You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

Now that I sell I find I read other auctions more carefully especially regarding the shipping/handling issue. I saw an auction yesterday that I might've considered except in the s/h part the seller stated that she sends everything PM and charges $2 handling for her packing costs, etc. Since I'm selling now I realize that PM boxes, envelopes, etc are free. This was not something that needed to be bubbled or wrapped with extra caution. It just bugged me so I didn't bid. Two months ago I wouldn't have known PM boxes were available for free. Thank goodness for the Dis....

I need your help. How much would you price original 18x16" acrylic on canvas paintings of Disney attractions e.g. the castle, space mountain, splash etc, for? I paint them, but have never sold them. And have no idea how much they are worth. E-bay has many paintings listed, but many of them are reproductions of works of art that are mass produced in China.

I think that a lot of sellers add a handling fee to help cover the expenses of ebay too. Then there are people who have to a distance to the post office. The expenses of ebay really do add up. I think that I'm somewhere in the middle on my shipping charges. I try to cover some of my expenses.

I'm curious..can you legally sell them, or would they be copyright infringement? I don't know the answer, but I do wonder.

Ok - I have my first non-paying bidder and need some advice on what I should do.
The auction ended 2/28. My payment terms are to contact me within 3 days and payment to be received within 10 days. The bidder went through the ebay checkout the next day (2/29) and said they would be sending a money order (the auction total including shipping was $68.15).
On 3/11 I still had not received the money order and emailed the bidder. She responded the same day and apologized that she had not sent it out yet, but she had a family emergency (her mother was in the hospital) and promised to send it out within the next few days.
On 3/19 I still had not received the money order and emailed her again to see if she had mailed it. No response.
On 3/22 I sent a payment reminder through Ebay. No response. On 3/25 I forwarded the reminder and said the following:

"Hi I have sent a few invoices since last Friday, but have not heard from you. It has been almost a month since this auction ended and I have not yet received payment. I have been very reasonable as I understand you have been going through some family problems, but I need to receive payment by 3/31 or I will need to file a non paying bidder report with Ebay so I can get my final value fees back. Thanks and I hope to receive payment from you soon so I can send you your vouchers."

Still no response - unless a money order has miraculously appeared in my mail today, I was going to file an NPB on the auction. How do I go about doing that? And am I handling this correctly?

I did a search and this same bidder managed to find the time to bid on (and win) an auction on 3/18

Thanks for any advice anyone has!

The few slow payers i've had lately have all had surgery or babies (or so they say). I hate to be insensitive to real life situations and maybe i'm a skeptic, but I just don't believe them. I've never said that to any of them but it seems like an easy excuse as to why you haven't paid for 10 days or longer. You're alot more patient than i would be, waiting a whole month! I have yet to file a NPB but i'm sure sooner or later, I will. I'll be anxious to see how to go about this also.

rgionet -
As it's been a month and you've had no response to emails or reminders, I would go ahead and follow the NPB process. You've been more than patient with this buyer.

I too have a current NPB. She emailed me within a few days of auction's end stating that she'd pay with PayPal on Thursday (last week). That was fine, I figured she needed to wait for money to be deposited in to her linked account to make the transfer. I received no payment so I emailed her Saturday - no response. I emailed her again on Monday - still no response. The last email I told her I would give until this Thursday to submit payment or I would file NPB. She has one more day.

It's quite frustrating, especially when so many buyers pay on time.

You've been very patient! It's definitely time to file an NPB (you have a maximum of 45 days after the auction ends to file an NPB; like you, I'm pretty patient, but I never wait longer than 30 days to file). Ten days after you file for NPB, you can file for the Final Value Fee Credit. Here's the Ebay link you need to file a NPB--after you click on this link, click on step # 3.

I wouldn't try to guess on this one...it's really for a professional to tell you. Disney is very agressive (very, very) when persuing what they consider Copyright infringement. I would ask a copyright lawyer..especially since Disney sells their own pictures of their park. I don't know if the castle, etc, may or may not be considered their trademark, and if that may play into it. I know at one time, someone was selling Elvis Presley's Graceland paintings, and was stopped by the owners...and if I remember right, they could continue to sell paintings, where Graceland was just an "accident" behind the picture, but not if it was the focus. The cost to defend yourself, even if found in your favor is way too high to not know for sure. I'm on several boards where we discuss and argue copyright all the time..and I'm always amazed at what we are allowed and not allowed to use.

Thanks for the advice - I wasn't sure if I was being insensitive, but I also didn't realize you have to file a NPB within 45 days! So I have just officially filed my first one

Can I relist the item right away or do I need to wait a certain amount of time???

I did that npb alert today as well and I didn't realize it was another chance for the bidder to purchase. I sent a 2nd chance email to my next highest bidder and she bought it immediately and has already paid. So now what the heck am I supposed to do if the original winner decides to pay? I state 10 days to pay and it has been 12 so I feel okay about moving on but I didn't realize I had to give my winner another 2 wks. That is just tooo darn long. As for the original winner I sent an invoice and then the reminders every 3 days and she replied to one saying she would pay that day but didn't and that was last Wednesday. I left negative feedback today so I doubt she'll try to pay now. All this for an auction less than $10...

You can relist at any time once the bidder has not met your auction terms (for instance, if your auction says that payment is required within 10 days, you can relist in 10 days--you are not required to hold the item for the original bidder past your stated auction terms). At least, this is what the Non-Paying Bidder letter used to state--I haven't had to file an NPB in a long time so I haven't read the letter recently.

However, if you want Ebay to credit you with the insertion fees if the item sells when relisted, you must have already filed for and received the Final Value Credit. Here's the link that explains this last part:

Hey all,
April 15 is fast approaching and that means tax time! Which means the post office gets crazier and crazier and the lines get longer and longer as the 15th approaches! Just something to keep in mind as you list in the coming week or so. I generally take a break this time of year because I can't deal with the craziness!

Yes, the boxes are free. But sometimes bubble wrap or cushions are not free. If we cant find bubblewrap, we have to pay for it. (that kills me!). Same with time spent in the post office, and or whatever else is involved.

Yes, the boxes are free, but the time packing it isn't free, and line in the PO isn't free... etc.

I'm frustrated. I filed a Final Value Fee Credit Request a few weeks ago on items (5!) that someone won, but never paid for. Now I want to get my lister's fees back, but have misplaced the item numbers (dumb, I know!). When I try to get this information through the Ebay help pages, I ultimately get to the place where I can say my question is still not answered, but when I want to type my problem in, it won't submit because I don't have item numbers listed in my email. I've been trying to find this information for over an hour and feel like screaming!
Does anyone have a phone number for Ebay so I can deal with a real person?

Well, now I know how some of you feel. I got my very first neutral (no negs yet). The circumstances are what REALLY makes me
I printed out her label WITH postage here at home. I took the box to the PO and I OWED add'l of $1.45 so they put that postage sticker on for $1.45. (The shipping she PAID was $7.10 and actual was $8.55). So, of course, I paid the add'l and did not ask for any more shipping money. So what happens...she gets the package and sees $1.45 postage and thinks she OVER paid by paying $7.10! Her neutral said my shipping was too high! To top it off, she is in CA and I am in PA! This person is new to ebay and I understand she does not see how this works yet but couldn't she have at least emailed me before leaving that neutral. I guess I should be glad she didn't neg me. It didn't affect my 100% rating, but it still hurts to see that "1" there on my record. I emailed her and told her I pride myself on FAST and FAIR shipping, I do NOT make any money on shipping, who does?
oh well,

I don't have their phone number, but have you done a search by seller with your ID? Maybe you could find your item #'s that way.
