Yet another FastPass+ Question Thread

I hope I can word this so that what I'm asking makes sense.
The "rolling" FastPass+ system confuses me a little. Okay, so we get 3 FP+ per park per day, right? And after we've used up those three (say, in Magic Kingdom), we could theoretically hop to Epcot (with park-hopper, obviously) and book a 4th FP+ there. Is that even if we haven't used any FP+ for Epcot yet?

For example, say it's our first day in the parks, and we use our 3 MK FP+s. We have 3 Epcot FP+s scheduled for the following day, but on that first day after doing MK we want to hop to Epcot. Can we use the 4th "rolling" FP+ at Epcot on that first day even though we haven't used the initial 3 FP+s for that park yet because we haven't gotten to that day yet?

Or are "rolling" FP+s only able to be used in parks where you've already used those initial 3 FP+s?
