You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

As I explained earlier in this thread, one of my auctions that ended Sunday has resulted in NO contact whatsoever with the buyer even though I sent the invoice twice. So today is the 3 day reminder and the link is now active but I get this:

No buyer(s) to eMail on this item
Sorry, the item .........2173 does not have any winning buyer(s) left to notify.

What the heck does that mean? There hasn't been any payments, no contact from her at all. What now?

Is it possible that your buyer has been NARU'd? Click on the actual auction link & see if their is a feedback number next to the buyers name or if it says Not A Registered User. If they have been suspended, you can immediately file for your FVF back & relist. HTH Sandy

Ok, I have been reading this thread and every other religiously, and am unlurking. I have listed a ton of stuff on Ebay, and have been sitiing here watching them. I did the 7 day auctions and I have over 87 items up. I am nervous though...some only have 2.5 days lift, and I have only 14 items have bids on them :( Should I be worried? I do not want this to flop...DH thought I was crazy to do this.

There are tons of snipers. Somethings that have NO BIDS until the last 3 minutes of the auction, usually get bids.

Personally, I would just wait it out. 87 items is a lot! Remember you can always relist

Some of you might have remembered me from a few days ago. The person who bought something at a yard sale for $2.00, listed it on ebay, then had someone actually email me wanting to buy for $275 privately. Anyway, I decided to let the auction finish, mostly because I felt it would dishonest to end my auction and make a private deal. So, it ended to day, for $305.06!

I just can't believe my good fortune. And the increase in my Disney savings.

The item was an old kreel (fishing basket), handmade by the woman's Uncle about 40 or so years ago, in really good shape. I know we can't post links here, but maybe I can post the item #, which you can enter into the ebay search line, and it will take you to it. It's: 3709537285

 Hi glo! Nice to see you here..

You have 14 items with bids out of 87 and there are still days left? I'd say that's pretty darn good - considering most bids come on the final day or in the final hours..

You may find yourself VERY pleasantly surprised!!;)

Keep us posted!

mbelec,
thanks for posting that item! It is really IS unique and one of a kind. I'm happy you were able to get a nice amount of money for it. I need a "find" like that, lol.

 Hi Guys...I am just nervous...if my DH tells me one more time not to get my hopes up. I just got a big bite with a Cassio pocket PC..and even then he keeps pointing out that it was luck. I am saving for our 10th Anniversary...I want to take everyone on a cruise, and that is 17 months away. It is about $4,500 for all of us, so any help will be good. I am glad to see some familiar faces. So, what kind of things should I look for at yard sales and flee markets?

Congrats mbelec! Wonderful profit! I sure wish I could find a deal like that too!
glo - just wait - hopefully you'll get bids. everyone's right - lots of bids come at the last minute. Ebay is quite fun, IMHO. and worth the work, when I have time. lol:rolleyes:

Glad to see you as well. As for what to look for, I have just taken a search fro completed items.

I usually look for all kinds of things., it really all depends on what catches my fancy. I also take account to what is in season, or the season that will be next. I also look for fun things, or other things as well.

Its basically a trial and error.

I feel sort of like i am in a trial by fire experiance with ebay even reading tons here and other places doesn't totally prepare you for what it is like. Like last week i did a search for a PC game i wanted to list and there were none so i assumed it was not a popular game. LOL... boy was i wrong, did a search today cause i started to get curious after someone emailed me asking me to cancel the auction and sell it to them. Told them i couldn't , against ebay rules(already had one bidder). then found out there are several listed now and the last one that ended went for $58.00!!! Read some up on the game and it seems that this is one of the most valuble older games around and they stopped making it. Don't think mine will go up that high cause i started with 1.00 (as opposed to their 9.99) but hopefully it will do well. And to think i thought i would be lucky to get 3. for it LOL ... Live and learn

#1 lesson of ebaying... NEVER under estimate your junk!::yes::

That's what I'm starting to do - look at what's selling, see what it's going for. This kreel was the first item I've listed that wasn't outgrown kid's clothing (summer stuff seems to sell well right now). Not that I'm making tons of $ on it, but I've made about $250 on kid's clothing since the end of Feb., and I have 20 or so auctions that still haven't ended. My original goal was to make enough for something extra at Disney (like Cirque, which we wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise, since there are 5 of us).

I've found that when selling these items, unless it's popular for some unknown, bizarre reason (like a cotton summer outfit my daughter outgrew that has 10 bids on it and 2 days left!), it usually goes for my original asking price at the last minute. Which is fine by me, because I could never make that much $ on it in a yard sale. I try to price reasonably, but at a good enough price so I make some $ (my original way of pricing was approx. ebay fees including est. listing and closing fees - maybe $2.00, + $1 for each item in the bunch being sold, so it started anywhere from $2.50 - $6.00 to start).

I have a friend at work with "every outfit my daughter ever wore, she's 11 years old, the only grandchild; some still have tags on them, Osh Kosh, etc." She told me she was pricing them for yard sales this summer, I encouraged her to ebay them, she said it was "too much work." I told her to put a fair price on them, and I'd buy them from her and sell them myself! It's like a gold mine, in my opinion. She's told me she is going to do this!!

