You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY!!

I read all the posts of not putting negative things in your listings after I had listed all my stuff. I added "all sales final" to my listings because many of the listings I was using as examples to get my "lingo" down had that as part of the listing. I noticed alot of the items I have for bid are not getting bids when others with the same product at the same price are getting bids. I don't mind allowing returns, so should I go in and revise all my listings and take that part out or should I just wait until my listings are relisted to make that change?

Thanks,

Martha

but Paypal doesn't charge extra for us to pay y'all in US dollars!

Actually they do charge me more to get payment from Canadians, but I still accept Paypal, because it's easier for me. I'm not thrilled to accept it and would prefer not to if an item is expensive, since there is no protection on foreign payments and all a Canadian has to do is tell Paypal the item didn't arrive, and they get their money back...and I have no recourse. Because of that, I certainly don't blame people for not accepting foreign Paypal payments.

It is also against the law for us to lie on a customs form. The extra charge is something your country charges you, so it's not fair to ask us to commit a crime and lie. I run an honest business and will not even consider lying...and personally, I have found most Canadians have been very accepting of that..they don't have to wonder if my merchandise is how I say it is, since they already see a snippet of my integrity. Canadians should take into consideration their total cost of an item before they bid. Just how much is the tariff if the item is over $20? I thought it was a small amount if the item was inexpensive. If it's an expensive item and there will be extra charges, I assume you know what they are before you bid.

My items from the Disney store came UPS..that is prob why it cost you so much, becaue UPS charges an extra large fee to fill out the paperwork. Perhaps you should see if you can get places to ship to you USPS.

I don't have any yet, but I have a feeling I will get some next week when I leave it for my NPB,

I'm not sure I understand why you are leaving a neg, if you are already wondering how to get it removed. Maybe you don't realize if you go through square trade, their feedback also gets removed? Why pay for something you can avoid, if it's not something you would be comfortable with?

Here is the prices:

The party who files the case will be charged $20. (USD) to involve a SquareTrade Mediator. All cases involving feedback must go through mediation to try to resolve feedback removal issues.

No, I didn't realize the other party would have their neg. removed too. However, I will the negative FB if I don't get pd. for this. I know some of you feel differently, but I believe the FB system is there for a reason, and though it's not perfect, I think that if someone doesn't pay you, it's your responsibility to let other people know that via the FB system. Yes, I know they will get suspended if enough people file the NPB's, but I also find that many people don't know how to do that, so it may be a long time before one was suspended. I guess if I get retaliatory FB, I do. Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles. I just don't think it's fair to others not to alert them to a potential problem via the FB system.

Well, I am pretty excited! I put up 3 similar items on Thursday, each with a buy it now and I offered to combine shipping. Someone on Friday snatched up all 3 with buy it now!!! Very excited!

I keep looking around at the house and wondering if anyone would be interested...... Kind of fun!

That's fine if that's how you feel..but this is where you find out how awful eBay's feedback system is. I realize eBay only has your word..but I still wish they would make it so that the person who does not pay, doesn't get to leave feedback.

I personally would not leave it to a person who has a small amount of feedback, since they just move on to another name, and I'm stuck with the "red mark". My one and only negative (out of almost 2000 pos) was left by a non payer..they only have my one negative, and I'm sure they have long since moved on...it didn't hurt them at all (at the time I only had about 50 feedback, and I was asked about it until it was finally burried). I will file for my fees back (I think most people know how to do this) since that will actually remove the person permanently after three strikes. But of course it's an individual thing to leave or not leave feedback for a deadbeat, and I understand both sides. The thing that threw me with you, is you were looking to get it removed before leaving it...but now I realize you didn't know their's would go too.

Oh I so agree with you on this point. My negative was left by a non-payer also. This buyer also sent me countless e-mails telling me how horrible I was for leaving him a neutral and that he was a Christian and I shouldn't have done that. How it's okay with his Christianity to not pay me and then leave me a negative is beyond me? I finally blocked him from my e-mail.

Since then and after reading this thread, I will never leave a feedback before one is left for me.

This is a question regarding which currency it is better to list under. Since I am in Canada I have done most of my listings under Canadian funds. I've just started and sold a few things. But I'm wondering if it would be better to list it in US currency. Both currencies are shown in US and Canada, but whichever you list under is the "main" shown. If I list as US currency the charges seem to be a little higher due to the exchange rate. But I am wondering if there are more Americans who will bid if they see the US price first? Does this make sense? Thanks for any input!

I had complained losing money on shipping this week. Well one of my buyers overpaid me on shipping (by almost the same amount I had lost) She had purchased 3 items from me and paid for two with one Paypal transaction and changed the shipping price herself. When I emailed her and told her she overpaid, she told me to keep it.

I am making some handmade items and this was the third time this week my customers had given me extra!!!

Anyway, I am working out the shipping charges - we didn't have all those stupid zones for USPS when I had the shipping store:rolleyes:

Is there a way we could all list our Ebay IDs? I have figured out some of them and checked out your auctions. I just think its fun to see what we are all selling, plus you may have something I want;) ;) I don't want to get in trouble with the DIS though!!

Cinlee..although I prefer not to post mine (I had in the begining and had a small problem with someone who is on this board so I removed it..some of you have it but again I would prefer it not be posted) I believe we were told we couldn't link to eBay (since the Disboards has their own auction site) but maybe a moderator will pop on and let us know if just the eBay ID's could be posted..or if an eBay link is now allowed. Usually if someone posts what they sold and for how much, it's easy to find the auctions. For those who prefer no one find it..then prob it's best not to post what you sell.
You had given me yours at one time, and I have to tell you, your stuff is just too cute for words. No little ones in my family..wish I had your stuff when my granddaughter was little. You are very creative..have you sold in boutiques?

Thanks, yes I am selling in some boutiques but usually on consignment. So far I like the way it works on Ebay and I think when things pick up in the fall it will work great for me.

I can't tell you how much this thread has helped me. I am still going through the learning curve. I would like to make my listings look better. Like right now when I post my descriptions, no matter how I type it, it comes out in one big paragraph. Do I have to learn Html to change it? Does the Ebay listing program offer different fonts, etc. or do I have to subscribe to a service?

Thank you so much!! I'll have to get familiar with that page. Right now I am off to take DD to see Music Man. She is so excited to see her first "Broadway":Pinkbounc

I understand your unwillingness to lie on a customs form. At the same time i have also been burned by a seller who grossly inflated the value of the item i purchased, i'm not sure why, but i was very unhappy having to pay extra tariffs. Tariffs can be up to the value of the item, depending on where it was made and where it's coming from. No one knows what these charges will be exactly before we bid. Look, I am not trying to accuse you or anyone else, clearly you are an honest person and generally i never ask for anyone to lie. I merely wanted to show you that it is very difficult for Canadian buyers - it is a leap of faith for us as well to assume that the US seller is honest and has actually shipped the item according to its real value.

Is there a way for you to send items to Canada with a tracking number? that way you can ensure that the buyer gets the item, and you will be protected.

That's all I'm going to say on this issue.

Is there a way for you to send items to Canada with a tracking number?

We can, but not air letter..so the shipping goes way up..but that doesn't even matter..it's because you aren't considered confirmed addy's...so Paypal just gives back your payment and would charge me. If they say it didn't come, Paypal gives them back their money..period, no questions asked..so it's not much of a risk for them if they pay by Paypal. If I say I shipped it, they get their money, since Canadian's at this time do not have confirmed addy's..and I have to send to confirmed addy to get Paypal protection. They can prove they paid via Paypal..I can't prove (to Paypal's satisfaction) I sent to confirmed addy. That's another reason (besides they charge us more) why some people would prefer to not take Paypal from international buyers.

I hope you emailed the person who put the incorrect amount on the custom forms. Maybe it was a new person. I assume most people know (or should make it their business to know if they ship internationally) that only the bid goes on the item. I know some of the Canadians who have paid customs have also brought in the eBay form and customs has accepted it as the correct amount if the incorrect amount is on the form.

No one knows what these charges will be exactly before we bid.

I would take that up with your customs officials. I've been told in advance by clients what the extra cost was going to be, so I assumed there was a chart of some type to go by. Maybe my clients have bought enough they have the general idea.

I just got back from the church flea market with a stack of old brochures, recipe booklets and such. I paid all of $2.00 for the lot. Anyway, how old does an item need to be before you can call it vintage?

I think this is better done via PMs or email, Cinlee. I also like checking on fellow DISers stuff and have bid on them, so far I've only be OUTbid! :p

before you can call it vintage?

I think it depends on the age of the seller..I have seen items from my era (the 60-80's) called vintage LOL!!

Robin - I have bid on fellow DIS'rs auctions too, only to be outbid -darn. Made the mistake of going out of town during one and didn't get back in time.
