You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

If i have a fast payer, I will leave the FB right away, as I feel they deserve immediate feedback for their fast payment. If i have to send reminders, emails, etc., they will get their feedback after i get mine, IF i get mine. I never crosscheck to see who did and didn't leave it.

Glad to hear your responses with regards to feedback..

I never crosscheck to see who did and didn't leave it.

Had to giggle...I've only got one feedback so crosschecking was easy for me...:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

LOL! well, that ONE feedback will turn into many more! I only started end of Feb and already have 79 feedback! I wish they would all leave it, but oh well. I like to cleanout my "feedback" page but i guess others don't bother to check it.

When I buy something, and it arrives in the condition I expected it to be, I leave feedback. When I sell, I wait until they leave feedback, so I know it was in the condition they expected it to be.

This is exactly what I do although I wait for an email OR positive feedback to know they are a satisfied customer. If they aren't happy for whatever reason then my job as a seller isn't over until I attempt to correct the problems and their job as a buyer isn't over until they accept a reasonable solution. My opinion is that until the transaction is final then accurate feedback cannot be left.

OK, have a pricing question. I listed something that I think should sell pretty good. I think I listed the starting price too high though. I just want to make sure I get what I paid for it. Well, more atually! LOL
Would I be better off lowering the starting price and placing a reserve instead? And if so how much should I start it at? Does that really matter if I have a reserve? I guess .99 would make it attractive.

That's where I always mess up, my starting price. What do you all do????

When I first start I too left it as soon as I got payment. But after a couple of bad experiences I started to leave it after I was notified that the item was received. I do not require feedback be left for me, just that the buyer lets me know they recieved the item.

As far as pricing, you should price the item for what the least amount you want to get for the item. If you price it at $.99 would you be happy to get that $0.99? As far as reserves, I personally do not understand it. If you want it to sell for a certain amount just start it at that amount.

This is just MY opinion. I don't ever do reserves. I don't like reserve auctions, so I don't have them. If you are selling clothes, I wouldn't start cheap. There are so many clothes out there that it is really really hard to have your item get lots of exposure unless it is a big name brand. On my clothing, I start it at what the lowest price is that I will take. On everything else, I start all of my auctions at $1.99. I have sold some American Girl stuff, and I started it at $1.99, and it sold for $30. I sold a coat that I started at $1.99 for $84. I've just found that if it's going to sell for a big amount, it's going to sell. When I start my auctions low, I get more bidders because the price is low. I've only had two auctions that I sold the item for the opening cost.

Can anyone explain to me the selling of ads? I've seen it mentioned here a few times and I don't understand. Why would anyone buy old magazine ads? What is considered old?

If I have had a lot of back and forth with them and remember who they are, I might (and I did when I was newer)..but I use automatic feedback leaver (vrane.com), so it really slows me down, to go look it up and leave it. People seem to really like my fast shipping (and I sell personalized items, so I have to "make" the item as well), and that's how I choose to spend my time..getting the item out..and more up on eBay. I"m in the money making business, and I can only make money if I keep people happy..and they seem to be very happy.

If the buyer made the purchase within the terms of your auction then they have done what was asked of them. Why hold their feedback hostage?

I resent that..I've never held feedback hostage. Although I prefer to leave it when the transaction is completed, I've never done it that way, because I'm afraid of a neg...I do it that way because I prefer to wait until the transaction is completed, as stated. Although I see many people change their feedback "strategy" once they are given an unfair neg.

We all have our own businesses on eBay..we work for ourself, and run it as we seem fit..if you want to leave it right away, I have no problem with that. If I want to leave it at the completion of the sale, you should have no problem with that. It doesn't seem to stop people from buying from me..and I have many many repeat customers, who already know when I leave feedback.

Collectors buy ads, presumably to frame or display in some way, or to see what designs/models were available during a certain era. "Old" doesn't matter as much as "rare" ;) . For instance, I have seen ads sell for a lot of $$ that were only 20-30 years old but were from the movie industry magazine Variety and were promoting certain movies to the industry for Oscar votes.

It's amazing the variety of things that people collect! For just about anything that is collectible, rare ads for these items are also collectible. When I come across an ad that looks like it might be collectible, I do a search on closed Ebay auctions for the ad.

Here's an example of a newer ad that apparently is in demand:

I posted a few pages back that I have a bunch of magazines to sell. I have 23 years worth of one magazine. I know that there are some ads out there that sell. Can you give me any more advice? I've been selling for quite a while, and I have no clue how to search items that are ended. And, by the way, thanks for that link. That ad you listed above is in one of the magazines I have. I think that one must be from the second season because I have one that is a year earlier too.

Thanks for your help. You can PM me is you'd like also.

To search items that have sold, click on "search" at the top of the Ebay screens, type in your search terms, and click on the search box. This will give you a list of open auctions with your particular search terms (e.g. Sex and the City Ad). Then look at the left side of your screen and scroll down to a yellow box that says "display". Click on the link for Completed Items. This will give you all the completed auctions for the last 2 weeks that included your search terms in the title.

I look at closed auctions to get an idea of what's selling, what key words and categories seem to work the best for the items I have to sell, and how much items sell for.

I put some trading cards on eBay. From what I understand the cards are fairly rare. It was a 5 day auction that ends tonight. A guy e-mailed me offering me 15 dollars for the cards and shipping but I told him I was going to see how the bids went. My starting bid is $3.00. Another auction I saw had 25 cards and they sold for $5.14. I have over 230 cards I'm selling. I haven't had any bids yet but almost 100 views. The auction ends in a little more than 5 hours. Should I take the guy's offer or risk it to see how the auction goes before it ends?

Do you ever turn anyone in for doing something wrong as far as ebay policy goes? For example, the person who was charging a fee for paypal. Do you turn the no-no's in or just let them go?

I did once, I forget what it was now but I was told that LOTS of people had reported it! :p

My instinct with those cards is if there are no bids and not a lot of views to sell them to him. If they are getting a lot of hits, you could come out ahead by holding out to the end of the auction. Course someone could bid $3 and you could be stuck!

HELP! I sent a beanie around 3/4. Customer won it for .99 and $5.50 Priority shipping. So after ebay and paypal, I made about $1.50 on it, plus still had to pack, go to PO, ship etc. It came back to me last week as unclaimed!! I emailed and that bounced. I contacted her through ebay and she indicated she had been out of town on business (this was close to 4 weeks before I received it back!) and to please resend it, but regular mail was fine because of the circumstances.

Hold on! I still had to pay the original postage. Now I am supposed to resend and that will cost about $1.56 without the envelope! Maybe more with it. Plus to get it there decently I will have to use a more expensive bubble mailer to keep this beanie safe.

How would you handle this? I imagine she thinks I just get my $$ back because it was unclaimed! Ha, that would be the day if the PO gave back $ for what was not delivered!!!

Any advice on what to write her?

She left positive feedback a day after paying so that isn't really an issue.

Well I've gotten about 20 new hits within the past hour or so, so maybe people are just waiting to bid battle within the last minutes? Wishful thinking:rolleyes: ... I'll just let the chips fall where they may. Besides, if I get $3.00 for them, that's $3 more for something I have no use for.

JGates -

I would tell her to resend the item you will need additional shipping of [whatever you deem necessary] or that you will be refunding her original purchse price of $0.99.

I hope nobody mids a quick question: I just sent payment for a DVD set I won and it's coming from CA.Long long does it take to arrive?

Has anyone ever sold on the Ebay/UK site?

I see things over there I am selling going for bigger prices even with exchange rate.
