You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

Okay, I have gathered my items to sell, researched them on ebay to see if they are selling and written my ads.

What is the best time to begin or end my auctions? Or is there any difference in the time frame?

Thanks,
Sunny:sunny:

Welcome aboard SunnyB :wave2: Have you read the ebay FAQ on page one of the DIS Budget Board?

In answer to your question about timing. I don't think there is a wrong time, only better times to post your listings. Ebay time is Pacific, three hours earlier than Eastern, so that could impact sales if you miss west coast buyers. Many here start listings on Sunday and run them for seven days to end the following Sunday. I've recently been starting auctions on Saturday and running them for five days, ending on Thursday. It's a matter of preference, knowing when your target buyer is shopping, and what is convenient for you as a seller and shipper.

Good Luck!

Hi Guys...another quick question. I am off to work and am going to do this from there. Where do I go to print out the postage with the free confirmation delivery? I am going to send priority mail. The info would be greatly appreciated...I SOLD my fir BUY IT NOW!!!!!

Yippeee!!!!

Hey Glo, you could do it a few ways. One way is download the shipping assistant (I think that is earlier in the thread). You will need Adobe to view/print the label, so make sure you have that as well. Or you do it the Paypal way, and have Paypal generate the prepaid/hidden postage view. It all depends on what you prefer.

Thanks for the fast reply, I think I will go ahead and list the ones I have ready today. Is it better to end in the evening, say at 9:00 central time. That would be 7:00 Pacific, correct?

Sunny

floridagirl2, thanks for your advice. I will do what you said.

I was just so angry last night when I got her email. Not just because I was losing out on an auction but it was more her tone in the email. Never even used the word sorry or tried to be nice. Plus I really don't get why people keep biding if they don't want the item. She was bidding that very afternoon and then just changes her mind. I could also understand if it had been a large amount and she was having buyers remorse but it was only $8.50.

Oh well, I will just move on and forget about her.
Thanks again for your help.

Can someone give me a link to where online you can have Priority mail shipping boxes sent to you? I have been all over the USPS site and all I see is express mail boxes.
Thanks
Sharon

No - Shipping Assistant is free.

Thanks C.Ann that is just what I needed!!

Also I found something I thought I would pass on...
Seems like PC software games go better under Video game-game
than they do in software . Also if any of you have a pc game called FREESPACE 2 that you have stored somewhere, that game goes very well. Seems like it is a retired game that sells from anywhere from 20-58 (new sealed for 58).
Happy selling:wave2:

Ok, please do not laugh at me. I printed out the address lable for my priority mail, plus the delivery confirmation thing. Now I need to get the box...Do I just tape it in the middle, or do they do it at the PO? Do I tape pver the entire thing? Or just around the edges, I have a laser printer.

First, cut off the Delivery Confirmation part to keep for your records.

Then trim the Priority Label all around the outside bold black edges. Use a couple of small pieces of tape to initial tape it on the package (in the center of the box or whatever) to hold it straight. I then tape over the ENTIRE label with very wide, clear tape so if it gets wet the ink won't run. Just be careful NOT to wrinkle the tape over the bar code area or they won't be able to scan it..

Oh - and we're not laughing at you.. We're here to help!!;)

Has anyone been to eBay University? They are coming to Milwaukee (not too far from me) and its bring a friend for free.

I was wondering how useful this was??

Does anyone have tips to sell on amazon.com? I listed some books and videos about two weeks ago and don't seem to be getting any "bites". I'm listing in the Marketplace as opposed to the auctions.

O.K, You guys inspired me and I spent a good part of my Spring Break cleaning out closets and listing auctions. They seem to be going pretty well, but I have gotten a couple of e-mails asking me to combine shipping and to ship parcel post rather than Priority Mail. I will, of course, be glad to combine shipping. I know that is commonly done, but I'm not sure about the shipping question. My instinct is to stick to Priority Mail since it is easier, but I would love to know how you guys usually handle it. One bidder said that she was interested in 13 auctions- should I consider a different shipping method if someone wins that many or just combine and still ship Priority? Thanks!!

JGates, I know I've already told you that I crack up at your signature but is that yours or is it from a movie or what?

This: "Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like, "You know, sometimes I just forget to eat." Now I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name, and my keys. But I've never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat." I wish it were a bit shorter and I'd have a t-shirt printed with it, lol.

Actually I am pretty sure I got in one of those 'stupid-joke' emails!!! I am not sure of the original source of it.

I have combined and shipped parcel. If you use the weight charts on the USPS website you will not have any trouble knowing the cost. The disadvantage is that you will have to provide your own box and get it from somewhere.Rate Chart

Shipping Assistant is FREE!!! I don't think you can pay thru there though, so I always do my PM labels right at the USPS website.

OK, I made my first Ebay blunder :( I have 5 auctions closing in 13 hours. That is about 9am EST...I should have thought it out better. Oh well...live and learn.

My own advice when it comes to fixed-price shipping, and I don't necessarily enforce my own rule, is to ship by whichever method will be cheapest for the buyer. If you use the shipping calculator link when creating your listing it will give you the comparision of USPS vs. UPS and their options based on the weight and type of package. I'll usually pick three cities (one eastern, one midwest and one west coast) and calculate the average price from my zip. So far it's worked out pretty well for me. The only other option is to use the calculated shipping method (know weight of your shipment) for your listings, and your buying will plug in his/her zip to get the shipping amount.

You never know.......

I've experimented a little in recent weeks with starting listings early on a Saturday and running them for 5 days. So far so good.

If your item ends without a buyer, relist later in the day.

I still get aggravated on the (infrequent) occasions I have non-paying bidders! I tend to be suspicious that zero-feedback bidders are people with negs on their primary account who have opened a 2nd (or 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc.) account because they've messed up their other accounts with negs! (Ebay lets you open as many accounts as you want as long as you have a separate email address and charge card for each one.)

Remember, you can also offer the item to the 2nd-highest bidder for their high bid--might save you from relisting.
