation photo's. After he was done, before the next kid walked up, he just had to get one more hug in. I'll never forget the joy in his heart shining through his eyes and I'll never forget the joy in mine being a part of the priceless moment. That one moment was worth every penny of that vacation. It makes me tear up just thinking about it. It was indeed priceless!
