Congratulations C. Ann and everyone else on the board. And a big THANKS to you all for all the good information.

Hey! Now I don't have to go through the Budget Board to get here. Let's see, one less click times 320,276 thread accesses per day = a big sigh of relief from my left mouse button :D

I received an email from Ebay last night asking me to login with my password and that a page with several questions will pop up for me to answer. If I don't, it says my account may be deleted.

I haven't responded to the email yet, because I thought it was strange. It has all the Ebay logos, and looks the same as the login page on Ebay. I did login on the regular Ebay page, and nothing popped up for me.

Has anyone else received this email? Is it authentic?

I got it yesterday, knew it was a fake (eBay will NEVER ask for your password in an email..and neither will Paypal), and sent it on to eBay. This was their response:

Thank you for contacting eBay's Trust & Safety Department about an email
you received from an address that includes '@ebay.com' but that may not
be an authentic email from eBay. We will investigate this situation
immediately.

Please be advised that there have been cases where people have attempted
to gain access to an eBay member's personal information by sending
"spoof" emails. Spoof emails intentionally give the false impression
that they have been sent by eBay to solicit people to transmit their
account information. Based on your inquiry to eBay's Trust and Safety
Department, the email you received was likely a spoof.

eBay is very concerned about spoof email and is taking prompt action to
address the issue. If you think you may have entered personal
information into a spoof site, we advise you to review the information
at the web address below, which contains more detailed information about
the following steps:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/problems-identity-theft.html

1. Change your eBay password and email account password

Periodically changing your password is one of the most effective ways to
maintain security on any Web site. If you think there is a possibility
of a breach in your account security, we strongly suggest that you begin
by changing your password.

2. Forward the email to Spoof@ebay.com

If you haven't already done so, please forward a copy of the email,
(which will include the full header), to spoof@ebay.com. Forwarding the
email will help us investigate this matter more quickly. Please do not
forward the email as an attachment or alter the subject line in any way.
For more information on how to identify a header, please visit:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/information.html

3. Protect your identity

If you entered information such as your social security number or credit
card numbers into a web site that you were directed to via a spoofed
email, you need to take immediate action to protect your identity. The
following web sites have valuable information on the steps you should
take to protect yourself:

eBay Help:

U.S. Government ID Theft Site:

BBB ID Theft Site:

As we move forward with our investigation, we will contact you if we
need further information. In order to dedicate resources to
investigating this type of situation, please submit any other questions
or concerns through our Help System, which can be accessed by clicking
on the Help button at the top of any eBay page.

*Please do not respond to this email as your reply will not be received.
If you need to contact us again, please use the eBay Help system.

We appreciate your efforts in helping keep eBay a safe online
marketplace.

eBay Trust & Safety Team

CAnn..the money you have sent me has been thanks enough!!

Really, you started this thread and have been right there..don't take any of the kudos away from yourself. Congrats!! I wondered when I read the Parks thread, why you didn't have the homey award (short for home boy, or what?) by your name..since I see lots of room there!!

Congrats to you again!!

The auction hasn't ended yet. I was hoping to make sure that I was contacted if the Buyer wants it shipped.

Have you looked to see if he's a seller? If so his region should be there on one of his auctions. I would pull his contact info..that will give you the info you seek as well. He's in an auction with you, so it should be available.

Thanks, he has a zero feedback and is not a seller. I have sent an email to his AOL address just to make sure. Hopefully he will respond soon.

Hi There,

I am leaving for a vacation that will be 18 days long and I still have not received payment from two customers. The auctions ended on 7/2 and 7/13. I have sent numerous emails. Should I send one more email that I am leaving soon and will not have access to my mail to check for payment and then be able to ship? I am trying to tie up loose ends before I go.

Martha

DMRICK,

Thanks for your answer to the Ebay email. I'm so glad I didn't respond. I am forwarding the email to spoof@ebay.com as they recommended. Thanks again!

This is what I would do. Also if they haven't contacted you at all regarding payment, I woud consider filling NPB forms with Ebay, especially the one ended on 7/2.

I had auctions that ended on Sunday and I am leaving tomorrow for 5 days. I put on my auctions that I would be gone and payment received after Noon 7/22 (today) would not be shipped until I returned.

I also put in my emails to them at the end of the auction. And reminders if they say they are sending MO. I also plan to email the remaining few who I haven't receieved payment or haven't contacted for payment.

There was something that he wanted to put under my name in regards to this, but the tag fairies have hit me so many times they couldn't fit it in (due to character limitations) and he included something in the email that I could put in my signature instead, but all I saw was a red box.. :( I asked him if he could have the tag fairies take away all that stuff so he could put whatever this thing is there instead, but I don't know if he'll be able to..

C.Ann's Homey Award:

A few weeks back I emailed the Webmasters a link to this incredible thread IN HOPES that we could get our own board. It would be soooo much easier to find subjects if we did!!

I guess this is what we got instead. It's great that others can find us easily. Hopefully we will still be under consideration for a new board. The information here is PRICELESS and can be a financial boon for others as it's been for me, especially.

I'd like to thank you all for your devotion, your expertise and your incredible advice and support. Everyone here, from the newbies to the experts, deserve an award!!

Just an update. I sent the email to the bidder and he replied back:

sorry to say im in fla. so u let me know what we need to do if i win the bid. thanks

So I guess I have 2 options, the first is to cancel his bid and the second is to figure out how to ship to him if he wins. Does anyone have a third option?

:teeth: How about an impromptu trip to WDW via car and deliver the item en route?!?! :teeth:

That would really be "ebaying your way to Disney!"

(sorry if that's no help but I couldn't resist!)

Great reply!

I'd love to, but I'm doing all of this Ebay stuff so I can go in October. If I just went any old time, it wouldn't be as fun...

...{struggle ensues}...

Hi folks, just got my demented evil twin off the computer. Seems he just can't think straight sometimes :) Silly boy!

Steve

This sounds pretty stupid, but if I give you guys an item number, can one or two of you watch it for me so I can see if my watch counter script is working?

If someone can watch it, please just reply that you did and i will then delete the number so I don't get into hot water here!!!

Removed!

Thanks!!! It worked!!! Only depressing thing is that means NO ONE is watching all my auctions! Although several of them have had a bunch of view. I'll just have to hope that it picks up near the weekend. My book is the only thing selling right now.

Martha - I may not have read all of your post closely enough, but I ended up hauling one of my auction pieces on vacation with me and mailing it in Missouri or Illinois. I took my laptop along with and had my ISP set me to roam where I could dial in nationwide. Once I had the paypal we asked at our hotel where the nearest PO was (I had it packed and ready to go) and we shipped it out there.

Remember though....someone has to stand in line at the post office with all this stuff! It gets pretty time consuming especially if you have a full-time job and family. Ebay also charges fees to list and a portion of your winnings. Make sure the item is worth the time. ALso, beware of non-paying bidders! It can get to be too much!!!

The two that haven't paid are just videos so it wouldn' t be a big deal. I will have my laptop with me too, so I'll just check it. I was more concerned with a payment I may receive in the mail while I am gone.

Thanks for the advice.

Martha
