Could someone give me a quick step-by-step?? I would be VERY grateful!

I'm not 100% sure about this but - if you have a Paypal account where you accept payments - and SHE has a Paypal account where she uses cash as opposed to a credit card - she should be able to go to her Paypal account, choose the "way" she wants to use her money, and then have it sent to your Paypal account..

That's not awfully clear, is it? :( Sorry, but I'm still not feeling all that great this morning...

Has anyone had much luck with half.com? I have some books that are my Mother-in-Laws that she wants me to sell for her (don't ask how I got into this situation), but from what I can tell, they only sell for like $.75. She isn't sure that it is even worth the hassle. Of course, this is the same woman who had me list quite a few of her jewelry pieces and she put prices on them that I wouldn't even pay to a jeweler, let alone for me to buy sight-unseen over the internet. They aren't anything really special or collectible, just mainly paperback books (romance & thriller types) Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Sandy

I've had more success buying from half.com than selling, if that gives you any indication. ;) I have a friend who sells videos and books on amazon.com, and does okay, but not wonderful. I take my books to a used bookstore, and end up making more that way, as opposed to dealing with the hassle of listing, mailing, etc.

Unfortunately these unexpected expenses have to come out of my eBay/Disney money, so I'm not a happy camper..

Playing PollyAnna here...think of it this way, thanks to Ebay you have the money to pay for these expenses now and you wont have to charge them to a credit card.

Has anyone had much luck with half.com?

My kids have had great luck selling games on half and I've had so-so luck in the last few weeks selling books on half. Research of few of the titles she has and see if any are going for more than $.75. I've had a some books (mysteries) that I've picked up at sales for $.25 sell for over $4. If you decide to sell them on Ebay I'd group them by either author or type of book. And dont forget to mail them using media mail for the cheapest postage.

I'm having a little trouble, and don't know how to handle it. I think this person is having buyers remorse & looking for a way to get out of it. A little background info: I listed some back-to-school clothes & this person got into a bidding war at the end and finally won the auction. The shipping was quite a bit ($25-but the box was heavy & had about 25 articles of clothes in it). She is now emailing me, saying she isn't happy with the clothes & is asking how we can resolve this situation. I emailed her yesterday saying that if she would like to return the clothes, that I would refund her money. She emailed back saying that with the postage charges, it would put her out too much money. Can anyone help with how I should respond. I had thought about offering to refund her the shipping charges, but I'm wondering why I should have to pay the $25 just because she is having 2nd thoughts. Did any of that make sense? Anyway, her last email said

[quote: I have NEVER given anyone negative feedback and I really don't want to do that now. Can we work out a more equitable solution?]

I have 100% positive feedback and really don't want a neg, but it sounds kind of like blackmail to me. Any suggestions as to how I should respond will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Sandy

Just wondering if ebay picture host is good and easy to use. I will finally start selling today (hopefully) and am alittle confused about image hosting. I researched and found 123ImageHost.com and all you do is email them your photo, within minutes they send you your url and then you just add them to your listing. They say their free for 15 days. On some of my auctions I would like to add more then 1 picture, but being I'm a newbie and my listings aren't going to sell for $$, I just wanted to save some $$. Can any one out here recommend an EASY one for a pre ebay seller dummie? Again, many thanks.....

dg39 - I let ebay host my photos. I know many people use a service, but I haven't found any problems with letting ebay do it. The first photo is free and then you pay for each photo after that.

On the clothes issue, I think that if you described the items in good detail, that you shouldn't have to give her her money back. What is it she doesn't like about them? Did she just change her mind? If that is the case, I don't think you should be out that money. What is her negative feedback going to be - clothes not as described OR seller didn't let me have my way?

Not that I can tell from the feedback she has received or given. It just seems a little odd to me, or am I just being paranoid or something? LOL

If i were you I would ask her to be SPECIFIC about each and every item she "isn't happy" with - and why..

I wouldn't be "blackmailed" into dealing with her either.. If she leaves a neg you can respond - and my response would be - "Items exactly as described. Case of buyers remorse."

I've already played this game with someone who tried every excuse under the sun to get out of an auction they won and I wouldn't budge because everything was exactly the way it was described and it was CLEARLY buyers remorse.. She just gave up - and didn't leave a neg either..

Really ticks me off when people do that!!

Ooooh, yuck. Why don't you suggest that she tell you which particular items out of the lot she is unhappy with, and why? And suggest that perhaps you can do a partial refund on the certain intems she doesn't like? That would reduce the shipping and give you more of a sense of exactly where she is coming from.

