you been

I heard of City Chicken. Never had it. Tonight I'm making fried scrapple sandwiches with egg and cream cheese on kaiser rolls. I guess most people will go, "Scrapple, ewww! but we all love it.
Scrapple? Thinly sliced SPAM layers atop pieces of graham cracker and American cheese, with Snapple poured over it? City Lasagna?

J/K, I had had to google it:

If I were feeding only myself, I'd be happy with a package of Knorr Teriyaki Noodles, maybe add some orange sauce. I could make do with cereal for dinner too. But as I do feed a few adults and my GS in this home, I go "all out" sometimes. LOL! tonight its homemade pizza!
::yes:: Yeah, heaven forbid that I'm ever on my own again but if I were, I'd be cooking and eating verrrry differently than I do for my household.
Tonight is what has been discribed as “white people tacos.” Ground beef, cheddar cheese and lettuce in lightly fried corn tortillas.
OK - I'm confused. Pardon my ignorance, but how do people of colour make a taco? I find the racial reference very strange.

And at 59, I thought I knew everything Low-Key. Apparently I do not! I'm from the Great Lakes state of WI and I've never heard of City Chicken. I swear if I see it anything soon, I'm gonna XXX YYY ZZZ.

ya still have a lot to learn kid

I live in an area with a large Mexican population. No Mexican I know of would make tacos with any of the three ingredients I used. As for the racial reference I didn't label it that someone I used to know did, if it matters he was Mexican.

I’m not sure most people will have heard of it? My great aunt always had scrapple for breakfast when we visited when I was a kid. My mother said I wouldn’t eat it if I knew what it was. I think I knew at one time, but I’ve forgotten. She lived in Shickshinny, PA—near Wilkes Barre.

Oh yeah...I forget how regional some foods can be. Scrapple is just what it sounds like, pig scraps all boiled together with cornmeal until it makes a mush and then you slice it and fry it in butter. I read the Wiki that @Mysterian linked to, and "everything but the oink" is very apt. It's very good if you grow up eating it without being told what it is. By the time you know, you don't care because it's soooooo good.

OK - but you still need to tell me what they put in tacos... :lmao:
