We are planning our 2nd trip to Disney next June. We are SOOO excited, but as I start to plan my itinerary, I'm getting a little worried that some of the "magic" will not be there. Oh, please don't misunderstand me...magic abounds the in land of pixie dust...no matter HOW many times you've been...but we had the PERFECT vacation last spring and I'm afraid the next one just won't live up to it.

We're staying in a different resort (POFQ) whereas we stayed at CR last time. The lack of the monorail will drive me crazy, but I'm so excited about the POFQ and the boat to DTD. I'm also trying to plan "different" activities and different restaurants, but then I get sucked into wanting to do the same things.

How were YOUR 2nd trips? Let downs or just as magical as the first time? Any suggestions on how to approach this trip? :earsgirl:

I love POFQ. I am trying CSR this next time and I am a little nervous about it. My 2nd trip was better than my first.

I too have a difficult time with trying something new, but I am going to because I feel that I am cheating myself if I don't.

2nd Trips?? I think we've been to WDW with 7 yr old dd over 15x!! Not to mention the tons of times dh and I went prior to being parents and then how many times I went prior to meeting dh!!

You won't be disappointed, in fact, I think the more you go, the more "addicting" it is to go! LOL!! Living in FL makes it even easier :teeth: The best way to approach WDW again with a young child is to make an itenerary. Decide which parks you want to go to and which attractions you want to see the most. Try not to do commando style days as it can be very tiring for your dd. Try to allow some "down" time in the afternoon on some days so she can rest (and you too).

Don't feel like your missing out on something if you want do some of the same things as you did last time (you obviously enjoyed them to want to do them again). Try to enjoy the pool at your resort and any of the amenities. Spend more time in a park you didn't get to spend much time in last time.

I laughed at your picture as my dd has the same Barbie/Princess dolls and sleeps with them like that along with Mickey, Minnie and all her other stuffed friends.

Whatever you do, you will enjoy! Not sure what time of year you went the first trip, but for early June I recommend bringing along some ponchos and a stroller cover ;)

When we were planning our second trip I was thinking the same thing. The Disers here assured me that we would have a great time and they were right. :flower: We did some of our favorite things but tried many new things and have just added to our favorite list. In fact, our second trip was so successful that we have been fortunate enough to be able to schedule our our next trip in Dec. and we are as excited as the first time. If you really enjoy WDW you will have a great time. :wizard:

Hmmm...can't remember my second trip. It was many, many trips ago. (I grew up in Winter Park.) I have never grown tired of WDW. It's still magical for me. Dh hasn't been as many times -- probably about 8 altogether -- but he looks forward to every trip, too. This past year, we've been 3 times...and we're returning next week.

I've decided it's not where you stay that brings the magic, it's your own excitment that makes it happen. Like yours, our (my DGD and I) first trip was over the top with pixie dust. We got to open MK, "start" Illuminations from Rose & Crown, and a couple other special moments. We stayed at ASMu that trip. Our second trip wasn't as good because my adult daughter was along and we ended up arguing the whole time. We stayed at a deluxe that time, AKL. There's been several trips since these and they've each had their ups and downs depending on the mix of people I've been with and own state of minds. That's why you can be having the time of your life and then look beside ya and folks are having a lowsy time. As far as doing different things, that's fun too, but I always have to redo my favorites. It all depends on who you're with too. When I go with my granddaughter we do different things & eat different places than what I do when I go with my 80yo father. Both are fun trips though! Your sweet DD will be a little older and might be tall enough for more rides, etc. That was fun for me, watching my DGD get braver and braver each time we go. Mainly I think you'll enjoy yourself more because you're not as worried about finding things, and worrying about other first time worries. You can enjoy the here and now more.

My first and second trips to Disney were so-so. I just wasn't that into it. It wasn't till my THIRD trip on my honeymoon with DH that I really felt the pixie dust. We just went in March for the fourth time and are going next year for our fifth with kids. I am now totally obsessed. DVC anyone???

Magic will be there...but sometimes you have to find it. What I mean - it will never be the same trip as last time. That's OK - doesn't mean it won't be as good, but it will be different.

Try to do some new things (at least one new restaurant, another park, definately some new attractions) and remember to see these as a first timer (not a "been-there-done-that DIS expert). Make sure you go on your favorite attractions, maybe two or three times - this I believe is when you really start to see the "magic" when you see something over and over. First time I went on Small World it was fine - but go on it several times in a day or a week and it really opens you eyes to the whole attraction.

Most of all - enjoy!

In my opinion, it was even better. Our 3rd trip got pushed back to March and I am hanging on by the thinnest thread. :scared: :crazy2:

Second trips can be great if you don't spend time comparing them to your first and if you add some new magic to the old trip. Try a few new restaurants and rides, even shows. A new resort is a great idea.

I have heard that POFQ is beautiful and I hope to stay there sometime. We change resorts almost every trip and find new magic in every new place.

DH are going next week for our fourth trip together with our kids. I think it gets better every time.

:cool1: :cool1:

We were just like you. For our 2nd trip we stayed at a different resort as well and we were still excited to go. We stayed longer the 2nd time and the magic was still there. There was things we did the first time and knew better to do the 2nd time. We got to plan better the 2nd time around. We went to things the first time we knew we wouldn't go again to and also the things we loved we knew we had to repeat again. The 2nd time we got to relax and look at everything and let it all in. I actually found out that the 2nd time around was almost even better. I'm planning our 3rd hopefully soon and we can't wait to go and explore even more things like DTD.

Coming up to something like the 42nd trip. I lost count. The magic is ALWAYS there. Somehow, we find something new every time. A concert, a lunch, a bird, a different attraction. We're leaving on Friday for the weekend - a Mouse Suicide run. Just for the Food & Wine Festival. We'll find new things there too.

You never run out of the magic at Disney World.

I too was afraid that the magic would somewhat be gone when we went for our 2nd trip. Afterall, I had always felt this way anytime I went on vacation twice at the same place.

But with WDW it is totally different. Even though you are now familiar with certain attractions, hotels, and restaurants....you never rune out of new things to see and do.

We are looking forward to seeing La nouba on our next trip, and we plan on visting more of Pleasure Island too.

I can't remember my second trip (DH are both South Florida natives and still residents). We've been so many times, starting when we were babies. But we still get so excited each time and the magic never goes away. Have fun!

My 2nd trip was back in '79 and I was only 6 years old. I can't say that I remember it too well. But I have been several times since then and I can't get enough of it. :goodvibes :sunny: Even though I just got back, I am hopeful that I will get back soon.

Our second trip was in no way less magical. I already knew the ins and outs of how to get around and what was worth the wait and what was not (very few things, but there are some, IMHO). We got to slow down a little more on our second trip and just enjoy disney. I didn't feel rushed to get everything in that i wanted to, but we still did get to almost everything. We spent more time exploring the parks we didn't get to see as much in the first trip like DS and fell in love with it. I was more confident in hunting down charectors and didn't feel silly or selfish standing in line with a bunch of kids. Our second trip was just as great as our first and I know my 3rd, 4th, 5th and so in will be, too.

I think my 2nd trip was actually *better* than my first, because it was like coming home to an old friend, rather than making a new one, if that makes sense.
