YES, touring Cinderella’s Dream Suite was Amazing!+14 Other Magical Days* Dismeet & Wrap

Haha, I may try your technique and pick a different country of residence on Spaceship Earth next time! I'd like to see myself fly to Australia.

Your commentary kills me :lmao: take that, Dame Judi!

That's really cool that you got to see Wishes through the window of Tony's! I'd like to try that restaurant someday but it always seems to get cut from my list.

Can't believe we are nearing the end of this epic TR, but I'm glad there's still more to come!

Hi Brenda! I've been catching up on your TR for a while now, I read the Admiral Suite one first and then moved on to this and I'm finally all caught up! I love reading all about yours and ems adventures! Thanks so much for sharing!
- Grace

Love this update. It reminds me of our arrival day on last trip. Elizabeth picked Tony's for dinner. Loved the fountain. (The food wasn't bad either.)
Then we also stayed for the Kiss Goodnight. I couldn't believe how empty the park got when we were there. Thanks for sharing your video!

Thanks for posting the video of the castle goodnight show. I have never seen it before.

We've eaten lunch at Tony's once and I thought the cannelloni was delicious. I think we might try it again on our night trip.

You're welcome Sue. I wish I knew how to edit video since that first part is a little rough,

After cancelling Tony's last trip I have it booked again next time since I really want that cannelloni again. And maybe I want to see a certain waiter again..

Actually just started on my report today!!

I've always wanted to see the Kiss Goodnight and haven't watched your video because I want to be surprised if we ever catch it...

This report is getting close to the end!!!

Yay! You are off to a swift start my friend with your dining review! I can see all the things I missed until we arrived. Coincidently, I started my newest DR last night.

Besides being in the MK park that late you have to be near the castle so timing is everything. It was a nice little surprise to see it.

I loved watching your video and hope to experience it in person soon. Do they hurry you along after it's over?

Thanks!

That's a good question. We were on our way out anyway so I'm not sure if they start shooing people out quickly. I know they start collapsing the photopass photographers on Main Street at a certain point to get people to move towards the exit.

Great update!

A great attraction including Ellen, Bill Nye, Stupid Judy and Dinosaurs

What is "Universe of Energy"?

Love it. The pictures you took were really good!

You're commentary on SE cracked me up!

"set for life"

:rotfl2:

Pun intended?

Gorgeous sunset shot of the MK Castle :cloud9:

Everybody- I mean Everything- looked great at Tony's. Had reservations there once, but we canceled because Nate was not feeling well. We haven't tried again.

I love scampi and Emmy's meal looked like a really good one. Nice call on the oil on the side.

The kiss goodnight video was nice, but I really like that picture of the castle with Main Street at the end of the night.

Hi Dee!

We'll just say that the pun was intended so I appear to be more clever than I'm NOT! :)

:rotfl2: Definitely a pretty man serving your food isn't a bad thing. I suppose I worked out well that we cancelled our Tony's dinner last trip with Michael accompanying me.... it could have been awkward to ask Michael to take a photo of me and Mark Anthony.

The kiss goodnight is the perfect way to close a day at the park. Kinda like we liked seeing you but now leave.

your commentary for SE had me chuckling .. who knew the Phoenicians also invented the disco ball?!?!?! Ain't no party like a Phoenician party 'cause a Phoenician party don't stop!

Thanks for posting the video of the Kiss Goodnight - love touches like that at Disney!

Ha ha Phil!!! Those Phoenicians did wear silk so you know disco was in their bag of tricks!

Certainly. Wish the video wasn't so raw but you get the idea. Disney knows how to make us keep coming back. I'm Exhibit A. :)

Looks like you and Em had a great time at BB, despite the girlfriend throwdown. I agree with you, all future conflicts should be resolved with a glass slipper. ;)

Sorry the school bread and avocado margarita were less than memorable. I'm also not a fan of the avocado marg, but have never tried the school bread. I have to admit it's not a snack that has ever called to me. I love the Cloudberry or Troll Horn and I'd like to try either the Verdens Beste or the Rullekake next time. They both sound interesting. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the video of the goodnight show, we've never seen it. :goodvibes

Hi Carol! Yes, everyone should sign their waiver and agree to the glass slipper conflict resolution terms before entering the parks. :cool2:

The Verdens Beste is on my list to try. It looks amazing. I tried the lefse and I'd eat school bread any day compared to that.

