Phillip is Back from the Dead on Y&R -- Now He's Gay!

Thom Bierdz feared coming out would ruin his career, but now he's returning to Y&R and his character, Phillip Chancellor III, is gay just like him! His character was killed in 1989 after "dying" in a drunk driving accident. A Y&R insider tells The Globe that "Phillip is GAY and faked his death because he couldn't continue living a lie!"

Bierdz, 47, was hired to reprise the role he played for 3 years and he couldn't be more thrilled. When he started on the show in 1986, he was told by various Y&R show bosses to keep his sexuality under wraps, which he did. Then weeks after leaving Y&R tragedy stuck when his younger brother Troy, 18, murdered their Mother by beating her to death with a baseball bat in their Kenosha, Wis home. Bierdz felt extremely guilty because shortly before his Mother's murder he'd revealed his sexuality to her during her first visit to L.A. The "insider" claims that Bierdz's Mother was so shocked that she immediately returned to Wisconsin and that he never saw her again.

Bierdz's brother Troy is now serving a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole.

In 2002, tragedy struck again when Bierdz's older brother Craig committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

With a six-month soap contract things are starting to look up. "The big question is - who will he hook up with on Y&R?" says the source, then adding that all bets are on attorney Rafe Torres, played by Yanni Gellman.

That's really sad - about his real life.. How horrific.. I can't even imagine..

But getting back to the story line - are we just supposed to forget his undying love for Crickett/Christine??

lots of gay people get married and have children - it may start out that they are denying it to themselves or that they are living a lie in order to protect themselves from parental or small town abuse/abandonment.

ok but even if she did give her the cookie it would have been an accident - this isn't Munchhausen (sp) syndrome - surly summer hasn't been in and out of the hospital month after month.

blaming phillys for poisoning her is insane and wait - let me guess - heather is going to be the prosecutor who looses yet another case and STILL doesn't get fired

Sharon's joy that Nick is her baby's daddy is shaken by Summer's condition

Summer is in anaphylactic shock and may have permanent brain damage

A hurt Phyllis tells Nick he doesn't have to act like he's there to support her

Nick insists that he's not leaving

Sharon arrives and overhears the emotional conversation

Nick is adamant that he won't make the same mistake twice - he walked out on Sharon after Cassie died, he won't repeat the mistake with Phyllis and Summer

Sharon prays to God to show her the way through this

Sharon sacrifices the truth for Nick's peace of mind - she tells Jack and Billy that Jack is the father of her baby, and tells Nick she hasn't seen the results yet

Billy and Jack are both thrilled!

Sharon tells Jack she hasn't shared the results with Nick yet because of Summer's situation

Mary Jane eavesdrops and hears the whole thing

As a worried Nick tries to make contact with Sharon, Mary Jane arrives to share the news of Sharon's results with Phyllis

An irate Phyllis tells Nick to lay off being worried about Sharon's baby, it's Jack's anyway

Nick and Sharon are devastated by how close, yet so far, they are to Cassie's prophecy - the DNA test also revealed the baby's gender. It's a girl.

Noah's fears about Summer lead Sharon to tell him that Jack is the father of her baby girl

Sharon is cornered by a well meaning white lie that is now completely out of control White lie!

A manipulative Adam confesses that he's attracted to Rafe - Rafe responds by admitting he's attracted to Adam, too

A freaked out Adam settles down by having hot sex with his clueless girlfriend, Heather

Ashley and Heather bond in friendship

Heather expresses her gratitude for Ashley's support by prosecuting Estella to the full extent of the law

Adam struggles to keep all his balls in the air

Mac picks Billy and gets busy with him in his hotel room at the GCAC

Chloe condemns Billy's irresponsible ways when she walks in on his tryst with Mac

Chloe lets the lovebirds know that Sharon's paternity test is underway

Mac is shocked to learn that Billy might have knocked up his own sister-in-law

Later, Mac and Chloe have a heart to heart

Chloe points out that she loves Billy, warts and all, while Mac is in love with the Billy of years past

Billy lets Mac know that he's willing to let her go if it's for the best

Murphy interrupts to let Mac know that Kay is being rushed to the hospital Glad Murphy is still around!

Billy's distress at Kay's plight convinces Mac that he's still the same guy she fell in love with as a teenager

Mac and Billy are relieved when they learn Kay will be OK and share a heartfelt kiss

The trust Phyllis has for Mary Jane is horribly misplaced

Mary Jane creates a careful scenario that makes it appear that Phyllis carelessly exposed Summer to peanut tainted food This is really grounds for arrest?

Phyllis is arrested!

Mary Jane hopes that Nick is emotionally affected by Phyllis's plight and distress

The true identity of Mary Jane Benson is finally revealed - she's Patty Williams!

Cane gets the results from his own DNA test This is worded weird to me-is this a test he is having done, or the one Jill and Nina are having done?

Michael and the Department of Justice converge in court as Jana gets out on bail

no i think it will be more like what happened to drew - her body won't be found and when they finally make an offer that she'll accept then nikki will be found to have lost her memory and married to someone else.

putting paul out of luck again until he falls in love with Nina and they go off and get married and get pg until she has a miscarriage when Christina finds out and runs back home just in time to see nina in the hospital after cane runs her over with his car

Well, apparently Nikki is not leaving! I just searched the soapcentral boards, and several posters are reporting that TPTB caved and Nikki got her terms met!

But, they are still saying that Nikki will be hit by a car driven by Mary Jane, either on her way to the wedding, or after running out after deciding that she can't marry Paul. It is still listed as a rumor though.

I'm glad Nikki isn't leaving but I do wish that they would work on her "look" she's looking a little "worn out" these days. She's Y&R and it wouldn't be the same without her. I do which Sharon would get that hair out of her face!

If Phillip comes back gay, I hope they make it a more credible storyline than that ridiculous Adam/Rafe thing. I hope they make it something remotely believable.

That said, isn't Phillip a little old for Rafe? Oh, well, I guess it worked for Jack and Sharon...

Just as I suspected....P3 played dead because he did not want anyone to know he was gay. Seems like a good enough reason to kill yourself to me....good grief. What is up with theses story lines.

So we will also find out that is why he became an alcoholic. Not because of all the other reasons from years ago...but because he was gay.

So if he is the real son of Jill and never switched after all than who is Cane??????? and how will Jill come through this? She has gone through a mess of stuff lately.

How come I feel a "Oh come on " moment coming up when they tell us who Cane really is. Seems that Cane use to be a bartender and P3 owns a Bar(just what all recovering alcoholics should own) so was Cane the Bartender ...or will they say that he was P3 lover and that he married Lily as a cover...but he does love her just not in that way....that would be a "Oh come on" moment

Or is Cane really younger than he says he is and looks and is really a Chancellor but is P3 son....that would be a "Oh come on moment".

So what would be your "Oh come on" moment for Cane????

The writers lately seem to be really great at the "Oh come on moments" so sure that it wont be any different for Cane I'm sure....

That's it? I'm surprised there was no on screen kiss and there was no scene 'in bed'. Just a touch of his face and then they are putting their clothes back on. I guess I just expected a bit more after hearing about all the hupla. Not that I still don't blame original Adam for wanting out of this horrible storyline.
