The thinking here is that the men will be watch football leaving the woman to shop the internet & Ebay.

Thanks for the advice about listing in advance. I will not be home Sunday night to list. I am hoping to set it up in advance on the Ebay function mentioned above. Is that possible with the Ebay one? Or do I have to try sparedollar or turbolister?

Yes, you can do it through ebay. I'm pretty sure it is on the same screen in which you indicate the duration, close to that area.

Good luck!

Maybe it's hopeful thinking..if anything, it's hopeful wishing LOL. It's getting so you can't guess on eBay. Last Christmas, when my family left, and hubby and I were about to retire..I checked my email and found over a dozen buy it nows..people anxious to spend their Christmas money. Who would have thought? Who the heck can ever figure it out..when people will buy!!

With everyone talking about Christmas shopping, I thought I might post a dilemna I'm having. Each year I try to get my kids grandparents a present from them that is special. I have done the coffee mugs & t-shirts with their pics, and one year I gave them a small wooden family tree that had the kids names, my DH & my name & the grandparents names on apples hanging on the tree (that one was COOL!) But my creativity has gone Kaput!! I can't think of anything for this year. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm sorry this of OT. I'm outta ideas. Thanks in advance. Sandy

Spent 97 minutes with live-help....and got NO help whatsoever! Time to ditch the TL and the mandatory updates that cause so many problems.

What other auction listing sites are EASY to use? I don't care if I have to pay - it's better than losing money because of the TL.. Can't even list DIRECTLY tonight because of eBay problems.. Tried going thru IE but the problems are still there.. Techs could care less.. They're just ignoring everyones complaints..

Who uses something OTHER than Turbo Lister?

Are your kids of an age that they could make something and would the grandparents appreciate that type of present? One year my kids did one of those stained glass crafts (pretty large piece) for their grandparents to hang in a window and it went over well.

Do they correspond by mail still? You could take a good picture of your kids (or even all the grandchildren if there are more and they are handy), upload it to your computer and buy a set of notecards that has the picture on the front. You can have wording inside or not. You also could do this but make a mouse. Also, have you ever done one of those calendars where each month is a different family picture? That's always nice.

Good luck!

Okay, I guess I'll give it a go tonight and see how I do! :)

Thanks for the ideas! I had thought of the calendars, but with 3 sets of grandparents (we all live within 20 miles of each other) I'm afraid that I would be in over my head! LOL The kids are 10 and 6 (he turns 7 on 12/27). I was looking on Ebay and found mousepad kits that I could put their pictures on, but my printer is not working right now & with Christmas presents to buy, can't really afford to get it working. Thanks. Sandy

We made stepping stones for the grandparents last year. The kits are at Wal Mart for around $10. The kids put in their handprints and some shells, colored stones, things like that. We also put in the year -- if any of the grandparents have a small garden to put something like this in.

I use and love Vendio.com.

I use the one with no monthly fee, but where you pay .10 a listing for the first 50 a month..and .05 for the rest. Nothing for pictures, and I believe it's 1% end of auction fee. I like it, because for that dime, I can put up 10 pictures (and there pics come out so nice!)..and relisting is easy, and scheduling is free. I already have tomorrow's auctions ready to go.

C.Ann-
I have been having problems with the last required download on TL for about a week. When I click to calculate fees it goes through the motions and freezes when it's supposed to be updating the program.

Have you tried this...
I've used CTRL/ALT/DEL and End Task to close the TL program, gone back in to TL. The Ready for upload list is still there so I click calculate fees and finish the process of uploading.

Am I reading it correctly? .10 to list + 1% of the total selling price? So that would be in addition to Ebays Final fees?

yes..and worth every single penny to me LOL! Of course it does tons more..such as keeping track of sales, inventory etc..but even without that stuff..just being able to list as I want and put them up at my convenience, use all the pics with having to ftp them , is worth it. Spare dollar (I think that is the name) is also good..I tried it when it was new and still had growing pains, so I wasn't impressed..but I know people really love it now. I may try that one after the Christmas rush. I've been using Vendio for a couple of years.

I had planned on using my own website to host pics and start using TL more..but that isn't going to happen now.

I am a firm believer, that if you lack in time..you need to spend money to make money..and I don't have a lto of time to mess with stuff that doesnt' always work.

I just went over and check out spare dollar..they have come a long way baby! If I didn't have to rewrite everything..I think I'd switch LOL.

LOL, there's always cut and paste....

LOL, there's always cut and paste....

I'd have to open up over 200 auctions (I sell the same things over and over) and cut and paste...and it's not that simple..all th epics would have to be reloaded, all the littlethings checked..gosh tired just thinking of it. Just seems like a lot of work right now : (

DMRick -- I think my sis just may have ordered some ebay things from you! She said she ordered some personalized christmas gifts (I think I read here that you do personalized items, right?) from a very nice person with LOTS of feedback and that they came from NY! I realize there are lots of people from NY, and I'm sure many are very nice...but it's possible, huh? If it was you she bought from, she is tickled pink with her purchases and can't wait to frame them to give to her neices and nephews for
christmas! :teeth:

Well - I went to Sparedollar last night and signed up for the free trial.. Then I couldn't make heads or tails out of HOW to use it! :(
I am INCREDIBLY dense when it comes to all this computer stuff so.......................................

Got up this morning - uninstalled my Turbo Lister (again) - and reinstalled it.. BUT - this time I turned OFF my Norton Virus auto-start and auto-protection FIRST and the TL not only installed right, but when I had to do the dreaded "update" it went right on through..

Course that doesn't mean that they won't have another bugged mandatory update tomorrow, so I'm trying to get as much up tonight as I possibly can..

Keep your fingers crossed that it continues to work until I can figure out Sparedollar !!!!!
