Your favorite SOUP

Eating out-- pho, thom ka gai, or tortilla soup

Eating in-- halibut chowder, caldo verte, or miso soup

Last night I wrote an e-mail to McDonald's asking if they would be bringing back soup since I enjoyed picking it up in the drive through on occasion during the winter months. Here is the generic response I received:

Thank you for taking the time to contact McDonald's. We are sorry that you are disappointed that your local McDonald's restaurant no longer serves one of your personal favorites.

We are always reviewing our menu and testing a variety of products in an effort to offer a menu that is enjoyed by our customers. Of course, whenever changes are made to our menu, customer feedback is especially important. Your comments will be shared with our Menu Management department where they will be considered during their review of these recent changes. Again, we are sorry to disappoint you. We hope you will enjoy one of the other available options at this time.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feelings with us regarding our menu.

Think of your favorite soups. Maybe you love chicken noodle, minestrone, and clam chowder. But if you are a vegetarian or vegan, chances are, you can't eat those any more.

:confused3 This post has me totally confused:rotfl2:

For the record I am vegan and so is minestrone.

I tried a new soup recipe a few weeks ago. Cheeseburger Soup, it got pretty good reviews that night, but the next day it was fabulous!! It was pretty simple and I got the recipe from pinterest.

I also like the Bear creek soup mixes, all are really good, and a quick fix meal.

Which on did you use? I looked on Pinterest and found different ones. Thanks!

Because a few people asked:

Buffalo Chicken Wing Soup

1 bag of Mirepoix (or 2 ribs celery, 1 medium onion, 1 large carrot finely diced)
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup milk
3 cups or more chicken broth
2 cups diced or shredded cooked chicken
1/4-1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
8 oz. Velveeta
1/2 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp garlic

Saute mire pioux in butter. Add flour and cook for one minute. Slowly add broth and simmer until it is thickened. Add milk and stir in the rest and cook over medium/low heat.
Serve with tortilla chips in the bowl.

I love soup. I want to try a bunch of these recipes! My kids love Italian wedding soup!

Our new family favorite is homemade toscana soup. Soooo good! And the cayenne is just perfect for a -4 degree day! Now I need to stop at the grocery store on the way home. ;)

Just about to start a pot of potato soup. It's freezing here today so I am sure it will be well recieved!

My husband and kids are big soup eaters...they could have it for every meal. I have to be in the mood for it.

My faves are:

16 bean with veggies
spicy corn chowder
loaded potato
green split pea (love this with a swiss cheese sandwich with lots of mayo...)
wild rice
and any kind of spicy veggie chili

My family LOVES Toscana Zuppa soup!!

Here is the recipe for the soup. I just use orzo as I like the texture better in the soup but using broken spaghetti is good too.

Thank you for sharing this recipe. I made it today using orzo and it is delicious. I took the suggestions of one of the posters in the comments and increased the broth to 8 cups, added celery and onions and replaced the parsley with 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil. I also added a bit less lemon juice than the recipe called for by using only one and a half lemons instead of two. Definitely a keeper!

I love soups. I could eat soup everyday in the fall and winter months.

My homemade favorites are chicken tortilla or baked potato. Many of these recipes sound great so thanks for posting new things to try!

My favorite soup is my own homemade hamburger vegetable.

I also like broccoli, broccoli/cheese, beef noodle, chicken noodle.

STUFFED PEPPER SOUP

1 onion diced
2-3 cloves of garlic crushed
Salt and pepper
Sautée in olive oil until onion is translucent

Brown 1 lb hamburg or ground turkey
Add 1 red pepper, 1 yellow pepper and 1 green pepper cut into bite size pieces
Add 1 8 oz diced tomatoes
Let simmer

Add 4 cups of beef or chicken broth and 1 cup of uncooked brown rice

Cook for 1 hour.

You may have to add more broth if the rice absorbs some of the liquid.

I make homemade lentil, split pea and mushroom barley. (That is 3 separate soups, not all together, lol!)

When I'm out I love the chicken gnocchi soup at Olive Garden.

This sounds great! I was going to make stuffed peppers tonight but thinking about this soup now instead. If I make it I'll sub TVP for the meat and roast the peppers first. My DH hates "pepper skins" so roasting them first gives them a nice flavour and removes the skins. I may just throw in some black beans and corn as well since I have the beans soaking right now for the stuffed peppers. I know I am tweaking the recipe alot but thanks for the idea and base:idea:
