You might get a thousand dollars stimulus package

It is logical to us the people, but the fact is that all they really care about is getting their stuff passed.
I won't go as far as to say that they cheer when things like this happen, but they certainly use the opportunity to fast track their agendas when they do.
It's really disheartening, we citizens deserve a Congress that fights for us not for themselves.
I don't want this thread closed so I'll just say YEP!!

I haven't seen anywhere to read the newest version, with the weekend's updates. Do you have a link?

Edited to add: There are two links in the tweet with each having only part of the bill. The part about checks for Americans is in the 2nd link beginning on page 129.

This has a link to the latest version I have seen, which does appear to be very different from the original, though I haven't read it all. In regards to the stimulus checks since that's the focus of this thread, it appears they got rid of the original reduced payments for those with low tax liability and eliminated the requirement for earning at least $2500. No minimum income appears to be needed. The tax year was changed to 2019, and for those who haven't filed for 2019, they would use 2018. For those who weren't required to file a tax return, they would use a Social Security Benefits statement to get your info. Funds would be distributed electronically or by check, and within 15 days after that, all recipients would be sent a letter to their last known address notifying them of how the check was issued and what to do if they didn't receive it.

The income limits remain at $75,000 individual ($1200 check), phased out by 5% up to $99,000.
$112,500 for Head of Household ($1200 check), phased out up to(I think) $136,500.
Married filing joint at $150,000 ($2400 check), phased out at $198,000.

Edited to add: $500/ child still in revised bill

*Since it doesn't seem like the Dems are going to vote it through, I'm not sure any of this really matters, but I just came across it and thought I'd update. I'm not trying to be political with the link, that's just the only place I could find the revised bill.

I hope they stick with using 2019 returns for those who filed and 2018 for those who haven't! I'm glad I put that out in the Universe yesterday, I hope it make it in the final bill :thumbsup2

They extended the filing date to June 15 for 2019 why not just use 2018 for everyone?
I can tell you in my family my oldest was a dependent in 2018, now 2019 she is in a new state all by herself working, for how long who knows? She could use the stimulus $. If they go by 2018 return she won't qualify :sad1: .

I haven't filed yet, if they use 2018 we will get something, if they use 2019 we won't.
I have no problem getting nothing, we are fortunate that dh is a salaried worker, so he may loose all his PTO but he will get paid throughout this.

I could quickly file but we owe this year so I do plan on waiting until the last minute.

I'm hearing one check is anticipated on April 6th and the second one on May 18th. Of course, they are still making the sausage so...
Trump said it in his press conference too. He said if first check “doesn’t work” then they’ll look at doing it again.

Yep - the entire thing seems to be dead as a door nail right now - from what I read, there was quite the verbal battle on the floor before they adjourned
Eye roll. Just get it done already. We are good, but there are ppl who will need it very soon.

It sounds like there is going to be another vote to take up the bill at 9:45am tomorrow, shortly after the stock market opens unless agreements can be made before then.

:scared::scared:

That's a read for when I'm more awake, I think, because skimming through it I couldn't even find the section about direct payments.

ETA: Never mind. I'm definitely too tired for this - I opened the same (wrong) half of the bill twice rather than opening both links.

:lmao:I did the same thing! Sorry, I should have given a heads up. So for those wanting to read the revised bill I posted the link to earlier, there are TWO links on there. Each link only has part of the bill. The section about checks for Americans is in the 2nd link and begins on page 129. I'll update my previous post as well to reflect that.

Is the current proposal the Senate putting out really eliminating low income people from receiving any money? Isn’t that the opposite of what should happen?
