Your Favorite Souvenirs...How Much Did They Cost?

I've bought many things over the years and have really limited myself lately but I do always buy 1 christmas ornament and have it personalized and usually a sweatshirt......however I have to confess my very favorite is the Walt Disney World Resort pens that are left in the rooms next to the phones, they are free and I love using them all year round. I usually have one in my purse and I use it to write checks...always makes me smile.....Cheap, silly but I just love it :earsboy:

Princess dresses and pirate costumes ($50-60) are really pricey - but the kids have gotten a ton of use out of them. In terms of a $$ use equation, they are some of the best toys they own.

Call me crazy, but buying souvenirs in Disney and paying full price , is something I rarely do. Prior to going, I stock up on sale items in the Disney store, or on Disney stuff in Big Lots and in Dollar stores. I bring surprises with me, and leave a treat under each of my children's pillows before they wake up in the am. They have loved that "magical" things happen while we are there, and I avoid the shops, and avoid the whining, and the wanna's that go along with it. This trip, I bought family & friends gifts ahead of time, left them at home, and spent quality time with family, instead of shopping.
The kids do have an alotted amount to spend if they want to.
I bought my 22 mos. old daughter a Mickey stuffed animal for $3.99 before leaving. The same exact one was $20.00 in the gift shops. A savings like that makes Mom really happy.
If you are able, shop ahead and save big!!

I am all for saving money, but I love seeing my daughters face when I tell her to pick something out in shop. It is that feeling you only get on vacation when you are doing something you never usually do. She has a charm necklace we got last trip. I think the total price was like $60.00 after getting all the charms she wanted. I did have to limit. She has worn it a million times and changes out the charms depending on her mood. It was worth every penny. I think I will get a bracelet for myself this next trip. And of course, she will get more charms!

My best find was in the Lego Store in Downtown Disney. They had a special Lego kit for Halloween making pumpkins. One Kit made a flat pumpkin and 2 kits makes a round 3 -D pumpkin. They had orange legos with green for the stem. This was a seasonal special kit not marketed everywhere. Not Disney branded but boy did my Grandkids love them:jester:

That didn't keep Grandma from buying lots of other Disney goodies. Several of the stores in the parks had a sale where if you bought the Disney Doll you got a costume for 50% off. Now my Granddaughter will get the doll for her birthday 2 days before Halloween and it will be dressed like Bella just like she will be for Halloween. We have to keep the Princesses happy !!:D

One of my personal items is a Disney MGM tshirt which I bought on the evening of the opening of this park(did not go in as it was invited guest only and we left Orlando the next day ) it was in 1989, it is a lovely pink colour and depicts Mickey & Minnie dressed as a bride & groom and says MGM studios on it.

I wore it on a subsequent visit & was told by a cast member that it was a rare T shirt.

We actually purchased the charms at the store on the Boardwalk. I did see them a few places though. Downtown Disney had a few. They are pretty popular.

My all time favorite has to be the caricature drawings of my two DS's we had done at the WL---they are matted, framed, and hanging above their beds.

I think they were $30 each.

Last trip I got a 2004 flocked scrapbook and I believe it was under $25 (still haven't scrapped those Disney pics...I have to get moving on that!) I also got my Mickey antenna topper ($3?...can't remember but it was cheap!)

We usually don't buy much when we go to WDW. My kids spend alot of their money but my Dh and I don't get much. One thing I always get though is a dated Christmas tree ornament.

I'd rather take lots and lots of pictures and spend my money on film and really good developing than buy t-shirts and nick nacks!