Glad to share!

Hi Brenda! Hope you're all doing really well. After a busy few months, I had to stop by the TR board to check on this thread, and to comment on the last few updates.

-Yay, you went to Blizzard Beach! :thumbsup2 Sorry to hear you didn't get to experience Summit Plummet, though. It's my favorite water park attraction, but I'll only ride it if it doesn't have a line (such as right after park opening).

-Sorry you didn't love school bread. I'm an odd duck when it comes to that snack - I really like the cardamom flavor of the pastry (and don't mind the dryness), but the custard isn't my favorite. Overall, I like school bread, but my favorite item at Kringla is definitely the rice cream.

-Still haven't made it to Tony's yet (although I did try another one of your recommendations on my most recent trip - WCC breakfast). That view of Wishes through the restaurant is pretty neat. :) Another must-do at MK: seeing the Kiss Goodnight!

Great updates, as usual. :goodvibes

Hi Mr. DDW!! So glad to see you here! I saw you did the 24 hr Disney in WDW. We did the DLR version here so I'll share a few photos shortly. I hope you had fun. Hard not to I'm sure. Glad all is well.

I remember your water park adventures last year, if I recall you had a few visits.

Here's where it's ok that you prefer heads on prawns whereas I don't... I prefer the custard in my school bread. You can be an odd duck that's ok! I'm just glad it's not me! :upsidedow

I saw your WCC breakfast on the live dining thread. It looked good -except the chicken sausage. I'm not a fan of breakfast sausage.

Glad to see you dropping by! :goodvibes

Haha, no... quite the opposite! Take your time... I can live vicariously through everyone!!!

Yeah, we got LOTS of snow this year. And I'm the only one who was happy about it!!! I saw a picture on Pinterest that showed a map of most of the country covered in snow and the caption read something like "This winter has been brought to you by Frozen".

Your comments on the Spaceship Earth photos are hilarious! Thank you for sharing the video! So cool :)

Hi Sue! I imagine you are rejoicing with each inch of snowfall whereas most people wish winter would hurry up and leave.

I get silly the later at night I update so you can usually tell by my posts how late it is.... in this case I'll probably wish I made a few edits.

What's this... an update??? YAY!!!! Ah heck I'm just gonna break out this guy... :dancer:

I will say that the "Ellen ride" is impressive in its scope. It just seems so grand, and I do enjoy the dino bit as well. Animatronic Ellen still terrifies me though.

OMG your SE commentary! :rotfl2: Bang on, on all fronts.

Hmmm, I wonder if your Mousekeeper once worked at Whispering Canyon. :scratchin SHAMPOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KISS GOODNIGHT!!!!!! I am so jeaolous right now. Absolutely beautiful.

Hey Rob! Shocking huh? I had to do something to have you break out the dancing dude.

There are some sleeper parts of the show but anything with the dinos captures my attention. The concept is good even if some of the animatronics are not stellar.

Ha ha! SHAMPOO! WCC style. That was great.:rotfl2:

I've never managed to ride the Ellen Ride (well since I was little when it wasn't Ellen) as it's always been shut so I'm hoping it'll be open on my next trip as 45 mins of a/c sounds great :)

I love that you got to see the Kiss Goodnight, that's on my daughters wish list too!

Hi Jo! It took us about 5 or more Disney trips to finally see the Ellen attraction. Even now it is rather dated with the pre-show but I enjoy it. And you can't beat 45 minutes of a/c relaxation if you can fit it into your plans.

The kiss goodnight was a wonderful way to end the day.

Just read that you were in Disney the first part of May. We we there May 5-10

Hi Debbie! I was! We left on the 9th so it looks like we have some overlap. Hope you enjoyed your trip. :)

Haha, I may try your technique and pick a different country of residence on Spaceship Earth next time! I'd like to see myself fly to Australia.

Your commentary kills me :lmao: take that, Dame Judi!

Can't believe we are nearing the end of this epic TR, but I'm glad there's still more to come!

Hi Courtney! Flying over the ocean to "go home" on the building your future for SE just seems like the thing to do now. I tried to see how far we could go last time and I forget where I ended up.

Ha ha! Dame Judi rules. I probably was insolent with my commentary! :rolleyes1

I had no idea that you would be able to see higher up fireworks in the solarium room so that was a nice touch. We didn't need candle light for our meal, we had the glow of Wishes!

Thanks. Definitely more to come in the next TRs... time is a commodity right now. You know how that goes.

Hi Brenda! I've been catching up on your TR for a while now, I read the Admiral Suite one first and then moved on to this and I'm finally all caught up! I love reading all about yours and ems adventures! Thanks so much for sharing!
- Grace

Hi Grace, Thank you for reading along and letting me know you are here. I'm so glad you are joining. :) I enjoy sharing so thank you for making it worthwhile.

Thanks Sandy! Tony's is a great first day option since you are IN the park.

I'm glad to share the video. It was a nice little surprise to end our day.

Loved the update.
A little Ellen is an awesome way to cool off (and nap)! ;) It has a "Disney smell" in there too. Just one of those things that seem to stick with a person. (well, maybe a Disney loving person)

Your housekeeper sure did give you a bunch of "samples". :rotfl: My stock here is running low. I must be in need of another trip. :rolleyes1 I love to break those out for use when I am missing Disney, and knowing I won't be back for a while, I am trying to ration them out.

The "Kiss Goodnight"! Thanks for the video. We did see it this year, but didn't video it.

Of course, there is a WDW commercial on TV right now! Advertising their 30% off. :sad2:

Can't wait to see where you head next.

Hey Brenda
Love the latest update
You commentary of SE had me giggling away
We tried Tony's for the first time in December and really enjoyed it :goodvibes
Signing off for a while now as we are heading back to Orlando this week
See ya soon :goodvibes

Rock Your Disney Side - 24 Hour Party - Friday May 23 - Sat. May 24, 2014

Before my next TR update I wanted to insert a quick intermission for the 24 hour party we (hubby, Michael and I) attended last Friday at Disneyland Resort/California Adventure.

DSCN7902.jpg

We attended the 24 hour Leap Day party a couple years ago and it was CRAZY with a 45 minute wait just to get into the park. This year Disney expanded the party to both Disneyland and California Adventure which spread out the crowds. I wasn't planning to attend since it was during a holiday weekend so we knew crowd levels could put this as a repeat of a couple years ago and that's no fun.

On Friday at 6am the party started. While I was thinking of all the people streaming into the park I was getting ready for my work day... no thoughts of attending but a little regret that we'd miss it this year. However, Em and her fiancé decided to go and asked us to join so we decided to head there and see if it was worth it or not. We didn't decide until noon on Friday that we would actually attend and we didn't actually get there until 4pm. So this is an abbreviated version of the party since we were not there for the entire 24 hours.

And we were not there until 6am the next day either....we wouldn't have been able to stay up that long and us old folks prefer the comfort of our bed rather than catching a cat nap in the Animation Building at DCA.

I loved the dress as your favorite character aspect of the party. We saw some ingenious costumes and some very clever theming.

This will be a long day for some. The parking attendants were very animated and friendly. I think they'd had some caffeine already at that point.
DSCN7789.jpg

DSCN7800.jpg

Completely different esplanade compared to the last Leap Day 24 hour party. You can see concrete here!
DSCN7802.jpg

They were promoting Maleficient. Everyone was presented with a button upon entry.

DSCN7810.jpg

DSCN7813.jpg

And our first official order of business... eating. Plaza Inn had a 24 hour special - Chicken and Waffles. Exciting stuff if you are a Mickey waffle lover like me. They were ok... probably sat a little long in the warming tray but seeing as how I've not had a Mickey waffle INSIDE Disneyland this was epic!

DSCN7824.jpg

DSCN7829.jpg

We did a few rides while there... they had special late night parades and character events. We waited about 25 minutes for Pirates so it wasn't too bad.

DSCN7839.jpg

There were even some "pirates and their wenches" in line. They had awesome costumes.

