You might get a thousand dollars stimulus package

Same. Unfortunately I just wiped myself out paying a car off early, then 2 weeks later the world began to end and I already sent all my money to Chase.

Feels good not having a car payment that I've had since 1992, but kinda wish I had my cash in hind sight.

I was about 2-3 weeks from buying a new truck. I'm much happier with the $20k down payment i have in the bank and no car payment now. Not to mention, there will be deals to be had, so I might save $10k+ when it does come time.

Well, assuming things don't really hit the fan.

DD is a paraprofessional in a school system that is closed for 6 weeks, so she is basically out of work and unpaid, and her husband is ill and on short=term disability so only making 40% of his normal salary. My sister is a single parent who owns a small boutique shop and is wondering how she's going to pay her rent- both for the shop and for her apartment, so she can keep a roof over her kids' heads. I think I can figure out where that money will go.

I hope I don't get it. Dh is a salaried worker, he is still working so we aren't in need of it.
Let ours go to someone who actually needs it to pay their rent or water bill or buy food for their family, or pay for doctor's visits.
I was going to post something very similar.

Send DH's and mine to someone who needs it more than us.

As of now, no one in my company will be out of work, but it's quite possible someone's spouse/partner will be. Perhaps we can help someone locally.
If you don't want it DONATE it Help someone in need.

YUP, just GIFT it to someone.

Crazy thing is I read something about it costing more money if they have to figure out who needs the money and it's cheaper to just send the money to everyone. I don't know if it's true or not. People should definitely donate if they don't need the money. We are salaried and working from home so we aren't losing any money. At least as of right now.
I heard every adult American. Our kids can sure use it. One is a server and will probably be out of work. Another is in college and probably won’t have work this summer

Save it in case it’s needed. If we end up not needing it, then I’d honestly probably put it in our vacation fund.

That's how I feel. I wish there was a way for them to only give it to those in need due to all of this. I'm a school counselor (so far still getting paid) and DH is in the military so fortunately financially not much has changed for us in terms of immediate issues. We don't need it and I feel so frustrated for those that are literally being destroyed by this. I'm really hoping they find a way to help those in need without being wasteful.

Honestly if I get it(if I qualify) I’ll probably use it to hire someone to do something. I could find something around the house like House painting or re-screening my outdoor porch. Someone could use the money more than me, but I’m not just giving it away though.

Not everyone will be getting one. There's an income cap.
Yeah, if there is an income factor then I would not get one and I am happy with that. We need to help those in need and the economy. Sending me more money would only help the economy if I actively decided to spend more money than usual.

Not to be a downer, but I know many people are salaried and are fine because we can work from home and are getting paid. This $1,000 per person is going to be a drop in the bucket if this goes on for weeks on end. Yes, I hope our jobs can continue to support us - but they can't if the entire economy shuts down for too long. If we need to shut everything down for two weeks let's start it...yesterday.

ETA: Right now, we don't need it either and it would probably help someone else more.

Reading now that the proposed amount would probably be $2,000 ( or more) for every American adult and child, mailed ( or direct deposit) sent by April 1, with another $1,500 check in the summer, and another $1,000 check in the fall -
