You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

For those you that do reserve auctions....

I just got an email asking me for the reserve price on my auction. I also have a Buy It Now option on the item. If the reserve price is met, the BIN option disappears. The difference between the two isn't much money but BIN guarantees me immediate payment.

Do you let people know the reserve on your auctions if they ask? I figure that the BIN price should act as a clue but I guess I'm wrong on that. What would most of you do?

As a buyer I ask what the reserve is and they always tell me.

I asked eBay how do I find out when I was very new and I was told to ask.

If I did choose to do a reserve auction I guess I'd do the same. I don't do them, though, just because I really can't stand them as a buyer and don't choose to do that to my buyers. I DO understand the need for them, though.

I hope nobody mids a quick question: I just sent payment for a DVD set I won and it's coming from CA.Long long does it take to arrive?

That depends on when, from where and how it's sent. If the buyer is sending it Priority, it takes 2 to 3 days from when it's mailed. Media mail can take up to weeks! Did your seller point out the way it's being shipped? Ask them to email you when it's sent and if there is a delivery confirmation you can track it.

HTH!

or that you will be refunding her original purchse price of $0.99.

I wouldn't offer to refund. I would just say, this package will remail, once I recieve "such and such" for shppng and handling. If she's paying Paypal, don't forget to add the fees under the handling. Not your fault, you shouldn't have to put out any money.

Last week the stuff I sold was like items I have purchased through ebay in the past so I just shipped the items the way I've recieved them. Well this week I'm selling a few small appliances. I have the original boxes and was wondering If I can wrap them in paper and then ship them, or should I put them in other boxes with packing material. I really don't think there's a chance of these getting damaged in shipping but I don't want a buyer to be unhappy about the way I packed them.TIA

I've only used a reserve price once and I stated in my description exactly what the reserve was.
I did ask someone about his reserve once and he was none too happy that I even dared ask!

Then what was the point of doing a reserve and not just putting that as the starting price?

A bidder paid me two weeks after the auction closed with a personal check. I do not accept personal checks and that is clearly stated in my auctions. But that is just part of it. The day before her check arrived the item (a WDW pin) was damaged in a vacumn cleaner accident. When her check arrived I emailed the buyer immediately and told her what happened and said I was returning her check and then made an offer to give her a free pin of equal value as my apology. One day went by, two, three...no response. Finally after 5 days I simply mailed her check, the free pin and an apology letter to her which she should of received by now but still no response. Did I do the right thing? After all of this I sure hope I don't receive my first negative feedback.

Since next Sunday is Easter....would you hold off listing lots of items??....I was going to place a bunch of items I have been gathering this week...but all of a sudden I realized it was Easter...and it probably would be better to wait a week...

I would wait to list until the next week. Get everything set up in Turbo Lister and the Sunday (assuming you are going to be home) you just click upload.

I will be getting all my auction ready and doing this, expect I have to wait three weeks because we will be out of town the Thursday - Sunday after Easter.

Guess I need to figure out how turbo lister works...???

I know with Easter next week, I plan on just doing relists. Just in case anyone has non-buyers remorse.

OK here is an unusual what would you do.

I sold an item, the winner has not paid nor contacted me but yet already left me positive feedback saying smooth transaction.
I emailed to say I thought they may have confused auctions, but still no response. It has now been 7 days and I am very specific on payment within 10 days (exception if you are paying MO from overseas).

Now I feel bad filing NPB form.

Should I get his info and call them - not sure on etiquette on this situation?

tiggersmom, I would get the info and call him/her. It does sound as though there was an auction mixup. Last week I had to call a buyer because all of my emails to her kept bouncing and she listed two different street addresses on her paypal payment. The po told me the street addresses while in the same city, had different zip codes and I could not list both. Turns out one of the addresses was her parents' address and where her bills go and the other was her college address. I think calling is the best when there is a discrepancy.

I think I'm out of stuff lying around to sell. I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have much luck getting stuff at yardsales or thrift shops and reselling? I made over $500 and now I want more, lol....... It is very addicting!

I think you should give him the full 10 days--just send him one more email saying asking him to respond immediately if he receives it, as you are concerned your emails aren't getting through.

I have never called any Ebay customers, although I've had a couple of customers call me (one to ask questions about an items, one to let me know a book I mailed hadn't arrived after 30 days). I generally think people are either going to pay or not, and that a phone call won't make any difference (even if your emails to them are bouncing, your auction terms are clearly stated, and if they plan to pay, THEY shouldn't have any trouble getting in touch with YOU.) That's just me, though!

if I remember right it's not Media Mail so I'm thinking regular or prioty

disney4us2002 - I have had pretty good luck at yard sales and flea markets.

I have always at least broke even, and most of the time made a modest profit. Then every once in a whil you hit that gem and bingo makes up for all the break evens.

Never pay asking price unless you really know the item, then nonchalantly grab it. Never put an item down at flea market or yard sale if you think you may want it, people are funny. They don't want something until someone else does.

I deal almost exclusively in Disneyana, with the odd art glass thrown in, and never go anywhere without my books on both. So I would suggest getting a couple good books on your area.

Disneyana - Tomarts is a great guideline.

I deal mostly w/ selling clothing. During my free time I always browse through the competition--since I like to see what sells the best. Anyhow-- just a head's up-- Abercrombie summer clothes--- my goodness. Most are going for $10-30 for used single items. They always do well-but this is exceptional. Too bad-- I don't currently have any. So clean out those closets and weed through those wardrobes.

Tia, I recently shipped a Cuisinart Food Processor that was still in its original packaging. I didn't want to risk sending it as is. I found a box just slightly larger. I stuffed newspaper down the sides and then I found a couple of small sheets of packing foam from another box. I used these to pad the top and bottom of the box and taped it up. It arrived safe and sound and the buyer was very pleased. I think its worth the extra time of packing it a little better.