DSCN7851.jpg

More great character costumes...
DSCN7904.jpg

Next we moved on over to California Adventure since we were meeting up with an old friend.

to be continued....Part 2 of Rock your Disney Side 24 Hour Party.

Rock Your Disney Side - 24 Hour Party - Part 2

This is the California Adventure part of the 24 hour party....

Photo op with Walk and Mickey:
DSCN7913.jpg

As we were discussing what to do next with the kids, a Disney cop showed up and asked me to step his way. He asked if I had been good. What kind of question is that? Of course I've been good. I backed it up with a dazzling smile!! He went ahead and cited me anyway. But it's all good. It was for "arresting expression of emancipated exuberance" and "abiding to commitment to Operation Beautification"

DSCN7915.jpg

10313821_793242357366189_8384550904165826441_n1.jpg

While we were all still together I wanted a photo with the kids. They were heading in a different direction...
DSCN7916.jpg

Because we were headed to meet up with a friend and his wife for cocktails at Al Fresco Lounge in DCA. This is a lovely terrace above the winery.

A little incentive to keep going with the 24 hour thing...

10300166_795284417161983_2066633186368774898_n1.jpg

We ended up chatting for quite awhile so by the time we moved on we noticed that some of the crowd was definitely starting to wilt and show their sleepy side. You could tell those that had been at is since 6am versus those who had just arrived and were in their jammies.

This was a popular photo op location:
DSCN7922.jpg

DSCN7923.jpg

We stopped by the Mad Tea Party for a little while.... there was a whole lot of fun and dancing going on here. My photos are all blurry so we'll move on...

Looking down Hollywood Blvd.
DSCN7924.jpg

Our next stop was the Animation Building otherwise known as the "rest room" Not to be confused with the other place to take a break. This was the perfect place for some down time in a dark, although not necessarily quiet place. Many others had the same idea. We had perfect timing and were able to snag a couch but most people were on the floor. Some CMs were telling people they couldn't lay down on the ground while others ignored those who wanted a quick snooze.

DSCN7926.jpg

DSCN7929.jpg

DSCN7936.jpg

Here's what we looked like at midnight
DSCN7935.jpg

We went to grab some snacks at one of the kiosks and we ran into this young couple on the way. Emily and Jordan were still wide awake and enjoying the late night. It was after midnight and I was really tired at that point and wouldn't have even seen my own kid if I hadn't noticed Michael giving some gal a hug, Oh, that's my kid.

DSCN7943.jpg

We grabbed some fruit from Mortimer's snack stand.

Soon after midnight we were done. Although not at the park that long, I'd had a long day at work before we arrived for the 24 hour party. I know, excuses, excuses.

We noticed that DL seemed to be more crowded than DCA but when we left the crowds coming into DCA seemed to swell. I have to say again how nice it was that both parks were open 24 hours this time. Although DCA had a sign that said subject to change.

Here's my last photo looking across the esplanade towards DL
DSCN7950.jpg

One other note I forgot to include in my DL portion of the 24 hour party. They had the area in front of the castle set up for the 24 hour event and had big screens and a DJ. He was doing hourly shout outs so at 6pm they declared the party half over and everyone cheered. I would have loved to have been over there a midnight for the final 6 hour count-down.
DSCN7834.jpg

DSCN7833.jpg

When we left the parking area there was a long line of cars still waiting to come into the parking structure. People were intent on partying all night long!

This was definitely a fun event! Just bring your chargers (it is surprising the secret outlet locations around the parks - even the light poles had outlets - who would have known? :confused3) your jammies, and a lot of patience for the crowds!

Thanks for letting me share how we kinda Rocked our Disney Side - 8 hour style!!!

Continued Next Post .... End Detour: back to the trip report

I was determined to catch up on one or two TR's before I left, and I got lucky and caught two of yours.

A little "Stupid Judy" is always good for a hot day and to relax the feet (I actually don't mind the ride either).

Love the picture of you and Em with the waiter at Tony's. What is his name again? We are eating there next week.

Thanks for the video; I've not seen the castle show in three trips now and am determined to catch it this trip or in September with Mark.

