Sorry, i'm sure this has been asked a zillion times...can't find in a search.

If i buy tix from a broker (have used UT before, ML is coming in cheaper on a few types though)...

if i want to add NO EXPIRY OPTION @ the parks, do I pay the typical cost or do I get hit with a "hidden surcharge" of sorts to jack up the price?

Specifically, can i buy a 5 day tix for $210 from broker; then pay $42.60 to make it no-expiration @ gate for a total of $252.60 outlay or will WDW make me ante up the difference between full-price tix and what I paid?

You need to see #4 below

Basic Rules for upgrading tickets.

1. Any upgrade must be done at WDW at a location with access to the Automated Ticketing System (ATS). Basically this is any park (including water park) ticket window or Guest Services location, or one of the Downtown Disney Guest Services locations. The Lobby Concierge staff at the Resorts do not have all the accesses we have at the Parks. It cannot be done at a Disney Store.

2. If the ticket is pre-Magic Your Way (MYW) you cannot do anything with the ticket but use the remaining entitlements. You can go to any ticket or Guest Relations and they will be able to tell you what entitlements remain. If the ticket has become demagnetized we can reissue the ticket and the entitlements will remain the same as the old ticket.

3. Any MYW ticket (other than Florida Resident Play Three or any type of Annual Pass, discussed later) can be upgraded within 14 days of first use. There are no exceptions. This applies even if the ticket has the No Expire Option.

3A. A Florida Resident Play Three ticket, which has a six-month validity, may be upgraded within six months of first use.

4. If you purchased your MYW ticket at a price less than the current gate selling price for that ticket (such as from a discounter/broker or Advance Purchase) and you wish to do any upgrade, Disney will not penalize you for the discount. We will make an "intermediate" ticket at the current gate price, charging the difference between your old ticket and the intermediate one to an internal voucher account. Then we will take the intermediate ticket, which is at the current gate price, and upgrade it with the additional days and/or options you want, and you will only be charged for the differences in the current gate price plus tax. Note if you had paid full current gate price for your old ticket the intermediate step is not done.

5. The No Expire option is price is based on the total number of entitlements the ticket has had. If you had an original three day ticket, added five days and then used four days you will have four days of use remaining. If you upgrade to NE you will pay the rate for eight days.

5A. Similarly, if you had a three day NE ticket and upgraded it to five days, you would pay not only the fee for the extra two days entries but the difference between the three-day and five-day NE option.

6. If you upgrade to an Annual Pass of any type from a MYW ticket the expiration date of the AP will be one year from the date of first use of the ticket you are upgrading from, not one year from date of the AP.

6A. If the ticket you are upgrading from has the Water Parks Fun and More option, and you have used one or more of those options, you may only upgrade to a Premium Annual Pass.

7. If your ticket is unused, either MYW or Pre-MYW, and you wish to upgrade the ticket you will be given credit for Disney's actual selling price of that ticket. If it was sold to you by a discounter/broker it will be the amount that Disney charged the vendor, not what the vendor charged you. Unlike a partially used ticket, Disney will not "eat" the difference and you will have to pay the difference between what Disney originally sold the ticket for and the current gate price of the new ticket.

Just FYI - the cost of the Hopper option was increased to $45 as of 8/1/06, so your actual cost to add it is $47.93.

So if I got the deal with the free waterpark and hopper options, theoretically I could add no expiration if I have not used any of the WPM options?? If the cast member at the office was in a good mood, that is. And if I did use a WPM visit, I'd need to upgrade to PAP??

Autumn:

I think you misunderstood.

The only type of AP that you can upgrade a MYW & WPM ticket.. is premium. You can add no expiration per the other rules noted above regardless if you have used a WPM option or not.

Not correct. As long as none of the WPF&M options have been used, the ticket may be upgraded for the regular AP. If however any WPF&M options have been used, the upgrade can only be done to a PAP. See Mike's #6A above:

6A. If the ticket you are upgrading from has the Water Parks Fun and More option, and you have used one or more of those options, you may only upgrade to a Premium Annual Pass.

Adding the no expiration option to any MYW ticket does not depend on what's on the ticket or what has been used. It is a set fee determined by the original length of the ticket (total number of days), not by the entitlements on the ticket. It will cost the same whether you do it before you use any admissions or if you have used all admissions but one.