Also, eBay has rules against threats of negative feedback. In your shoes, I would look up eBay's policies in that regard and quote them back to her. If you did not misrepresent the items and met all your promises, she may be guilty of "Feedback Extortion", though I'm not sure if this is exactly in that category.

Good luck!

Just getting started, you're going to be nervous enough without worrying about where to have your photos hosted.. Go with eBay for now - it's quick and painless.. First photo in your auction is free - each additional photo in that particular auction is 15 cents.. I RARELY use more than one photo - only if it's something that requires seeing all sides or something of that nature..

Good luck! :)

With the clothes issue..... If you described them correctly and there is nothing wrong with them, then it's her problem not yours. I think there are people out there that buy things and then try to get refunds out of you.

Clothing is objective and all we can do as sellers is try to describe them as best we can. I don't sell anything that has stains or rips because I myself wouldn't buy anything with a stain or hole in it. I also disclose any fading and pilling in the description so the buyer knows exactly what they are getting.

But as far as her leaving negative, don't worry about it. I got 2 negatives and a neutral in a span of a month. I don't think I deserved any of them as two were from a non-payer and the other lady was a psycho, but what can I do about it? It hasn't hurt my sales at all that I can tell.

If you don't feel that you did anything wrong and don't feel like you should refund her anything, then don't and don't worry about it. Good Luck! I know it's hard and getting a neg is discouraging, but just keep doing your best and be the seller YOU would want to buy from. :D

When signing up a bank account with Pay Pal can I use my savings account for deposit and withdraws? This question may have already been asked on here Iam sorry if I missed it.

Well considering I don't HAVE credit cards (I personally don't believe in them), you're 100% right! I'd really be "up the creek without a paddle", huh?

I'm really not as upset about this as I normally would be, but I am feeling pretty down that it's likely to take a big chunk of my money.. Guess all I can do is hope that a whole bunch of bidders come out of the woodwork (IF eBay gets their systems problems taken care of) and I can recoup the money fairly quick..

Wish I had some school clothes to sell as they seem to be going like mad right now - but - all my kids are grown and my granddaughter is only starting kindergarten this year.. I did look in the garage sales, but didn't see anything that would be worth buying to resell..

Haven't seen it mentioned yet so I wanted to remind you all that a week from Monday is Labor Day...

With the long weekend you might want to give some extra thought to when you're going to have your auctions start and end...

Who is going to do what? I'm putting up some stuff today that will end next Thursday.. Beyond that, I haven't figured out what I'm doing yet.. Any advice from the "veterans" here??

What about asking her to take a picture of what is "wrong" with the clothes. I am guessing, depending on how high the bid ended up being, she probably didn't intend to pay that much for the them and now is trying to get some money back. Hold firm. I would not give a refund or partial refund, unless she can demonstrate that you misrepresented an item.

Thank You everyone! I guess I just needed to hear others say what I was thinking. Except for the 1 shirt, which was an accident, I did not misrepresent the clothes and I wouldn't sell anything that I wouldn't (or hadn't as the case is since my son wore these clothes) put on my own children. Sandy

Sandy,
It definitely sounds like she is having buyers remorse. Everyone else has given you some great ideas...so the only thing that I want to ad is if you are left negative feedback from this buyer, you do have the right to comment on that feedback and tell you own story. This way any future buyer/seller will get the whole story, not just one side.
If it is any consolation, I once won an auction for a mattress pad. I paid for this immediatedly. When I received it, it was stained and dirty....I knew that it was used as it did not state NWOT/NWT but I was sure that it would have been laundered!!! I couldn't believe it and when I told the seller why I was upset the seller basically told me "too bad" and went on to tell me that he was a lawyer and that if I "dared" to leave any negative feedback then he was going to sue me for slander!!!! Needless to say I left the negative feedback and his response was to leave negative for me....I did nothing wrong...actually I did everything right and I was stuck with my one and only negative so far.....very upsetting, but stuff happens. It will be okay.

I had a guy buy something, then email me that he must have it within one week (fine, I always mail priority) Emailed and said if pyt was made by 5:00 I would mail it that night (our airport PO is opened until 9:00). He waited 2 days before he paid with a check on Paypal (with takes time to clear). Now he's mad and says to cancel his order if the item is not mailed today. I checked his feedback and he has 6 (one negative) the negative has his response as "he refused to send by the date I needed it" (sounds familiar). I have 100% feedback and now am worried about this idiot leaving me negative feedback. Should I refund him or just mail it when the check clears?
