You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

I really need some help here . A lady bought 5 of my auctions yesterday and wants to combined shipping with all of them into one. It is Clothing and i emailed her I would have to send her invoice this am cause I don't have a box big enough to hold all those and have to pick one up this morning. Well she emailed me back that it would be cheaper to send it FED-EX or UPS but i have no clue how to do this. Could someone please tell me how you ship with either of these companies as a private citizen?

Thanks
Sharon

Hi everyone. I just completed my first week as an Ebay seller and I have to share my totals with you!! I've cleared $534.16 (after all fees) in just one week!!!! :hyper: We are taking a budget trip to WDW at the end of April and are only spending $1000 (just the 2 of us for 6 nights at POFQ). The trip is now more than 50% paid for with Ebay!!! Thanks so much to all of you for giving me such a great idea and so many fantastic tips!! And thanks to SerenaT for being my first bidder!! Your Palm is on its way!!!

1st of all I need to brag a bit! I had been very nervous about listing a large lot of my DD's clothes because I was spending the $20 to add the featured option. So after stressing about it for a month I listed it and it sold last night for $170!! I am so excited!!

Since that went so well i also listed another lot of her things (sadly my last one!) last night I already have 5 bids on it but someone just emailed me asking if I would add a BIN! I didn't think you could do that once you had bids on an item? Is that allowed or not? I don't think i would want to do it anyway since this lot is bigger and I have no idea how much it might go for!

A couple of things...

Lisaray - what kind of clothes? I'd be interested in what brands especially.

When everybody lists, do you generally do a 3, 5 or 7 day auction? What time do you end it? I've done it various ways and I do find Sunday evenings (PST) seem to do good, but I don't want all my auctions ending at the same time. I can't stand the anticipation! LOL
I'd much prefer money coming in all the time!

What do you all find works best? Thanks!

DNSDisney, if your buyer purchases thru paypal you can compare the cost of USPS and UPS. When I've checked thru the calculated shipping at ebay, UPS is always more. I don't know about FedEx but you can find drop off locations on their websites, ups.com and fedex.com. I have sent everything USPS as I find it the easiest way. We ordered something and the company messed up and sent a duplicate, so UPS came back to pick it up and they brought the return label. If UPS offers pickup delivery, it might be worth the convenience of not going to the PO but that might be a service for large companies. I'd check their websites for details.

Good luck.

Another question....

I've seen a few references about using a priority mail flat rate envelope. I went to the USPS web site and couldn't find anything about it. There was various prices mentioned depending on the rate. Could somebody please explain this to me. Thanks!

You can get the envelope from the PO - it's the 8x10ish Priority Mail envelope. Stuff whatever you can in it, making sure it can still be sealed with it's sticky thing, and you can mail it anywhere, regardless of the weight. Oh, for $3.85, plus whatever Delivery Confirmation, etc, you want on it.

Is this the cardboard one or the tyvek ones?

phorsenuf...... they were my 13 year old DD's outgrown clothes from last spring/summer. They were jean shorts, khaki shorts, capris, and I put "matching" tops with them. So I made sets or outfits out of all of them. Had about 30 pieces total I think.

the brands were Gap, LEI, MUDD, Old Navy, Levi's a few sonoma things. I know from research that some others that sell well are Abercrombie and Aeropostale but since we just got those stores in our area she didn't have anything from there that she has outgrown. She did get some of those brands for xmas so in the fall if they don't fit I will have some to put up then.
I must also add that my DD has a huge wardrobe! but that is because only about half of it comes new from the stores! The other half comes from some very nice garage sales! I live in a small town and everyone knows everyone. So when certain people are having a garage sale we know it will be really nice stuff and we get there bright and early. So that is why she has so many outgrown items from just last summer!

You can go to completed auctions and do a search for girls clothes, sizes 7& up ( or whatever size you have) and then try clicking on the highest priced ones to see some HUGE prices of what some of those clothes lots go for! Same thing for boys but my 4 year old boy plays a little too hard in his clothes for me to ebay them. They just go in the garage sale! Hope this helped! Didn't mean to be so long winded!

phorsenuf...... forgot to say that I listed for 7 days. ending sunday evening.

Okay, I have a couple things on eBay right now. One of them is a collection of trading cards. It's a 5 day auction that I started last night about 9:30. I checked my e-mail and someone offered me $15 for them shipped. What do you think I should do? I'm thinking about just letting it go because if he really wants them then he'd be willing to bid quite a bit, right? Any advice? Thank you!

Also, do any of you ever include a thank you note or anything with your packages? I was thinking about doing that but I'm not sure.

I always send an invoice, and hand-sign the invoice with a "thanks!"

Has anyone ever been told a bidder had a problem bidding on an item? I don't know if the problem was in my auction or her... No one else bid on it (listed twice) but it had a lot of views...but I figured more people would have emailed me if they weren't able to bid?

Oh, and I went from a week where nothing sold to a week where everything sold. :) (So long as the lady who emailed me actually buys the duvet cover.) And I get to go outlet shopping for more stuff with my Mommy on Friday!! :teeth:

How are your sales for March?

I must say that I've had a successful run this month. Between January & February I listed 32 items and only sold 9. I tried selling ID bracelets four times - unsuccessfully - I only sold two, so I gave up listing them. It cost too much for such an inexpensive item. Plus, the beads I started making the bracelets with, suddenly were not available in the craft stores I bought them at previously.

For March I started clearing out DD's outgrown spring/summer clothes. I listed 14 items (4 of which were relistings) and sold 8. Two of the eight were big-ticket, a laptop and a vintage Rolex watch. The Rolex auction ended last night and boy were we surprised by the final bid! The winning bidder paid instantly with PayPal and has 100% positive FB - talk about doing a happy dance :teeth: The fees on the otherhand  took a big bite out of the profit.

Were it not that we are still a month behind on paying some miscellaneous bills (charge cards) due to DH's lack of employment in February, I'd have a nice amount in reserve for summer vacation (or towards a trip to WDW).

Well, thanks to someone on this board, who gave me a break with some flying credit, we are off again to Disney in May (and once I saw the big bargain SW was having on costs from NY to FL..in June too!).

My AP has run out, and I'm not sure if I'm getting a new one or the 10 day fun in the Sun, or something like that, from Ireland.

Is there now only one price on AP's? I know no DC card..but does the visa or advanced sale bring the price down at all? Anyone know what today's price is on the regular AP? We would save $195 on our room over the other codes, etc.

Oh..what to do what to do LOL

What do I have to do to get my VHS tapes and books noticed on amazon.com? They've only be listed since 3/10, but it seems like forever since I've posted them. I went back after the first week to reduce the price because I was at about 50% off the new price from amazon. I'd hate to take them any lower than my lowest of $2.50 for the tapes and some of the books (highest is $4.50).

Maybe when the half.com conversion is finished I'll try putting them up on ebay. I tried the videos on ebay before but without success. The books I listed on half.com for a week or two, sold one in a day or two after posting, then nothing until I discovered how easy it is to list on amazon with a UPC or ISBN. Books and videos aren't my "thing" I suppose.

thats funny Kris, because I've had great luck on half.com lately.

My last semester textbook, sold within two days.
Some old miscellanous books (mostly religion based) have been going pretty steadily. (two in the past two days).

In three books, I have made $57.xx in about two weeks. Now, one was a textbook, but other than that I have done well.

Personally, as abuyer , I dont like amazons set up. It takes a while to contact a buyer, and thier system isnt very user friendly. Those private sellers also don't take Amazon gift certificates.

I'm still shocked on half as to what people will buy.

After someone wins the auction, should I send the buyer an invoice?

hmmm..I wonder how my note got on the ebay thread..it was suppose ot be a new thread on teh Budget board LOL
