YES, touring Cinderella’s Dream Suite was Amazing!+14 Other Magical Days* Dismeet & Wrap

Hi Brenda - doing my weekend drive-by in an attempt to stay up to date on the DIS. Never enough time…..

Love the Epcot shark pictures!!! :rotfl2:

Wow I missed a whole whack load of stuff! My bad!! At least I'm catching up now! Lol.

Glad ya'll took a little break in MK, sometimes some solo time is all you need!! Even or...especially....in Disney!

I had no idea grown ups could get hair cuts in MK! That's so awesome!!

Love all the DHS adventures! I haven't had a lot of experience with the streetmosphere over there, but they always seem like they're super fun, I'll make a point to stop next time I see them!

Beaches & Cream is so good!! I LOVED the grilled cheese, but I love any grilled cheese lol!

Nice Epcot shots!! And that Snow was definitely in training! That's why she was out over there, and explains the extra energy, shorter sets, new to it, but it's weird she'd be out later in the day! Since she hangs around in Germany too....:confused3

After the boring character meets I've had, Snow White on meds was rather refreshing! I kind of like her!

Too bad the sandwich was disappointing. Looking at the menu, that's what I would have probably ordered. Em's burger looked really good, though.

The dreaded envelope of doom...

I had a lot of catching up to do!

What a productive day you guys had!! Fun stuff at DHS. Always so sad to leave a park for the last time on a trip though :sad2:

Time to get caught up here! I have updates to finish day 14 so hopefully I can get this done today. I would have more time for DISing if it wasn't for the annoying habit I have of working... more than I would like lately. Once I on-board some new staff I should be back to my normal 50 hour work week. ;)

My apologies to everyone with whom I've fallen behind with subscriptions. I've read through many (Dee, glad to see you giving Bo love) but have not had time to comment.

I'm sure you are not! Cute picture!

Ugh - the dreaded DME folder. Boo! They should just send it to your phone so you don't have to look at it.

Cute picture of you and Em on the bridge and with the super enhanced Snow White!

Thanks Mary Ellen. Hey, that's a great idea. Text the DME info so you don't have the shame of finding the hanging paperwork on your door.

Em's face in that video with Snow White had me :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:! Exactly how I would have reacted...that is quite a chipper princess!! I have to give the face characters (and even the fur characters) props because the last thing on earth I enjoy doing is performing, and those guys don't hesitate at all.

I love the inside of the Seas! That picture of you inside of Bruce's mouth is perfect! :goodvibes

That Snow was a bundle of energy despite being so blazing HOT out!

Ha ha! It was a fun photo but I should have acted as if getting eaten by a shark was terrifying and not such fun. I don't want to give kids the wrong impression.

Isn't VoTLM perfect for when it's blazing hot outside? Especially with the little sprinkling you get when the show starts. :rotfl2:

Snow White in Future World? Yeah, that's totally something I've never seen before.

Holy chipper Snow White! Wow. I love Em's face in parts of it. That would have totally been my face too.

Exactly! I agree with you. A/C relaxation with some Ariel and her pals is a great way to cool off in the heat of summer. It's much preferred to hanging out in the a/c in the ladies room.

Ok, glad it just wasn't me not paying attention to those characters. I'm used to seeing Snow in Germany.

All caught up! You're almost done!

:flower3: Almost! Goodness, it's been sooooo long. Thanks for hanging in there.

Hmmm, I also love taking photos of Ariel. Probably for different reasons though. :scratchin

Awww, what an adorable photo with you and Em. Sibling rivalry over. :flower3:

Oh wow, how cool to randomly run into Snow. Those types of character meets are so enjoyable when they're unexpected. Hmmmm Snow... perhaps a sign of TR things to come...

Yeah, I imagine! :rolleyes1 Between juggling the affections of Ariel and Stacey you have your hands full!

Thanks Rob! That little episode was long forgotten by then.

:lmao: Totally unexpected!

Fun update. Loved Em's face when Snowy started to dance and wanted her to spin with her!

Beaches and Cream is fun for deserts, but it was just OK for food. I think I have found much tastier options out on the Boardwalk.

We love stopping to read the little sidewalk etchings in UK.

