Yes, We're Satisfied With Our Care! October 2015 TR **NEW 8/21 Final Thoughts

I love the Boo to You parade. It's so neat to not only see the characters in costume but to also see characters that aren't normally in the parades. DH took lots of great pictures!

Just joining in and catching up. Your family is adorable. I loved the Halloween parade pictures. That parade is one of my favorites.

That parade is the best! Love it!

I love it too! One of my favorite parts of the party.

I'm sorry about the long line in Storybook Circus but it looks like a fun meet! I love the pictures of the two pumpkins - DD and Donald!

Even though it wasn't a front row spot, it seems like a great place for the parade. Especially with not having to sit there for an hour and waste so much pay time.

I love the Boo to You parade pictures. Having seen the Christmas and Halloween parades, I really can't pick a favorite. Both have such great music and costumes and characters!

It was definitely a fun meet & worth the wait! I just wish we would have planned a little better so we could have maybe fit it one other thing before having to go find a parade spot.

Sitting and waiting forever for the parade was just not an option for the price we paid for admission. It was not as good of a "last minute" spot as we found in 2013, but it was decent enough for not staking it out way in advance.

The party parades are just the best! It's been awhile since I have seen the Christmas one, but I remember really loving it and the Holiday Wishes fireworks. The parties are just so much fun!

I love the Boo to You parade. It's so neat to not only see the characters in costume but to also see characters that aren't normally in the parades. DH took lots of great pictures!

I totally agree, it's SUCH a fun parade! And the characters are so cute in their costumes!!

Just joining in and catching up. Your family is adorable. I loved the Halloween parade pictures. That parade is one of my favorites.

Welcome & thanks for commenting!! Thank you! It's my favorite of the nighttime parades, with Festival of Fantasy being my favorite of the daytime parades. I never used to really enjoy the parades before going with the kids. Now we love them!!

Love all the parade pictures! I really miss that parade, I need to get back for Halloweentime soon!

There's always time for trick or treating! The Tiki Room stop was one of my favorites.

Great start to the MNSSHP! Nice you got a ride in and then the great character meet. I agree, your dh looks scary!! Eek! Nice costumes and great ideas. DD is adorable in her pumpkin costume. Great parade shots!

This post will be pretty photo heavy since DH took a LOT of parade pictures!
Awesome! Always enjoy them!

I spotted Courtney (@courtneybelle ) who was working the party during her college program, but she didn’t have time to do any more than say hi because it was pretty hectic for the CMs working the parade route that night. But it was still nice to see someone I have interacted with on the boards for years in person!
I'm glad you got to see her even if just briefly. I can only imagine how busy that job would be. I certainly would never have the patience to be able to do that job!

DH was happy to get to see inside of the Tiki Room stop since he had missed doing it with DS and I last time. It is pretty neat to get to go inside and see and hear the birds shifting around while you Trick or Treat!
Cool! I didn't realize that they used it for trick or treating. That would be a neat experience to get to walk through there and get some candy!

great parade photos - and that is probably one parade that fits as well in Frontierland as on Main St.

That does sound neat going into a "working" tiki room while you trick or treat

Soon enough, the Headless Horseman was making his ride down the parade route!

Great photo!

Clarabelle! Oh, Izzy would be thrilled to see her!

Thanks for sharing the parade photos - making me realize we haven't seen it in 5 years. That party is so much fun and now I miss it!

Thanks! I absolutely love that parade. We are looking forward to the party again this year! Halloween has become our very favorite time of year to visit.

I love that even when the trick or treat lines look long, they go so fast. We got a lot more trick or treating done than we had thought we would!

Great start to the MNSSHP! Nice you got a ride in and then the great character meet. I agree, your dh looks scary!! Eek! Nice costumes and great ideas. DD is adorable in her pumpkin costume. Great parade shots!

It was a pretty good use of our pre-party time, considering we got there a bit later than 4 pm.

DH's costume came out great, but the mask was definitely creepy! It took me some getting used to that night for sure. lol

I'm glad you got to see her even if just briefly. I can only imagine how busy that job would be. I certainly would never have the patience to be able to do that job!

It was great to finally see her in person. But she and all of the other CMs in the area were quite frazzled because one of the poles for the parade ropes was missing! It has to be tough trying to herd and direct ALL those people that are at the parties!!

Cool! I didn't realize that they used it for trick or treating. That would be a neat experience to get to walk through there and get some candy!

At our first party, I didn't realize it right away either. Most of the other trick or treating locations at attractions were just in the queue, so it was a fun surprise that the Tiki Room one was actually inside. DH was bummed we did it without him in 2013, so he had specifically requested this one this time.

Thanks!

It definitely does fit with the themeing in Frontierland. Although it is a bit darker for DH to take photos, it's my favorite spot to watch the Boo to You parade.

It was very cool! All of the other trick or treat locations around attractions were just in the queue.

Great photo!

Thank you!

Clarabelle! Oh, Izzy would be thrilled to see her!

Thanks for sharing the parade photos - making me realize we haven't seen it in 5 years. That party is so much fun and now I miss it!

It's cool that they have some characters in this parade that you really don't see anywhere else like Clarabelle.

We love the party! I can't wait to go again this year!

Day 4 Continued: Tuesday October 20th

After getting lots of candy, we made our way up towards Main Street and met up with Missy & Franklin (@Missyrose & @Pixel Dust ) who were also at the party! They had a great spot staked out in the new hub grass area, and DH had been in touch with Franklin leading up to the trip, so we had planned to meet up so the guys could photograph the fireworks together. Unfortunately, DD was being a bit fussy and miserable, so although I was able to say a quick hello, I then parked myself on the ground next to the stroller so that I could nurse her somewhat comfortably.

While waiting there, we hoped to see Celebrate the Magic, but it ended up being cancelled for some reason. We also hadn’t made plans to see the castle forecourt show with the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus, but we could hear it and partially see while we waited.

Oh, a fun moment for DS happened here! Missy & Franklin were dressed as Ariel & Prince Eric that night, but were going to a second party later in the week dressed as Hiro & Honey Lemon from Big Hero 6. Too bad that party night didn’t line up for all of us because that would have made for a fun photo op! However, as part of his costume, Franklin had made little microbots to hand out in the little plastic cases just like from the movie, and he had one for DS! He thought that was just about the coolest thing ever! He still has that microbot on his shelf in his room.

Finally, it was time for the one, the only…HalloWishes!!!

When you hear the knell of a requiem bell
Weird glows gleam where the spirits dwell
Restless bones etherialize
Rise as spooks of every size
Grim grinning ghosts, come out to socialize

After picking our jaws up off the ground, we wanted to head through some more trick or treat spots! We bid farewell to Missy & Franklin with plans to catch up with them later in the week and headed across the park to Tomorrowland to catch the trick or treat stops at Stitch’s Great Escape and Carousel of Progress.

DH had been hoping to stay for the second parade, so we made our way back to Main Street and found a spot in front of the train station. After sitting a few minutes, DS was getting restless. For the moment, DD was asleep in the stroller. When I looked, Mickey Mouse only had a 15 minute wait, so while DH stayed with DD, I took DS to meet him. I don’t think we waited even 10 minutes before we were brought back to Mickey’s dressing room.

In 2013 when we had done this meet at the party, talking Mickey was a new thing, so we ended up meeting talking Mickey in his regular magician costume. While it was cool to experience talking Mickey for the first time, I had been looking forward to seeing him dressed up for Halloween. This year, we got both!

Mickey got DS to act like Zombie Goofy with him, and they marched around saying, “Braaaaains! Braaaaaaaaains!” It was pretty cute!

Of course, I had to hop in for a quick photo too!

Then hugs from Mickey before heading back out to wait with DH.

After getting back to the stroller, we managed to hang on until the Headless Horseman made his pass prior to the parade.

However, by then DD had woken up and was fussy, DS was whining he was ready to go, and I was pretty tired myself. We still had a good 15 minutes or so before we would even see the parade from there, so we decided to call it quits. Well, the kids and I did. DH was not too happy about that decision. But sometimes as parents, you have to know when to miss out on something in an effort to avoid a tired meltdown! Considering it was already after 11:30, I thought we had done pretty well for having 2 kids with us. Had they not pushed the times of both parades and fireworks back from previous years, I think we might have been able to make it through the second parade or at least most of it. But it was just so late by then, and we still had to take the monorail to the TTC, get to our car, and drive back to Bonnet Creek!

It was after midnight when we got back, and DS got a quick bath and went straight to bed, with us following as closely behind as we could.

Overall, I'm glad we had done the party. It had been a big decision to buy the tickets considering we planned this trip mostly through my pregnancy without knowing how DD would be by the time the trip rolled around. For most of the planning, we had decided the party just wouldn't work out for us. But over the summer, we spent a lot of time in our pool listening to Disney music on the stereo and every time we heard the Boo to You or HalloWishes music, it would make us so nostalgic for the party! Once DD had come and we had gotten a feel for her personality, we decided to commit to the party and buy tickets. While it was definitely more difficult (at least for me) with the baby along and keeping her happy, and it was not as smooth of a night as our first party due to it being sold out, I'm still so glad we did the party. It's so much fun! I love the vibe of the park once it switches over to party time. I wish we would have had time for maybe one or two more things, but I think all things considered, we accomplished a lot. And DS had a blast, which always boosts my enjoyment. DH was pretty bummed about missing the second parade, but I think he enjoyed the party overall as well. We are hoping to go to a party again when we go this October!

UP NEXT: The Dreaded Blue Mickey

While waiting there, we hoped to see Celebrate the Magic, but it ended up being cancelled for some reason.
:sad2:

:rotfl2: Loved all those beautiful fireworks photos!

:lmao: That's great! So fun!

Considering it was already after 11:30, I thought we had done pretty well for having 2 kids with us.
Wow, yeah, you did great. That's super late with the kids. :faint:

We are hoping to go to a party again when we go this October!
You are making me wish I was going that time of year and making me nostalgic for the one we went to. So much fun!

That would have been so great if everyone was dressed in their BH6 costumes on the same night! But so nice of Franklin to give some bots to DS!

Awesome Hallowishes photos! Definitely my favorite fireworks show. You guys had a great viewing spot!

I'm glad Talking Mickey dresses up for the party now! I was dissapointed when we went to MVMCP and we couldn't meet him in his Christmas outfit. DS looks so cute with Mickey, sounds like a fun interaction!

Great Headless Horseman photos! I'm sorry you had to bail on the 2nd parade, but it't totally understandable.

I'm glad you guys were happy with your decision to do the party. Despite any setbacks, it sounds like you had a good time!

Well, that's a disappointment.

Cute! But the smiles on both their faces just don't quite have the zombie look. :rotfl2:

I'm sorry you couldn't stick around, but I get it. You did what you had to do at the time. It was better than having a full blown meltdown, and likely fighting a bigger crowd trying to leave after the parade.

I'm glad that you were able to go and experience it. I'm not sure I'll ever see MVMCP just due to the time of year that it is, but it really looks like an awesome event. I enjoyed the picture of the fireworks, as always!

Greetings from the suburbs of New Orleans. Another member of the Who Dat Nation here. I'm about half way through the trip report and loving it. I'm so glad you've included Universal as I'm trying to get as much info as I can about it. We are planning to go next year for Mardi Gras. Back to reading but I wanted to pop in and say hello.

Seems like you had a good time at the party ... maybe next time you can get a photo or 2 of the fireworks ;)

Seriously though, those are great pictures and I love how you insert the lyrics to the songs in there as well!

Definitely have to pick you battles and I think missing the 2nd viewing of a parade is something you have to forego when the kids are whiny - like you said, they did pretty good going as far as they can (though, I can see DH desire and in the moment thinking "what's just a bit longer?")

:rotfl2::thumbsup2

I'm sorry Celebrate the Magic was canceled! But seriously amazing fireworks pictures. Hallowishes is my favorite nighttime show at WDW!

Glad DS got a chance to meet Mickey in his Halloween costume!

And I agree, the party can be difficult to navigate with kids along. It's quite late and there is lots of waiting for parades and fireworks but it sounds like everyone had a great night!

Those fireworks pictures are amazing!!!! And the Zombie Mickey pictures are so cute!!

