claudia - love the calendar. I just bookmarked it for future reference.

I usually end mine on Sunday night. When I do WDW stuff, I will end those late night my time (EST) so west coasters see them at a reasonable hour. I will end my DL stuff earlier because most of my bidders are east coasters then.

I received an email yesterday telling me my eBay information was not complete and please click on this link and give your password ... This was very suspicious so I forwarded it to spoof@ebay.com and they just informed me that this was, indeed, someone other than eBay trying to get my information. So please, remember to be cautious and do not give your personal information out in an email.

I know this was discussed here before but I can't find the page. Sorry for the repeat question.
Its the usual, I put USA Bidders only in all my listings. Well someone from Mexico won. I feel bad, but I really only want to sell to USA. I wrote a polite email telling him I'm sorry, but I only sell to USA only and noted that its in my auctions. Now what do I do. I know he can still neg. me, but ebay says that if he does I can get it removed because of my terms of service. Do I wait for a response from him, before I do the second chance offer. The item went for 56.00 and the second chance offer was 55.00 so its a nice amount of money. I don't want to wait too long before the other bidder changes his/her mind. NOW, if I change my mind and decide to sell it to the guy from Mexico, my shipping was for 8.00 flat rate. I checked usps and shipping to mexico is approx. 24.00, can I ask him for the diff. in amounts or is this not legal according to ebay, because I have a shipping amount of 8.00 in my listing.

I sure hope this makes sense. TIA

Denise

You can deffiently charge a buyer a different amount for shipping, because your shipping was quoted for the US not Mexico. I would give the winner a day or two to respond and if your email goes unanswered I would offer the second chance.

disneychrista, I gotta say, you always respond so fast and I appreciate that. Thanks

Anyway, I'll do what you say and wait. I figure on waiting 1 day and if I get no response I'll email him 1 more time with the same explanation about usa bidders only. Then I'll do the second chance offer. If he/she doesn't want it then I'll just relist.

Again, thanks for the quick response.

Another question here:

I just won an auction and am paying it with Paypal through my checking account. In the process I came to a page that said:

US Account Overview

some transaction information next

Then under that there are two buttons:
File Selected Items File All

What does it mean to file them? I don't recall ever having to do anything like that for other payments.

Thanks!

cpl100, my best times for ending auctions are Sunday and Monday nights around 10PM to midnight EST.

cpl100, I think your talking about your "recent activity" page on paypal. That page shows all your buying/selling activities. After you finish with a transaction, you can click the selected transaction or all of them and they will be put in a filing cabinet, kinda like when you file your mail(on aol anyway) and they won't be listed on that page. If you then want to see all your transactiions at a later date, then you would click on your "buying activity" or your "selling activity" on the top of that page and the page with all your transactions will come up. I think this is right. I'm sure one of the experienced posters will reply to let us both know.

Yes, I believe the page had that title. I don't have aol, but I do think I followed your explanation. If I do not 'file' the items, are they then lost after a certain time? Thanks for the response.

I just went to paypal site to see and what is displayed on that page is all the transactions you made in the last 7 days. Then I clicked on "items I sold on ebay" and it brought up a page from the last 30 days. After that nothing showed. So maybe they do get deleted(or lost) after 30 days. I sure hope I'll never need anything past 30 days, because I never filed anything. But I don't know that if you file anything, if they'll be saved beyond the 30 day period. I always make a copy of all my transactions from paypal and staple them to a copy of my listing. After I go to the post office I attach the delivery confirmation receipt and my paid receipt to it and then keep that all in a folder. So I have copies of everything, but I don't have copies on the computer. I'm a computer dummy and don't know how to do that. So if I need anything past 30 days, I'm not sure if my copies would be of any use if I had to send them to paypal or ebay. Now I'm SURE I confused you, because I'm so confused about this myself. Hopefully someone who really knows will chime in.

Okay - relisted a bunch of stuff tonight and added a few other things.. Tomorrow I hope to list a lot more..

I have a question for the "veterans" here.. One of the things I have been dealing with in my personal life is that we're going to need to sell our house and move to a much smaller place.. Also the possibility of living 6 at the lake/6 in Florida.. I need to get rid of stuff FAST so I can get a realtor in here to give me a quote..

It is NO exaggeration when I say that I have 3 rooms and 3 closets that are filled to the brim with large boxes of stuff that need to be sold.. Is there a category on eBay where I could try to sell off boxes of stuff for someone else to list individually? If I have to list all this stuff one by one it could take me years!!!!

Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

Denise, I am sorry if you are now confused too. Actually, you did help me though because I had not thought of printing out copies of my transactions. Thanks!

Here is a link for an "ebay listing calendar" that gives you the great, good, bad and ugly days lol

Thanks for posting that. For some reason I thought the two good days were Tuesday and Sunday. But I see from the calendar that it is Thursday and Sunday. Appreciate the tip!

C. Ann,
I am no expert but my suggestion is to put like items in a box and list it a "Grab Bag Lot of **** items" You can list what is in the box or just take a picture.

I have done this with pins - ok now you know one of the things I sell. I put together auctions of multiples, especially when they would garner a low price separately. People are laways looking for a bargain.
I would make sure you use key words like - Lot or Set. People will search for things like that.

Can you believe I have a problem with my very first buyer?

My son sold a game this past weekend for $10.00. (He's very excited by the way!).

I didn't hear anything from the buyer even though I emailed him. So, I clicked on that little link that sends an invoice. I heard back from (apparently) the father who said he 'had to cancel the sale as his son had broken into his ebay account and bought a lot of stuff without permission'.

I emailed him right back stating that is between him and his son and the obligation to pay remains.

But now I am wondering if this was the correct course of action. (If my son had ever dared to do such a thing, I would certainly make him pay out of his own pocket!)

I would have to agree with you. It's the father's responsibility to keep his password safe so that nobody else can use his account. I would file an NPB form, wait the 10 days and file for the FVF credit. Feedback is up to you. You could neg or just not leave any.

Was there another bidder that got outbid? You can use second chance offer and offer it to them at their highest bid. It's better than nothing.

HTH,
Lori

50% off on eBay picture services till Thursday night..

Couldn't have come at a better time for me.. I have a bunch of items that I can't really show all that well in one photo so now I can do additional individual photos at a reduced price! :)

For those of us who use the eBay photo services this will be a big help..

Is there a predictable "high season" for shoppers looking for holiday items? I have some Thanksging stuff to list. (I'll also be doing Valentines, St. Pats, etc). Wonder how far ahead ebay shoppers tend to purchase.

More important: how early do you plan to list items that you think would be good as Christmas gifts?

Hi WDWPLUTO!

I sent an email to Ebay asking the policy in this situation.

There was another bidder who actually bid only $.01 less so I am hoping that's an option.

Could you provide more information about the NPB? Since this is my very first auction, I am at a loss here......

You can put more pics in for free by puttin gthem in your aol ftp and then in your description. Save even more money! Otherwise, be sure when you relist, you remove them..or you'll have ot pay full price.

If the items are inexpensive, sign up for vendio..you can put as many pics as you want for a flat fee of .10 (.05 if you list more than 50 items in a month) and 1% of the final fee..which would prob be less than ebay pics cost. You've seen my auctions..they do a great job with pics.