Oooooh, the dreaded envelope!

Hope that helps!

thanks for providing that information Linda. That is awesome.

Em just went with the Snow thing but it was funny to see her reaction, kinda like "save me" :)

I think I need to go back to having the burger and onion rings at B&C. But you're right, their desserts Rock!!

I enjoy seeing other's post the sidewalk chalk in England since they seem to be clever and creative.

Awesome pictures of the Little Mermaid show and Nemo, too. What a great afternoon under the sea.

And in the shark's jaws. That photo is a keeper.

Very cute pictures on the bridge with Paris as a backdrop. I guess it must be impossible to have photopass pictures there without a little kiss.

I need to go back now to read your Beaches & Cream review and to look at the video.

:goodvibes

Hi Dee! I should send my Bruce photo to my mom and dad to put on their mantle. I think they need a new photo of me. popcorn::

Hmmm...you just may be right. I recall your anniversary photopass kiss on the bridge in Epcot.

What a hilarious video of Snow White and Em! I would venture a guess that snow was the head cheerleader at Princess High School.

:cheer2:

GREAT reviews of both Beaches & Cream and Crew's Cup (I skipped ahead). In fact, I may have added links to these to the FAQ thread already. ::rolleyes1

I haven't read many reviews of CC and yours was so informative and detailed! Thanks for including photos of the menu. Items look great.

Sorry you were disappointed in your grilled cheese. I am considering going to Beaches & Creamfor the first time during my 1 day drive-by at the Beach Club for the FAQ DISmeet in August. The grilled cheese and tomato soup is one of the top contenders for my meal if I go. The Reuben and the burger are the other possibilities.

:thumbsup2

Awesome, thanks for posting those links Dee. I hope it helps. Crew's Cup is a great option and Beaches & Cream is usually a perfect casual meal at the resort. That was the first time that I didn't love my meal but we'll be back next month. (Actually late this month/early next month.) I do love the soup though so you should try that.

I've been trying and trying to get the kids to agree to go see Voyage of the Little Mermaid and each time DD vetoes it because she's pretty sure that Ursula will be terrifying. So I have yet to have seen this attraction for myself - somehow I couldn't bring myself to try it solo last October. :lmao:

Love your photo with Bruce!!

Hi Dave! If your DD has been on the Little Mermaid ride at MK you can tell her that the Ursula experience on Voyage of the LM is similar. Although she would have to endure seeing Eric kiss Ariel. Oh wait, they do that on the other ride too. They must like each other. :)

You would have awesome photos of that show. You should go so I can see how a pro does his work during the show. :thumbsup2

haha - that would be funny if there was a PED controversy with the characters at Disney World and congress had to get involved like with professional baseball and all the senators are asking for Anna & Elsa's autographs like they did with McGuire, etc. :lmao:

Bummer that you didn't enjoy your sandwich - always annoying when something is good one time and then the next time it isn't and you are all "wait, what the? What happened?!?!?"

You look awfully happy to be shark food!

ha ha! Gotta love your reference.

I did that exact thing. Whoa, what? That thing was good before. At least Em liked it and we swapped a few morsels of food. I'm still a fan of B&C, I just may not order the grilled cheese soon.

Snow White is absolutely adorable! Disney should video her and train new CM's with her videos. She's amazing!

I think everytime they bring the DME papers, a shot of liquor should be included:thumbsup2:lmao:

That Snow should train Rapunzels. I think of her as the way Rapunzel was during her manic moments right after she "escaped" the tower. That would be spot on training.

Ha ha!! A little comfort for the pain of the DME tag huh? ;)

Another wonderful update
How odd to see Snow White in Future World - not seen that before, perhaps she had a FP+ for Soarin?

Thanks Linda! I know right? That was an odd setting for Snow. There was really no one in line so maybe people thought it was an oops! She's lost.

I'll be back to finish up comments and post some updates. I thought I'd get through these before I had to start my day. :)

Brenda, I have to apologize for getting so far behind! Doing my best to stay caught up these days.

I've never tried a Dole Whip. One of these days I will. My DH actually commented in May that "they must sell something good there since the line is always so long" :rotfl:

Love the Streetmosphere performers! Love your interaction with them!

You had me laughing about Snow using PEDs. She'd better take it easy before she outgrows the tiara ;)

Hey there Shannon! So glad to see you!! :goodvibes I owe you apologies back since I've not been able to get caught up with your TR!

Ha ha! Yes, those long Dole Whip lines are a testament to their deliciousness. The lines are even longer at Disneyland.

Those DHS Streetmosphere characters are so perfect.

Snow could use less caffeine or something. She was very chipper!

So I fell off the face of the dis planet for a bit there...oops! I'm catching up though, promise! I love hearing all about the fun & of course, you're always full of disney wisdom! Hope all is well!!

No worries Jennifer! Such a shocker that this thing is still going on when you found your Dis place once again! :rotfl2: I hope all is well. :goodvibes

VotLM, definitely a great place to cool off in the middle of the day. Either that or One Man's Dream are my two favorite cool-down spots. (Of course LM has continuous seating, so that's a plus.)

I'm not sure, but I know sometimes they do character training in certain off the beaten path locations. We saw Merid by the International Gateway once. So maybe that Snow was practicing really hard. :confused3:rotfl:

Well, that sure is a depressing sign to come back to at your beautiful CR room. :sad1:

Hi Alicia! I cry during One Man's Dream show and for VotLM I only wish Ariel and Eric would really kiss! Ok, your comparisons were much better.

Hmmmm maybe Snow was over by The Seas to mix things up. It would make just as much sense to have Belle by Journey into Imagination. I suppose they have a reason for where they place those characters... obviously they didn't staff that with me so I have no clue. :p

Definitely a reaction of 'Oh Noooooo' when you see the DME envelope.

Too bad you didn't love your sandwich. I really want to try beaches & cream some time, Em's burger looks good!
Yikes... That is one hyper Snow White. The look on Em's face really says it all. :rotfl:
Love your picture with Bruce!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Hi Wendy! The burgers have always been excellent at B&C so if you consider going I think that would be a great choice.

That was a funny look Em gave when Snow took her for a spin.

Thanks! I'm always glad to be shark bait - in Disney.

Hi Brenda! I've been a comment slacker lately and I'm so sorry! I went back to work not too long ago and it's been a big adjustment after being a stay at home mama for the past 4 years, but I've got my feet propped up and I'm ready to get all caught up on your awesome trip report! :thumbsup2

Hi there Lauren!! No worries, I completely understand the huge change that must have been in life for you. I hope all is going well. That's a tough job to juggle work and little ones. I hand it to you! :) Thanks for getting caught up.

I have totally gotten a bathrobe to wear for ToT and act "incognito" as an actual Hollywood Tower Hotel guest.

securedownload.jpg

Also, maybe for now you are the only parent who is in line for a picture as Bruce's lunch while the kid takes the picture...but one day I may or may not join you, because while Landon joins me for now, he may not always.

Oh my GOSH! That photo of Landon on ToT is priceless.

Definitely plan to be the only mom in line with the kids. It will confuse the kids and the parents will take photos of you too for their TRs!

Great updates as always Brenda! It looks like you and Em had a great last day despite the small "time-out". My daughter and I have always gotten along very well too, but will occasionally butt heads. A little breathing room is usually all it takes to right the world again, glad it worked for you two as well! :thumbsup2

The street performers at DHS are one of the best reasons to visit the park IMO, they're always hilarious. How cool to have Shelby "princess-nap" you and drive you around the plaza! Loved your princess wave, very star-like! :cool2:

Wow, the FW Snow White was very ... er ... animated. LOL! Em was a good sport to twirl with her. :goodvibes

Oh no, the dreaded DME hang tag! :scared:

Hi Carol! We were completely "healed" after that little time out.

Isn't Shelby priceless? He and Dorma are awesome. If I had to be "princess-napped" I was glad it was him. ;)

It was interesting to watch Snow. I wasn't sure what Em would do but she played along well.

We were going to do the Mermaid attraction but ended up at American Idol instead. I would have preferred Mermaid. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Hmmmm....I was going to order that Grilled Cheese in September. Now you have me thinking.

You had me cracking up at Snow White on PEDS. Just looking at her she looks a little "out" there.

Hey, I'm going to ask Mark to stand in line and take my picture with Ana and Elsa if he doesn't want to get in the action. So I find it perfectly normal that you get a picture with Bruce.

I hate that envelope from Disney.

Hi Kathy! Idol instead of VotLM? :lmao: I prefer Mermaid too.

Go ahead and order the grilled cheese. I loved it the first time. Not sure what happened the second but Em still liked it. It may have just been me after 2 weeks of Disney dining I was feeling a little off.

That Snow was really putting on the show. She must have been exhausted is what I kept thinking. And it was so hot out.

See? Glad other adults understand my desire for a unique photo op. I'll be looking for you with those Nordic lasses in Sept.

Yeah, booo, hate the envelope.

Honestly, I don't think missing the Mine Train was such a big loss (as long as you'll be back over the next few months). There's one scene that probably makes it worth riding, and I'd also recommend doing it at night for a different perspective. Otherwise, there's not much to it - it's certainly no RSR or Diagon Alley. Speaking of which, I also missed the opening of Uni's newest expansion (by about two weeks), but that's ok - seeing Jimmy Fallon and his guests in the park was possibly even cooler. :goodvibes Dreams definitely came true at Universal during Diagon Alley Preview Week!

I do have a Disney trip coming up in early July...although it isn't primarily a Disney trip...and it's not in Florida or CA. :worried: But my next Uni trip will probably be in late-July or early-August, since I have to see Diagon Alley before summer ends. The next trip after that will depend on my work schedule (which is a big question mark right now - I'm one of those college grads who hasn't figured out what I'm doing next), but we do have a tentative on-site WDW booking for January. It's actually our first booking with DVC points - we caved and bought some points at GF. :thumbsup2

And I'm so glad you liked your first dole whip! I highly recommend trying the pineapple-vanilla swirl (although the pineapple sorbet at L'Artisan des Glaces might be WDW's best frozen pineapple treat of all!).

Mr. DDW I need to message you. Our dates may overlap for late July/early August and GASP.... we will be going to the Dark Side. Em requested to see Diagon Alley.

I was hoping that all the hype over the Mine Train ride put it over the top. When they re-engineered BTMRR in DL it was fabulous. It still has long lines. Now you have me wondering about this ride.

What? You caved? You are now a proud DVC owner! Congrats! I'll be staying at the VGF, on cash, part of our trip. I've not even toured the villas yet. :)

Glad all is well!

Hi Brenda - doing my weekend drive-by in an attempt to stay up to date on the DIS. Never enough time…..

Love the Epcot shark pictures!!! :rotfl2:

Hi Roni! I'm with you... there's never enough time. :rolleyes2

Hey there Katt! Yeah, you missed a whack load! :rotfl2:

Yeah, who knew that adults also stopped by the Harmony Barber Shop. I was surprised to see mostly adults in there.

I can picture you hanging out with the DHS crew. They'd love you - all cute and adorable. You would be a Shelby magnet!

I loved the grilled cheese the first time but not sure what happened that time. Now I'm craving grilled cheese!

THANKS for answering the out of place Snow question. I was seriously wondering why she was over in FW. It was just so odd.

After the boring character meets I've had, Snow White on meds was rather refreshing! I kind of like her!

Too bad the sandwich was disappointing. Looking at the menu, that's what I would have probably ordered. Em's burger looked really good, though.

The dreaded envelope of doom...

That Snow was definitely full of energy. When I think about it, if she was the opposite there would be no magic to her persona. Her report card for the day would have an O for her effort.

I'm thinking I need to go back and try that grilled cheese again. Now all this talk about it I'm craving grilled cheese. It is a 6 cheese blend so maybe I only liked 5 of the cheeses. :confused3 Their burgers are always good. Oh, and their onion rings. Yum.

I've found a way to avoid the envelope now. A single night stay at the end of your trip and no dreaded envelope of doom! :upsidedow

I had a lot of catching up to do!

What a productive day you guys had!! Fun stuff at DHS. Always so sad to leave a park for the last time on a trip though :sad2:

Hi Julie! It was a great day and more fun to come. :thumbsup2

Thursday August 29, 2013: Day 14, Part 6

Em and I were meeting friends for a special evening of dinner and the Illuminations cruise. Anyone following Rob’s current December TR or if you’ve read my December Dining Review contributions to Barb’s live diving thread, you’ve already seen photos from our 2nd Illuminations cruise. For continuity, this was actually our first Illuminations cruise but since it’s taken me almost 10 months to get to this point it may seem like de je vu!

Our cruise companions this evening were our pals Dean and Linda. Dean is the retired MK Grand Marshal host that selected us, and thousands like us, for the afternoon MK parade. Our moment happened to be in August 2010. Dean has since written a book about his experience making magic happen for countless park guests.

With those exciting plans, we didn’t have long to hang out in the room before we were picked up by our friends for the drive from BLT to YC.
On the way over to the YC resort we received a ‘back stage’ driving tour of the Disney property behind MK. It is a public road that loops behind MK but it is Disney property. We saw the building where the monorails go to sleep – the same building as the trains. He showed us the huge Christmas decorations building, Disney University, and some other buildings. We were shown where they launch the Wishes fireworks. They water down the area in advance of the show as a safety precaution. Depending on the moisture and humidity it will determine the amount of water they need to use. There is a Disney fire station next door. The loop came back out by the Grand Floridian hotel.

May I present the Motor Pool

We arrived at the YC and a sweet CM took our group photo both outside and inside.

I had suggested eating at Crew’s Cup Lounge, next to Yachtsman Steakhouse, before the cruise. They have a small menu and a full bar so it seemed like a great option.

DSCN2684.jpg

My dining review for this meal can be found here. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with this couple and hearing so many wonderful stories of his years as the parade Grand Marshal Coordinator. I tell ya, there were a lot of pushy people and even some that wanted to bribe him to be grand marshals. The nerve!

DSCN2698.jpg

Following dinner we checked in for our boat and were introduced to our Captain, Dave. We had the “pirate boat” which was thusly named because of its black sails. For anyone interested, they do offer DVC and AP discounts. At the time it was $277 with the AP discount which included the private boat, snacks, non-alcohol drinks, and a captain. The gratuity for the Captain is not included. The boats accommodate up to 10 people (children, regardless of age and/or adults) for the flat fee.

We took some group photos before boarding the boat.

DSCN2718.jpg

We then settled in and checked out the snacks offered – chips, popcorn, granola bars, and cookies. There were a variety of soft drinks and water bottles in the cooler. I think I counted 30 individual snack packages and 3 6-packs of soda and a half dozen water bottles. Way more than our party of 4 could consume. Also as an FYI, you are welcome to bring cocktails on board.

DSCN2745.jpg

Our tour departed the dock and we trolled around Crescent Lake and then headed over to the DHS area and then back around to Boardwalk. While we were over by DHS Dave turned the light on to look for gators and didn’t see any. I was astounded… what? There’s really gators in the water at WDW? It was explained there are occasionally, but they are not big. Any body of water in Florida can have gators. They have to be a certain size before they are removed. Truth? Knowing how gullible I am it worked.

DSCN2799.jpg

We eventually motored over to the bridge by France and anchored or whatever they did to make the boat stay in one place. There were 4 boats total and they connected all of them together with a rope. We arrived about 15 minutes before Illuminations started and got settled in.

DSCN2831.jpg

DSCN2846.jpg

There was a friendly couple in the boat to our right while the boat on our other side had a large party that was celebrating an anniversary – they were party central!! It was a very fun and festive atmosphere. The show hadn’t even started yet and we were having a ton of fun. It was already worth renting the boat.

Once the torches were “blown out” all eyes turned to the center of WS lagoon. This was an awesome location. I’ll let the photos do all the talking:

Thursday August 29, 2013: Day 14, Part 7

Right after the finale, the guy in the boat next to us proposed to his girlfriend and she said yes. We all clapped and cheered and everyone shook the guys hand.

DSCN3030.jpg

We were in no hurry to leave and lingered there for a bit while we unhooked from the other boats. When we returned to the Bayside Marina dock we posed for photos with the captain. He said that we could take the snacks with us. We told Linda and Dean to take them since we wouldn’t have any use for them. We thanked our captain and said our good-byes to him.