Boy, am I addicted, but it's much better to sell than buy if I am!

Question for you all. I know this has come up before but I can't remember what the verdict was.

On Tuesday I put up several Gymboree/Disney Store dresses. Yesterday there were bids on 4 of them by the same person (1 was a disney leotard) plus I received an email from the bidder asking if I would end the auctions for an extremely nice Buy it Now price. Obviously I can't change the auctions to buy it now since there is already a bid. As of this morning, the items have a few more bids, but nothing close to what she was offering as a but it now for all 4 of those items. I researched what the dresses had been selling for and what she offerred is way above.

Can I end the auctions and sell to her even though there are other bids on the items now? And, if I do this, the transaction would be outside ebay, correct?

I know the general consensus here is that if someone requests a buy it now, the items are probably going to go for more than their price. However, I just don't see that happening here for little girl's used clothing. But, I don't want to irritate anyone who has placed bids and then finds that I pulled the items.

See, I don't do much clothes. My kids usually wear hand me downs from my neices and nephews. My son usually wears out the clothes so they aren't Ebayable!

We usually sell electronics, old magazines, and books. (some textbooks). My DH gets all the old PC's from his work that they don't use or inventory anymore. He got permission to take them away. We have sold Laptops, desktops and accessories.

We also sell toys that the kids don't play with. I usually don't do clothes that much. Although my son had a suit he outgrew (he only wore it once) and that did well. (I actually bought the suit at the Goodwill store!)

Hi, glo! Glad to see you jumped in! Like C.Ann said and I told you last night, you're doing GREAT!!

I get most of my stuff from thrift stores and yard sales. I do my research first. Find out the things that really SELL, such as certain collectibles and hard to find items. Estate sales are notorious for selling great collectibles for next to nothing.

Also, make sure that you can get a reasonable profit from what you do buy. Otherwise you'll be stuck with enough stuff to have your own yard sale!

For instance: I did a bit of lurking in the Collectibles board on the Community message boards on eBay last year. Found a lot of people collect cat figurines and salt and pepper shakers. Well, my home was FULL of cat stuff because of co-workers who knew I loved cats. I sold them ALL! Then I went to yard sales looking for cat stuff. I also knew if they didn't sell at least I had a new collection of my own!

Look for things that are NIB or new in box. I sometimes find yard sales with people selling wedding gifts they never used. These are great to list and buyers like the fact that you have a new item.

Research the OOP and HTF Disney tapes. Out of Print and Hard to Find videos sell for the most. Sell them alone and sell the others in lots.

Look for name brand clothing in good shape. I sell alot of FUBU and Tommy Hilfiger.. they sell like mad. I find well made shirts at a thrift store in my neighborhood that has a half price sale every Monday. I get them for about $2 apiece and sell every one.

Like I always say, I USED to shop for myself, now I shop for what OTHERS want! My sister looks at the stuff I buy and she's amazed that I even looked at it. What she doesn't realize is I just saw what that item sold for on eBay! :teeth:

I'm sorry I don't have any official answers Mommy Poppins, but I don't think I'd do it. If you plan to continue selling the same kind of items, your bidders may remember you. Just my opinion though.

I just want to give a warning in case this happens to anyone else. Remember I posted about my auction that ended Sunday and after 3 attempts to reach my buyer without any reply I was getting frustrated? I sent her an email directly yesterday rather than thru ebay (I should've thought of that earlier, duh) and she said she hadn't gotten any previous correspondence from me. She apologized and said she knew the auction had ended but was awaiting a final invoice from me. Of course, I had sent it twice but only thru the ebay emailing system. I would suggest directly emailing if you don't get a reply within 48 hrs of your auctions closing.

As for what is selling, I've had great response from craft supplies. I have 10 auctions going right now for some Stampin' Up stamps and they are doing very well with 3 days still remaining. I also sold some Creative Memories albums and stickers and they had many bids as well. Many of my non-craft items have not had bids til the final hours of the auction. My books have done better on Amazon than thru ebay. If you're lucky enough to have any Disney in-the-vault movies you could do well selling them. One of my daycare moms wants Toy Story 1 and 2 on DVD and has been pricing them on ebay. They are running upwards of $75 for the set or $40+ individually. Yikes! One other thing is if you have stores that accept donations and then resell them. Our local Catholic Charities runs one of these and they have a yard sale once a month. They often have junk but some real gems if you sort thru it. It takes a while but can be very worthwhile.

Is there a cheat sheet on ebay for abbreviations? I figured out NIB and NWT but it took my reading thru many auctions before I figured it out. How do you see closed auctions? Can I search "closed auctions"?

Hi guys,
I just put up some barbies my daughter had in her toy box and listed them last nite and they have a bid already this morning!
I have noticed that girls clothing right now is selling really well.I am off to my local mall today because they are having a 80% off sale and i am going to girls clothing and boys.I find that kids clothes sell bettter and for much more money than adult clothes do!Good luck to you all.

I just took a look at that kreel Mbelec sold--wicked awesome piece!!! Way to go!!!!!

You guys are so awesome....I bow down before the Ebay goddesses. I am up over $165 right now...though some auctions are closing in two days. I am thrilled so far, and hope for more stuff selling as the auctions come to a close. :)
