Glo,
I am glad you are doing so well. My DH was a doubter too. That was until I paid for our whole 5 day trip last November with eBay money (we had APs though). We even did Hoop Dee Doo for 4 people!

Good luck. I have $600 so far put down on our next trip with money from eBay.

You can not end an auction with bid early to sell to a buyer outside of ebay. That is a big no no. Just let the auction ride. If the buyer is interested in doing a buy it now and a very good price then have her bid that price and hope for the best. If no one is willing to pay that much then she will get the items. If they are then you just made a killing. Good Luck.

Question?

How do you get the money from Paypal to my bank account? Are the mutual funds accounts they offer any good? Has anyone used this, and how safe is it?

Sorry if it has been answered before.

Glo, you have several options. When you sign in at paypal, go to withdraw funds and then you can transfer to your bank acct. or get a check mailed to you, you can withdraw from an ATM with a fee, or use the balance to pay other bills. I let my balance get close to $100 then transfer to my checking acct. They say give it 5 days but if I make the request Mondays by 5pm it is in my acct Wed at midnight. It is very easy. I had to upgrade my paypal to accept cc though and maybe that makes a difference in the speed. Did you upgrade to accept cc or did you state no cc in your auctions? That one I wasn't prepared for and thus two winners paid by cc so I felt like I had to upgrade. I don't find the fees unreasonable though.

I opened a checking account just for customers to use PayPal. I was hesitant at first about doing any banking online, but I'm glad I decided to offer PayPal . every week I withdraw $$$ leaving only $25 in this account. This way if anyone hacks into the account, they won't find much!!

Thanks airhead - I knew it was special when I saw it, but never knew it was that special. I had it packed away for the past 2 years.

It does show a little wear on the top and bottom, but had lots of dust inside, so it had been quite some time since. My husband wanted to use it fishing - glad I stopped him!

You GO GLO!!
:bounce:  :bounce:

Robin...maybe I missed it. Did we get a decision from you as to whether or not we could put a link in to our ebay auctions in our signature- you know -where it takes you to the page with all 15 or so items you have listed and they can click on one if they want?

Oops!! Never mind - I see it in the separate post.

So we should just list our user name in our signature instead?

Ok, guys I am totally confused about paypal when you are selling. First of all, I just sold my first BIN...the person paid with PAYPAL. With shipping the item went for $17.95 and PAYPAL took .82 is that right? Did I accept a CC by mistake?

What type of paypal account did you set up? You may have set up a "fee one".

We went ahead and took the premier one. We price the item higher to make up for the Paypal cut.

If you have a personal account to begin with you could refuse this payment and ask them to pay with available funds. If you have already signed up for a premier account, you are probably too late. I believe the fees (for ANY transaction) on a premier account are about .30 or .35 plus about 3% of the transaction. The unfortunate part of this is that it is regardless of the type of payment method they use. In the real world, a merchant only pays those fees on the CC transactions he processes. In the paypal world, once you accept CC's, you are charged those fees on EVERY transaction. Part of how PP makes $$$. I just have all of that calculated in my handling fee, although on a bigger item like that I am normally still losing $$. I add between .75 and $1.50 for handling fee on my auctions to cover time (and shhh don't tell!!! - ebay and paypal fees).

You can however have 2 paypal accts as long as you have 2 checking accounts behind them. We have a free checking at our bank so it is not a big deal for me. (I work there so if it was fee based, I would still be ok!!). I use the one for coupon swapping, etc with no fees. I put the other one w/cc's in my ebay stuff. If I can get the invoice out before they pay me first I always include - 'if paying via available funds, use @@@@, if paying via credit card, use @@@@". Normally they still use the CC one but I had a $100 transaction that made sure he sent it to the personal one - saved me several dollars!!! (sorry - think I have told this all before but it's somewhat relevant).

YES, Another question from me!
We have only been doing this for a few months and have not had any real problems with buyers. However, someone won an auction on sunday evening and as of Thurs. morning i hadn't heard from them. But on Thursday afternoon i recieved an email from them with no subject at all that says and I will quote: " We have decieded that we don't want to purchase the object anymore. Please send us back an email stating that you have recieved this email." Soooooooooo can you believe that! they have a zero feedback but i was giving them the benifit of the doubt. The item was only $8.50 and someone else had bid $8.00.
Any idea what I should do about this? Thanks for any help.

I've had this happen a few times in the 5 years I've been selling on Ebay. I would simply neg them ("refused to pay" or "Did not pay") then file your NPB and FVC as soon as Ebay will allow you to. I would not respond to their email.

Be aware that, since they have zero feedback and no reputation to lose, they may give you a retaliatory negative. If you are concerned about this, you can choose to not give them feedback at all, but still file the NPB and FVC. I've given about 10 negative feedbacks so far, and have not yet received a retaliatory negative (but I know it will happen someday!). I have enough positive feedback now that a retaliatory neg would not hurt me--plus you can always respond to them.

JGates, I know I've already told you that I crack up at your signature but is that yours or is it from a movie or what?

This: "Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like, "You know, sometimes I just forget to eat." Now I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name, and my keys. But I've never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat."

I wish it were a bit shorter and I'd have a t-shirt printed with it, lol.

Anyone else not seeing their Auctions on your My Ebay Page? Everything is gone. Kinda freaks me out.

I checked the announcements page and it seems like they had this problem before. It scared me, too!

jgates: Sharing your username is allowed on this thread, I'll check about the sig. I added the line about not linking to your auctions on the ebay username post though I assurmed that was a given. Linking to your auctions is an advertisement, and the WMs won't allow it.
Sorry.

Webmaster Pete has decided that sharing your eBay usernames on these boards is okay as long as they're done in good spirit and not for spamming.

The above messages are just a bit different. Robinrs says
THREAD. The bottom one says BOARDS. If it was boards then our user name could show up on ALL the boards.

I'd really like to add my user ID as part of my sig but not if it's only suppose to appear on this thread only.

Please clarify!

Thanks,
Roberta