Thank you! The Zombie Mickey meet was a lot of fun. I'm glad we had a chance to meet him during the party!

That would have been really cool!

It would have made for some really fun pictures.

Wow, what a great gift!

So clever & so thoughtful of Franklin! DS really loved it. He was totally amazed!

:rotfl2: Loved all those beautiful fireworks photos!

Thank you! They came out great!

:lmao: That's great! So fun!

I love that he does different things with the guests instead of just saying hello or something.

Wow, yeah, you did great. That's super late with the kids. :faint:

A thousand times yes! lol It was soooooo late, but worth it for just one night of the trip. Definitely not something we could do every night! We actually didn't even see Wishes with the kids in February because they weren't until 10 pm every night.

You are making me wish I was going that time of year and making me nostalgic for the one we went to. So much fun!

Just reliving it through the TR is making me so excited for the party this year too!

That would have been so great if everyone was dressed in their BH6 costumes on the same night! But so nice of Franklin to give some bots to DS!

Awesome Hallowishes photos! Definitely my favorite fireworks show. You guys had a great viewing spot!

It definitely would have been fun, but so totally nice & thoughtful of Franklin to bring that bot for DS. He was amazed!

They are my favorite fireworks too! I love the soundtrack and the 180 degree fireworks are so cool!

Yeah, in 2013 it was cool to see talking Mickey, but at the same time, I would have been happier to see him non talking but in his Halloween outfit since we were taking party time to do it. It's just not as special when he is the same at the party as he is any other time of the day that you could meet him!

We had a fantastic time at the party! I can't wait to do it again this year. It's one of our favorite things to do in Disney now.

Well, that's a disappointment.

Yeah, it was a bummer. It was just about showtime, and they made an announcement like, "Whoops, sorry, no show for you tonight."

Cool! I can only imagine how cool that was for him!

He thought it was about the coolest thing ever.
Cute! But the smiles on both their faces just don't quite have the zombie look. :rotfl2:

lol that's true! It took DS a minute to figure out what was happening and when he did, he couldn't stop laughing!

I had these visions of the mass exodus at midnight and the huge line for the monorail and 2 tired kids...sounded terrible!! But I think we managed to last longer than I had imagined when planning the trip, so that's not bad at all.

It's a really fun party if you ever do find yourself able to go in the fall. The fireworks are amazing on their own!

Welcome!!! Love meeting other Who Dats on here!!

I'm glad you enjoyed the Universal portion. We absolutely LOVE Universal, so I'm glad DS is old enough to enjoy it now. We skipped it the first couple of years with him because we knew he couldn't do too much there. If you have any questions in your planning, let me know!

We just did a Mardi Gras trip this past year and had a blast! Now that DS is a little older, we might have more MG trips in our future as he gets too old to miss a week of school in the fall.

Seems like you had a good time at the party ... maybe next time you can get a photo or 2 of the fireworks ;)

Seriously though, those are great pictures and I love how you insert the lyrics to the songs in there as well!

Definitely have to pick you battles and I think missing the 2nd viewing of a parade is something you have to forego when the kids are whiny - like you said, they did pretty good going as far as they can (though, I can see DH desire and in the moment thinking "what's just a bit longer?")

lol It's so hard to choose when we sit down and look through them!!

I feel like I gotta do something to break up the tons of photos, so the soundtrack is usually my go-to trick. :thumbsup2 It's a great soundtrack too!

DH was absolutely at that point where he was thinking, "Come on, it's almost over!" But I had visions in my head of it taking forever to get on a monorail and back to Bonnet Creek if we waited until it was totally over. And the kids had done as best they could given the circumstances!

It was a bummer because we enjoyed CtM at our last party with the addition of the villains! Hallowishes is my favorite Disney fireworks show too! The soundtrack really enhances it too!

It was pretty cool that he was both talking and in Halloween costume! Definitely made for a fun meet!

We had a great time, all things considered and it being a sold out night. I hate that so much of it has to be spent waiting in line or sitting and waiting for the shows, but there's just no way to do it all, unfortunately, so you have to pick what is most important to you. We just never get to take advantage of those short ride lines because there is so much else to do!
