I need some advice on which category to put some disney software in. Anyone have experiance on this? Does it go better under software, video games or Disneyanna? It is the animated story books.

Have you checked the "completed" sales on your item? If I'm unsure I check the sale that had the highest sale and use the categories THEY used!

I'm wondering when most people see the most bidding action? My items have been up for about 2 days so far and I only have one bid. I've sold items on ebay once before but I can't remember when the activity reallly got going.

About the last 3 minutes of the auction....for me Sunday nights.

Somewhere on here someone mentioned they did better listing it with video games I think. I'd make sure Disney was in the title though.

My post office says vintage magazines are fine for media mail since the ads are old, not current. So I think that would go for vintage comic books as well.

I send thin packages by 1st class mail frequently with no problems. By the way, it's a good idea to stiffen the envelope with a cardboard insert to prevent the envelope from being folded and stuffed into a mailbox--collectors generally do not like collectible paper goods to be folded.

Delivery confirmation for Media Mail items through SA is only 13 cents an item--a bargain! There is a cut-off point at which you cannot use Media Mail--I think it's 7 or 8 ounces--lighter than that, you have to mail 1st class (which is very cheap for very light weight items), or Priority (I rarely use Priority--too expensive for the books, magazines, and ephemera I sell).

Yes to use DC on First Class the envelope must be at least 3/4" at its thickest point. No problem, just tape together a few packing peanuts together and stick them in the envelope.

As for magazines (comic books too I guess) you can send them via bound printed matter.

Hi all, I have not been keeping track of this thread for a while. Now it is time to get rid of some of the kids' clothes. What is the best way to list them (they are from age 1 to age 5)? Do you still recommend SpareDollar to get free pictures on E-Bay?

Last December I tried to sell my kids clothes and only sold maybe less than half of what I listed and the listed fees that I paid was discouraging. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!!!

Who knows why items don't sell. I've had items with LOTS of views and not one bid, one view and sold by Buy It Now! I tend to use the guidelines on the Ebay Calendar as to when to end my auctions. I usually end on Sundays and Thursdays mostly because I've had lots of luck with those nights.

I don't see a difference in sales based on the shipping calculator vs the flat rate. If it's misused and I'm buying I skip over it. But if it's an item someone REALLY wants a couple of dollars doesn't matter. As in economics, it's supply and demand that makes the difference in what sells and for what price.

I would relist them tonight and run them for 5 days and see how you do.

This thread is getting about as hard to keep up with as the last one! LOL I know that there had been talk as to where was the best place to list kids PC software. Could you guys let me know what your thought are. Should I list it on Ebay, Amazon or Half.com? I have like 6 CD's Should I list them individually or as a lot? Here's a question: (sort of long.. sorry!)


DH & I have been selling PC's and laptops for about two months now. The PC/laptops had an operating system included (we asked Ebay/Gateway for licensing issues, and they said it did not conflict)

Just last week we sold a desktop. The buyer recieved it and said it didn't work. My DH is a computer tech support for 20 years, and he tests the machines at least three times before shipping. We look at the buyers' previous auctions and see that he purchased an illegal copy of software that was received before he got our PC.

Due to the errors he emailed us with (on Saturday/Sunday), they were not specific to help him. He just said the machine had an error.. which error, which number, what type of screen, those are all integral parts to determine if it is a software/hardware issue.

We then told him that it was a software issue based on the info he gave us, and that Gateway has free technical support, and that he can call them. (We have the suspicion that the illegal software he purchased corruted the machine when it collided with the correct software)

We never heard from the buyer. Then later that evening around 11 pm, he says he doesnt want it. He doesnt say that he even tried to call Gateway.

Hubby wanted to look for other causes (checking his software/GHOST copies, and his hardware), and got some advice on seller central, and was going to get back to him when he got home from work.

He gets home from work to see this guy has contacted square trade. The buyer jumped the gun and went straight to square trade! The complaint he gives to square trade is unspecific, and full of grammatical errors. The buyer says that we never contacted him and no emails from us. He contacted square trade without even waiting 24 hours to hear from us.


My husbanad then contacts him and says I dont know why you contacted square trade, I was trying to find a source to the problem and checking my inventory. He then offers if they buyer wants to ship it back at his expense, we will ship him another one at our expense (FWIW, it only cost about $8 to ship it). We also offered to send him a new CD of the software FREE and no shipping.

We now havent heard from him. If we dont hear from him from today on, we will have to have all the emails from him going to square trade.

What should we do? If you all want the auction number, I can include it.

Kate - I do calculated rates all the time and it doesn't seem to affect things. I think it's just slow right now. Spring fever maybe? People are out and about and not sitting at their computers.

First of all, I have 3 things waiting to list that I "think" might do fairly well.. (Of course I always "think" that and then it turns out to be some other obscure item I'm selling that does really well - LOL)

Anyhow - I'm wondering if I should list all 3 at once (same item, different styles) or should I stagger them over the next few days?

Also, I'm kind of reluctant to have items I think will do well end on Sundays now because for several weeks eBay has been experiencing serious glitches that cause problems for the buyers in terms of searching and bidding on Sundays.. (See the numerous Community Board posts on this topic..) Buyers seem to be having a lot of problems trying to do any last minute bidding and as you all know, that's where the price can really go up.. Think I should end them on Monday or Thursday instead?

Lastly, I posted a thread on the Transportation Board about selling my SouthWest airline credits - to ask if it really IS okay and to find out if anyone else had ever done it.. The credits expire on August 13th and I'm not sure if I should list them now - or wait until closer to the expiration date.. Any thoughts on that? Also, I notice on eBay that the other sellers specify "money order or CASH payment via Paypal - no credit cards".. Is that something I should consider too? Should I put a reserve? (The face value is $456.80) When should I list them - and for how long?

I called my bank today because the deposits (to get verified)still had not been showing up in my checking account. It turns out that my bank had treated it like a payroll direct deposit and put it into my savings account instead. I'm so happy, it's all figured out and I'm VERIFIED!

I need help once more.

I had an auction end on Sunday for baby toys. The only bidder just emailed me to ask how she should pay me. I specify several times in my auction that I only accept paypal.
I live an hour and a half from my credit union, so running in to deposit a check is not exactly an option for me.

I check the auction and see that under her user name it says "not a registered user." When she first bid, that was not there.

I went into her ID history, and it says the same thing. She registered about two weeks ago, then it says "User Suspended" and not a registered user.

What do I do now????

Email her back and say , sorry? But you are not a registered user therefore I will not sell to you?

She has 0 feedback.

Should I just relist the item or notify Ebay?

I already had to use NPB on someone I posted about a while back.

Help me please. Ebay takes three or four days to respond to questions.

If the person was NARU'd then file NPB and my understanding is your fees will be reversed immediately.

iNTeNSeBLue98- I listed books, CDs & videos on Amazon Marketplace (70 items) and 15 have sold so far. My sister also relisted her items (she has tons- 200+) with no buyers since the re-list. IMHO she listed for too much $- Amazon gives a recommendation for a price which can be way off if alot of people are selling. I figure I want my item to be within the first 10 listed. I look at what condition/price the items are there and compare mine. Unless my item is in way better condition than those described, I price mine so that it will fall within the first 10 listed. Sometimes it is only changing the price from ending in 0 to 9! And if there are a ton of .01 books I don't bother!! Also- with how Amazon charges for listing (.99 + 10%), I feel I make out if I can price things for at least $3.50 (because of the shipping reimbursement).

What determines an items goes towards the top of the list? I have about 6 or 7 items on amazon.com, all priced at least 50% below amazon's price. Of course there are quite of few of the same items listed - some for more and some for less. Since there's no charge to list, I'm not worried if they don't sell, but it would be nice.

I'm actually have a good week. I've successfully sold an item that was relisted because the original bid was not placed by the user (he was NARU'd the same day the bid was placed, a hacker got in to his account). I've had 5 auctions containing DD's outgrown clothing wnd with decent bids and I have something up now that I'm hoping will bring a sizeable final bid.