DSCN3063.jpg

We drove back to BLT where we said our good-byes to Dean and Linda. We said we’d be back in December so gave them our travel dates so that we could meet back up – which we did. (Stay tuned for that TR!)

Wishes was just starting at 10pm when we got back to the hotel. I took a few photos from the bridge between BLT and CR and watched the final fireworks show of the trip. Following the fireworks was the electric water pageant on Bay Lake.

It was at this point that I finally remembered to check in for our afternoon flight the next day on Southwest airlines. Oops! Good thing I had purchased Early Bird check in that saved us a place in line, usually the A boarding group. We were A 45 and A 46 so all was well.

We had the sad task of repacking our bags since I wanted to get them down to the airline check-in desk before breakfast the next morning.
It was 12:30am before we were done and called it a night.
That’s a wrap for our final night at WDW!

The Illuminations cruise looks incredible!! How fun!! Did you get eaten alive being on the water or were the bugs not really noticeable?

WOW! WOW!! WOW!!!

What a great recap of an amazing night!!!

Truth!!!

I have a couple of photos (not mine) of gators in the canal at a certain ocean-themed resort.

And I believe that they do have to be a certain size before they are removed by animal control.

::yes::

GORGEOUS pictures! I especially love how spooky ToT looks.

I'm not going to repost the Illuminations pictures, but they are spectacular, too!

No words.

Just :worship:

The Illuminations cruise looked wonderful. I hate the part about having to check in for your flight and pack your bags.:worried:

Your last night seemed awesome! That cruise and the view... wow....wow....wow. Now you have me wondering if I can wiggle my budget to fit this in :lmao:

It was a great experience AND bug free. I've not noticed any bugs either time we did this.

WOW! WOW!! WOW!!!

Awww thanks Dee.

So they DO exist there! Once the guy said there were gators around I was a little creeped out but then I wanted to see one. I believe Rob spotted a gator in one of the canals by the TTC.

The Illuminations cruise looked wonderful. I hate the part about having to check in for your flight and pack your bags.:worried:

Thank you, it certainly was. The highs and the lows of the day all together in one evening! ;)

Your last night seemed awesome! That cruise and the view... wow....wow....wow. Now you have me wondering if I can wiggle my budget to fit this in :lmao:

Thanks! If you go in on a boat with a group of people it can be as cheap as less than $30 pp. Snacks and drinks are included so it is even more appealing!

Sounds like a very fun night .... just being out on the water with friends much be such a good time. And glad that everyone got along with the other boats! Also, glad that girl said "yes" - otherwise that would have been super awkward!

And how cool you got back in time to see Wishes as well! The last night is always sad but to see two sets of fireworks is a good way to cap off the vacation!

Hahaha I’ll definitely make a point to seek out the dhs fun crew next trip! Lol.

And hey, I’m ALWAYS craving grilled cheese!!

I didn’t realize the cruise was a flat rate!! That makes it much more enticing! I’ll definitely be getting a group together to do that during my program, that’s for sure!It looks like a definitely magical way to end a fantastic trip/night!! And you got to witness a proposal! So fun!!

And then ANOTHER set of fireworks & water pagent! You were livin that night! Lol

Excited to read the last day and can’t wait to hear your December stories!!

It was your dining review of Crew's Cup that sent us over there for dinner - twice! It is now our favorite "impromptu" dinner location. :)

The cruise looks like the perfect place to propose. That must have been a lot of fun that night to have party central on one side and the romantic proposal on the other. :)

We saw a boat cruising Crescent Lake, looking for alligators in the HS area when we were there in March. I really wanted to see one, too, but there weren't any.

The tour is actually a really good deal! Even better if you have a large group being able to split that cost up.

Seriously, how amazing is that view. Compltely unobstructed and gorgeous!

Aw awesome that he proposed! Good job guy, putting a ring on it:thumbsup2

Wow, what an amazing final night in WDW! I loved the "peek behind the scenes" as you were driven from BLT to YC. Your photos of the Illuminations fireworks are beautiful and it looks like you just had an all-around wonderful evening! Great update! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes
