"You Guys Are Cast Members... Right?" - A December 2011 TR

Disney in December is my favorite!

And no worries, I tend to shed a few tears behind my sunglasses at Disney World, too.... heck, even without the sunglasses! LOL.

Loving the trip report so far! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I hope you enjoy! Hahahha I'm glad I'm not the only one. I know, everything Disney makes me sentimental and emotional haha. I'm going to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D today and I just KNOW I'm gonna cry haha.

Also, I couldn't help but notice that we are the same age and we live in the same state... hmm... I might have to PM you later!

Hahaha PM away! (: And I'm jealous- I'm dying to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D! Even my parents have already seen it, hahaha!!

Disney in December really is the best, isn't it? :lovestruc

Hahah oh good! I knew there would be some Disers out there who understood. :thumbsup2

I'm glad you're enjoying! Thank you so much for joining in, I really appreciate it!

Hahaha PM away! (: And I'm jealous- I'm dying to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D! Even my parents have already seen it, hahaha!!

Aw! I hope you get a chance to see it soon, it was really great! I've actually seen it twice already... hahah oh goodness. I don't know what I'm gonna do when Little Mermaid comes out. Go broke, probably. :rotfl:

Thanks! (: As soon as DF gets over his cough (poor guy got my cold) we are going! Secretly I think he is excited for the new Tangled short! He loved that movie and bought the stuffed Pascal when we were down there in October!

Hahaha, I hear ya! Maybe Disney could pay us to see movies  . We'd pay them back in word-of-mouth advertising!

The girls want to ride the tram one of these days. We have only done Disney buses and boats. I guess we'll just have to ask the driver if we can let them have one turn around the parking lot.

The decorations on WDW Christmas trees are huge! Makes me want to go home and have a monstrous tree.

Yay! Hahah oh my goodness, Tangled Ever After is great! I loved it. That is so awesome that he bought a Pascal! :rotfl:

For real! Let's write them a letter suggesting this. Hehehe. Oh and by the way, I tried earlier in the week to send you a PM but I don't think it worked, I'm sorry!

Aww, that's so cute. :cutie: The tram ride was actually right much fun! I bet the driver would have a hard time saying no to them!

They really are gigantic! I know what you mean! When I got home our tree just looked tiny compared to all the Disney trees! :rotfl:

Great TR! Can't wait to read more.

Aww, thank you! I'm glad you're here! Thank you for commenting, I hope you continue to enjoy!

The One With Fantasy Galore, and Also A Few Ghosts

December 14, 2011

As the parade started to head toward Frontierland, we hung a right and went straight to…

SDC10801.jpg

The Haunted Mansion! Dun dun dun.

(Sidenote: since the parade was going on, it was obviously after 3:00. There was a Christmas party that night at Magic Kingdom, which started at 7:00. We weren’t going to it. So basically we had less than four hours to try to do as much as possible before we were forcibly removed… um, I mean, before we left in a calm and normal manner.)

This was the first time we were all seeing the new interactive queue for the first time! Well, except for Jenelle, because obviously she can go look at the new interactive queue pretty much any time she wants. Lucky duckling. Before I go any further in talking about the new interactive queue, I first have to address something that causes me much confusion and frequent mispronunciation…

The word ‘queue.’

QUEUE.

I mean, I know it’s basically a fancy way to say line.

Disney is obviously too fancy to have interactive LINES.

I just don’t really GET it. I’m sure the spelling makes sense, but when I see all those letters, I try to say all kinds of crazy things, like QUAY-WAY, or, CUE-EEE-OOO-EEE.

I mean, why not just simplify it and spell it, CUE? You could just change the meaning to be waiting for your CUE to move up or into the building. EHH? And while we’re simplifying things, why not simply just use the letter Q?

It all comes down to fanciness, I suppose.

…TANGENT OVER. END SCENE.

Alright. So we finally were able to see the new interactive QUEUE for Haunted Mansion!

We were moving pretty quickly, so by the time I was done taking pictures, everyone was already moving on. Hahah oh well.
Next time I’ll take the time to play with it all because it was awesome! (By the way, I just wanted to add that some of these pictures were taken out of a video, so they're not all that great. Same goes for many pictures that you will see throughout this TR!)

SDC12381.jpg

Next thing we knew, we were in the stretching room!

Something you should know is that Haunted Mansion is Amanda’s absolute favorite. She’s obsessed with it. So, since it’s her favorite, and I’m, well, me, we were quoting the Ghost Host word for word. I know, SO OBNOXIOUS! Hahahaha.

SDC12383.jpg

“CONSIDER THIS DISMAYING OBSERVATION: This chamber has NO WINDOWS, and NO DOORS. Which offers you this chilling challenge: TO FIND, A WAY OUT!”

Right.

Amanda and I rode together. I don’t even attempt to take pictures on that ride because they do NOT come out at all. For some reason, we both felt like we were much closer to the action this time. It felt like everything was just RIGHT THERE at the doombuggy. I have no idea why! At the end of the ride, we got our heads switched by the hitch-hiking ghosts! Those effects are just amazing!

After we made it out of the Haunted Mansion alive, (THANK GOODNESS, WHAT A CLOSE CALL) we pondered on what to do next. I suggested it’s a small world! Why, you ask? I will tell you.

I recently found out that the ride buildings for Haunted Mansion and it’s a small world are RIGHT next to each other. I was reading up on facts about the Haunted Mansion one day on some random website and I found that out! Isn’t that SO COOL? When you’re immersed in the ride itself, you don’t think about the fact that behind a couple walls is a completely different ride. I even saw a picture of the aerial view and it’s totally true. I found that to be so awesome! So, since I knew this, I thought it would make sense to head in that direction! I also figured that maybe Frontierland would be more crowded after the parade. So, off to the small world we went!

I always really enjoy that ride. I know that a lot of people find the dolls creepy, or think the song is obnoxious, but I love it!
It’s a Disney classic. A Magic Kingdom STAPLE! How can you not like that? Also, Mary Blair (the woman who designed the ride) and I have the same birthday! Awesome.

SDC11216.jpg

Luckily, there was literally no wait! On our way into the line, Amanda and I realized we had gone in the wrong side of the line (you know how there are two lines separated by a little chain?) so we went under the chain rope and… I fell. HAHAHAH! I can be so dumb, I tell ya. I was just too excited. Luckily, she didn’t judge me too much (out loud) and nobody else was around to see it!

The ride was great as usual. It’s just so colorful and bright and happy.

SDC12385.jpg

SDC10696.jpg

SDC10697.jpg

SDC10698.jpg

After that, we decided to stay in Fantasyland for a while!

The carousel was covered with this very odd looking tent-like thing. There was a little opening, and the ride was still in operation, but I think we all decided that it wouldn’t be as fun that way. I love the carousel! It’s a lot of fun, but it’s also fun to see Fantasyland when you ride. In this case, we wouldn’t have. I think that’s the only reason we didn’t ride because the line wasn’t long at all!

WE ALSO GOT TO SEE SOME OF THE FANTASYLAND EXPANSION!!! It was awesome to see Beast’s castle, and a lot of the Fantasyland expansion is really starting to take shape! I cannot WAIT to start seeing the details of Eric's castle. GOOD LORD.

I was planning to take some pictures of the progress, but I wanted to wait until whenever we rode Dumbo! However, we weren’t doing Dumbo just yet!

Jenelle went into a bathroom to change into jeans because she was going out with her boyfriend a little bit later and didn't want to wear shorts. While we were waiting for her, we saw that Snow White’s Scary Adventures was listed as a zero minute wait, so we thought we’d try to get on! Turns out, it was only zero minutes because the ride was down temporarily. Oh well!

Instead, we headed to something that I, SHOCKINGLY, had NEVER done before!

Winnie the Pooh!

Honestly, I don’t know how I went through two trips without riding this. The Pooh stories and characters have been some of my top favorites my entire life. I just love them so incredibly much. With that said, somehow I hadn’t ridden it before, so it was a MUST! We got in the line, which was about 30 minutes long. I didn’t even care how long it was, I just wanted to ride!

I love Pooh’s interactive QUEUE. Every time a gopher came up I had the urge to whack it, though, like in whack-a-mole. Those gophers taunt you! Really.

I loved that the queue area was designed like a story book. So creative and cute! Disney is really just top notch.

SDC12387.jpg

Then we came upon the honey walls. Oh man. Those things are TOO much fun.

SDC12588.jpg

SDC12587.jpg

We were playing with the honey and writing words into it, and then we realized that…

THERE’S A CHARACTER BACK THERE! Get it out of the honey! Get it out of the honey!

396543_10151077676845177_820575176_22144552_953847833_n.jpg

WE SAVED TIGGER! Oh thank goodness.

After we were out of the range of the honey walls, I suddenly took notice of this beautiful, adorable baby that had apparently been in front of us in line the entire time. This was seriously the cutest baby I’d ever seen. He had these BIG blue eyes and he was staring at me. I kept making funny faces at him and he would smile SO big, look away for a second, then look back at me like he was expecting my facial expression to go normal, or something. It was the cutest thing! I was like, can I just have this baby? I mean he likes me, so, no problem there… I was having a very good time entertaining this adorable baby.

When we got to the front of the line, we split up into one group of two and one group of four, so Jenelle and I actually ended up in a Hunny Pot WITH the adorable baby! YAY!

Oh, and the ride? Oh my gosh, I LOVED it. It was just so adorable. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh brings back so many memories for me, so seeing all of it right in front of me was really special. I just adored it.

After our lovely bounce through the Hundred Acre Woods, Jenelle had an idea. She told us to follow her into Castle Couture so we could get PIXIE DUSTED!

397999_10151077677010177_820575176_22144554_1201262602_n.jpg

Sally felt like royalty.

Don’t worry. Ryan did NOT get pixie dust in his hair. :rotfl:

The 'pixie-dusting process' was so cute. The Cast Member had a little wand filled up with pixie dust and she told us to close our eyes and make a wish while she sprinkled it on our heads. BY THE WAY, I STILL find random pieces of glitter on my forehead from time to time. Apparently it’s a permanent fixture on my head. It’s okay with me though, because whenever I see it, I can’t help but think of Disney. :cloud9:

On our way out of Castle Couture, we saw the Cinderella rags to riches fountain. Ahhh, it’s so beautiful.

SDC12388.jpg

I'm sure you all know this, but if you line the picture up just right, (which I did NOT do) it looks like the crown is on her head.
Disney magic at its finest!

After we admired the fountain for a little while, we were ready for some more Magic Kingdom fun!

Continued in Next Update

Yay Haunted Mansion!! :goodvibes I am DYING to see the new queue (pun intended heehee ;)) I love your tangent!! That made me laugh so much! I also love Small World! It's one of those rides that is just timeless, and I definitely do not get sick of it! It really makes you feel like you're in Disney. OMG I love Winnie the Pooh ride too!! It's precious, but I still have yet to see that new interactive queue too! Oh, and the last time I went on it, I also had the pleasure of flirting with the CUTEST baby EVER in line!!!! It's a baby magnet! :lmao:

Loved your update. And we saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D and loved it. And we also loved the Tangled short as well. Very enjoyable. Looking forward to reading more about your trip !!

I <3 The Haunted Mansion! That ride is just awesome and for real, when you're in the graveyard, you feel a lot closer to the tombstones than how it was before the refurb. and oh yeah! you DID fall in the Small World line, hahaha!!!! I had forgotten about it until now. You know, that was my first time being pixie dusted. (Insert my own tangent here) Remember when it was a Tinkerbell themed gift shop? Or am I just making that up? I remember there being a spot where Tinkerbell was in a tree or something...or maybe it was the lantern. I remember going in there when I was little because our family was taking a break from the heat. It was the 25th anniversary and the castle was all done up like a pink birthday cake! That was Shannon's first trip and also the day that we watched the Remember the Magic Parade and I caught my first glimpse of Peter Pan in the flesh! As if I wasn't already in love with him, that confirmed it for me. Ah, young love, haha. The only downside that literally crushed/confused the heck out of my 8 year old little heart was the fact that that day, Peter Pan was 'best friends' with a GIRL! WHAT?! Thank God that's the only time I've seen that happen. It stunk too cuz I had the opportunity to go and meet 'him' if I wanted to but it was just too much for me. Oh well, ah Disney memories... :)

It has been sooo long since I've gone on Haunted Mansion. I'm starting to pump up my son about riding it in December. I will ride it this year!

And I love It's a Small World. It's definitely a sentimental favorite for me. My dad & I rode it numerous times during my 1st trip in the summer of '87. And he used 13 rolls of film on just that one ride!

I love the honey walls at Winnie the Pooh! They are so much fun to play in.

That's cool that y'all got pixie dusted! I didn't know about that.

I'm joining. Your queue rant had me cracking up. All theme park / amusement parks actually refer to them as queue's. I worked for Six Flags for 6 years and I used to send my employees down to clean the queue. All that fancy jargon. Queue....midway....capacity....blah blah blah. :lmao:

Hahaha! Thank you! I'm glad it could make you laugh. It's just such a confusing word hahha. I agree! I can't go to Disney without riding small world. :) Yeah the Pooh QUEUE was so cute! I didn't see all that much of it but there were some kids like banging on vegetables or something in Rabbit's garden. So cute! Pooh really must be a baby magnet! How adorable!

Loved your update. And we saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D and loved it. And we also loved the Tangled short as well. Very enjoyable. Looking forward to reading more about your trip !!

Thanks! I'm glad yall enjoyed Beauty and the Beast! Such a great movie. :) I'm glad you're enjoying!

Okay, the refurb was this past year right? Like when they updated the hitchhiking ghosts? Hahaha um Amanda... remember my first time in Disney was in 2010! So as far as I know, that store has been Castle Couture forever. Hahaha. However I think somewhere in that store you can call Tinkerbell and she'll come out for a second, or something. Ew, what? Peter Pan was a girl? That's just weird... I'm glad I've never seen that. I mean I know a woman usually plays him on Broadway maybe because he's so petite but I'm not sure! Hahaha oh yes Disney memories. Let's make some MORE. NOW.

It has been sooo long since I've gone on Haunted Mansion. I'm starting to pump up my son about riding it in December. I will ride it this year!

Aw yay! I hope your son likes it!

13 rolls of film?!?! Oh my gosh that's crazy! That's so funny. I hope yall had like, 100 rolls or something! Hahaha.

I know! The honey walls are so much fun. They're so creative!

Yeah, it's really cute! You should do it in December!

Yay, glad you're here! Hahaha that word seriously confuses me. I didn't realize all the theme parks did that! So much fanciness in the theme park industry! :rotfl:

Hey! I just wanted to let you know I was following along!

I am so jealous you have seen Beauty and the Beast twice! My mom was sick all last week and is still recovering so we haven't been able to go see it :headache: It is my favorite movie ever so I need to see it this week!

I believe the shortened Q is genius! All of those extra letters are basically useless and Q makes the line sound hip

I love the Haunted Mansion! It is definitely my favorite ride and I say the Stretching Room Sequence along with the "Ghost Host" too!!! I also sing aloud to Grim Grinning Ghosts but really who doesn't?! Is it sad that when I read the sentence from the spiel I heard the voice?

It's a Small World.. I consider that ride to be a frenemy of mine  I might not like it but I know I would be heartbroken if they ever took it out of the MK or my mom decided not to force me on it

You have never done Winnie the Pooh?! That is one of my favorite rides!!! I am in love with the Gophers after I had one say to me in a Joey Tribiani (Sp? Joey from friends anyway) voice "how you doin?" it was pretty awesome!

Maybe getting pixie dusted genetically modified your DNA and you now are filled with pixie dust? Hence the pixie dust being found on your head :confused3

I love y'all's bubbly excitement and that you're not embarrassed to let it show! I'm exactly the same way...if you can't act like a kid without a care at Disney, then where can you??

Your "cue" rant was hilarious! I was laughing out loud, and my BF asked me what was so funny, so I read it to him...then he had me read the whole installment to him. So you have another fan! Keep up the excellent work!

Hey Caitlin! Thanks so much!

I'm sorry your mom's been sick! :( You really do need to see it, especially since it's your favorite! It was amazing.

Exactly! The 'Q'. It's totally gonna catch on. :thumbsup2

Hahah no that is not sad at all! I am the exact same way.

Aw haha! I understand. I'm glad your mom forces you on it, haha, it's a classic!

I KNOW! I have no idea how I went without it for so long. But I love it and I'm so glad I was able to finally ride! OH MY GOSH are you serious?! Friends is my favorite show ever, I think I would have flipped out if the gopher had said that to me! They were saying taunting things when they were talking to me! hahaha

YES. I bet you're totally right. There is pixie dust permanently implanted in me! :rotfl:

Oh hahaha thanks! Ahh that's so cute! Thank you so much I'm glad you like it! It means a lot! :goodvibes
