You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

Tiggersmom, you also have the option of printing labels without pre-paying the postage. You still get the free Delivery Confirmation. You then take the packages to the PO, they will scan and you can charge the post all at once. Diana

Just to add to what floridagirrl2 said, if they do confirm their addresses w/Paypal after they've paid you, you won't be able to tell. The details of the original transaction won't show a change.

The only way to be certain that a buyer is now confirmed is to refund their money and then have them re-send it. I just did this with a relatively expensive item -- the buyer ignored the statement in my auction that I only ship to confirmed addresses but fortunately was willing to get confirmed and then resend the payment to prove that she was.

I don't state in my auction that I only send to confirmed addresses. :( I never had this come up before. Both of my unconfirmed buyers only have about 6 feedbacks each. But they are all positive. One item was $4.99 plu shipping. The other was $26 plus shipping.

If I send it to them and then transfer the Paypal money to my checking account, what could they do to me?

Then what was the point of doing a reserve and not just putting that as the starting price?

I was listing an expensive collectible item that does not show up on e-bay too often. I wanted to protect myself and make sure I got what I felt I needed to - but was curious as to what people were willing to bid for it if it did not sell at my reserve.
It ended up selling for almost twice my reserve so all was good!

As a rule I don't care for reserve price auctions though.

I have 2 buyers who have unconfirmed addresses. They are both "verified" buyers however. What should I do? Do you mail to unconfirmed addresses? Should I email them and ask if the address is correct? Am I covered if they do a paypal reversal (or whatever that's called?) They have both paid via paypal immediately.

Maggie

I do because that is my personal situation exactly. (I am a verified buyer who refuses to give a credit card number to Paypal just so they can check my address).

Paypal can take the amount out of your checking account--really! Although I don't sell expensive items, and have never had a Paypal chargeback, the horror stories I've read were enough to make me use a small, secondary bank account for my Paypal account. Yes, I'm paranoid!:)

Maybe it is not that ignored it, maybe they just didn't know. I couldn't tell you if my address is confirmed or not. I have moved TWICE since setting up my paypal account. They have both my checking and credit card info but my address has changed since I've done that.

Personally I will mail to where ever the buyer requests. And so far I have had luck with my sellers doing the same, because I have always had packages sent to my work address because no one is home during the day to receive them.

I had an auction close and my payment terms are as follows (its listed on every auction:

Please read all descriptions and information carefully. If you have any questions or would like additional pictures, please email me prior to bidding. All bids are binding once placed, so please bid carefully.

and

Seller's payment instructions & return policy:
My preferred method of payment is Paypal. Cashiers checks or money orders also accepted. If you need other options, email me and perhaps something could be worked out. Item will be shipped when funds are recieved. Not responsible for any damage incurred in shipping. Insurance is available at buyers expense.

So, I get an email from someone who wants to pay by personal check. She has 167 feedback, all positive about good payer etc.
What do you think? Would you accept a personal check? Of course I wouldn't ship until 10 days after deposit (which I would tell her).
I don't want to get burned with bad check fees.

If they have good feedback, then I would take it. A returned check is so much worse for the buyer- $30 a shot! It doesn't make sense to send a small $$ check for NSF.

I guess the way I look at it is, the terms are clear in the auction. If they don't know whether they're confirmed or not, it's their responsibility to clarify, either with me or with Paypal.

If I'm ever unclear about terms, I always make sure I know what I'm doing before bidding.

Ok...I had an auction close 8 days ago...I sent the winner a invoice and then 3 days later a reminder. As of today I have recieved no contact from the buyer. So, today I sent another email through ebay. Saying that I hadn't been contacted and that in my auction I had stated clearly that all payments must be made within 10days. Well that email just came back undeliverable due to a full mailbox. What should I do???

What I did with a no-contact, no-payment, was on the 11th day, I sent a NPB alert, left negative feedback and sent a 2nd chance offer to the next highest bidder who immediately paid thru BIN. I haven't ever heard back from the original buyer but I didn't expect to anyway.

Just didn't want to think I was jumping the gun.. Seeing I just started selling and didn't know if there was any thoughts against waiting to starting the NPB.

What I find is a lot of times people pay with money order and they don't always tell you they are sending it. Usually the money order just shows up. So personally I would wait a few days.

While I believe people have every right to file a NPB alert on day 11 (if their auctions say 10 days) and leave negative feed back and do the second chance offer, personally I would never do that. I always email again. Maybe pull their contact info. Usually that will snap them into action. They don't want people calling them.

I agree with Maggie, but maybe it depends on what you're selling. I sell out-of-print books, magazines, and ephemera, and I rarely have people who don't pay, but about one out of 10 is slow to pay. My usual pattern is to send an invoice--if no response within 2 weeks, email and ask if they still plan to purchase the item. I'll wait another week to hear from them, then file an NPB between the 3rd and 4th week post-auction.

I've heard that some items (makeup, perfume, videos/DVDs, electronics, etc.) have a much higher NPB rate, so I assume sellers of these items are quicker to file NPBs and offer the items to the 2nd highest bidders, or relist.

Thanks for the tip on insurance. The insurance rep from his former company said she would put in a call today and try and push it through - that should help!

Had one good item - DH & I went to the casino for buffet tonite and they waved me down and told me I won $150 on the Nascar Challenge last week! Yippee! Course, unfortunately that won't go to Disney - that goes to my Easter trip to Dubuque this weekend!

I almost filed a NPB alert once - then the MO showed up a couple days later - glad I waited. I did file it on another person who never did pay me. Now I have to go back and find the info on how to post a negative after it has disappeared from your feedback list. (Unless someone else can tell me quickly - if not, I'll find it!)

Ok, what is an FPO address? It doesn't look like it normally does on paypal, it looks like it was typed in the fields. I remember reading about this on here before but didn't really pay close attention. I state I only ship to US address, and there is no state on this address! Is there anything special I have to do? Does it cost more to ship to this? I don't want to print the label til I know more about this. Thanks in advance!

That is someone in the service. The only thing different is, you will have to fill out a customs slip (not a biggie), and you can't have delivery confirmation. Costs the same to ship it if it were US.

Thanks for the quick reply! I had a feeling it was someone in the service, but that's about all i could remember. So, i can get the customs form at the PO? Do I just have to state what is in the package? thanks!

Well, this guy left the state blank and paypal won't continue without a state? is there a certain one that is used for all service people? or should i email him and ask him what state to put in. I was doing so well and now i have all these questions! thanks!

Okay, I've been reading that you guys start your auction for what you wouldn't mind selling the item for. I am new to this and have been selling items from around the house. Some things have sold for more than I thought they would. However, a lot of items only sell for 99 cents. This week, I am selling some items that I bought to resell and some items that are new that I had. I put starting prices of at least what I want to get. However, no one is looking at them. Last week I did the same thing with some home made craft items and most didn't sell. Am I just not selling the right things? Is Ebay business slow right now? Or, do people just not want to bid on my items because of the high starting bid? Anyone care to look at my past and current auctions and offer some advice? I have also thought that maybe my auctions are not flashy enough. Should I get more creative with colors and fonts?