I'm so glad you and Michael got to do the 24 hour party, and that you saw Em and her fiance while there. And a reunion is always nice.

Love the waffle and chicken plate. :goodvibes

thanks for posting this update - I definitely want to make it to a 24-hour party one of these years. Glad that it wasn't so crowded and seemed that opening both parks helped a lot ... wonder if they will start to do that at WDW as well

Funny that one of the first things I took away from this update was "wow, I didn't realize Emily's Fiancee was so tall!" :rotfl:

That chicken and waffles looks rather tasty - too bad the waffles weren't fresher. While you did enjoy them I bet they tasted phenomenal at like 4 in the morning :goodvibes

Loved the update.

I know what you mean about the Disney smell! Em and I were at the mall this weekend and I stopped her and asked what does that store smell like to you? It smelled like the Yacht Club!! Smell is such a strong sensory perception that sticks with you.

No kidding! I just asked for some extra since they seemed stingy with restocking. You know it time for another trip when you run out right?

Just standing anywhere near the castle and taking in that kiss goodnight is special! I missed it this last trip and was a little disappointed.

Sometimes you feel like Disney should just stop rubbing in the fact that another trip isn't in the works. They need to be more sensitive! ;)

Hey Brenda
Love the latest update

See ya soon :goodvibes

Enjoy your trip Linda! bon voyage!

Glad you enjoyed Tony's. I know it's hit or miss with the food for many.

Lovely to get a peak at your 24 hour visit.
Guess I'll be seeing you in person in January!
http://www.rundisney.com/star-wars-half-marathon/

Hi Alysa! I'm glad to share the party happenings!

I don't think I've ever been so excited to see someone register for a run Disney event! I'm looking forward to it! We'll make plans. :)

I was determined to catch up on one or two TR's before I left, and I got lucky and caught two of yours.

Hi Kathy! I've read through the latest updates for your PTR but not had time to comment... I will make it back and correct that shortly. :)

I love the pre-show but the actual Ellen's Energy show is very entertaining. Dated, but entertaining. I don't mind relaxation for 45 minutes especially in the middle of summer.

Mark Anthony! Remember that name - it may come in useful should you ever want to have a waiter that is easy on the eyes. ;)

The party was a lot of fun even though we didn't last all night long. I was glad that Em and her fiancé encouraged us to tag along.

thanks for posting this update - I definitely want to make it to a 24-hour party one of these years. Glad that it wasn't so crowded and seemed that opening both parks helped a lot ... wonder if they will start to do that at WDW as well

Hi Phil! Certainly, I'm glad to have shared. I was very relieved when the parking structure line wasn't down the street and parking was available with no problem. Wasn't Epcot also open for 24 hours or was that last time??

Yes, Em's guy is very tall. Em's like me, we're 5'2" so put that in perspective with her fiancé who is 6'4" I believe,

They definitely could have had fresher waffles but I didn't leave any behind so they couldn't have been that bad. I'm sure it was a popular entrée all the way through the night. ;)

Oh Lordy the Leap Day Party. Crazy INDEED!!!! This seemed to be MUCH better. I still can't figure it out though. Friday before a May long weekend vs a Wednesday in February, and the Wednesday in February was Crazy-Nuts.

OK, that's cool (and smart) that they opened both parks. That would have REALLY helped in 2012.

A Good Behaviour Citation... Brenda, I'm a little disappointed, lol.

I'll have to assume all the items listed are good behaviour since they completely go over my head. I guess I don't read "Intelligent".

Haha, and there is the "almost missed my kid" story. :thumbsup2

Oy, I so wish I had a Disney park in my backyard so I can go to these things more often. Although I did just re-up my AP, so I guess I better start planning some trips. :hyper:

I love Spaceship Earth and Ellen's. They're both so classic in my mind and the perfect respite from walking around World Showcase a lot!

The 24 Hour party looks like a lot of fun! I'd love to make it out to DL/DCA some day. We keep saying "when the kids are bigger"--They'll be full grown by the time we get around to it!! I'd guess my husband and I would be along the lines of you and Michael and call it quits before the end. 24 hours (especially in the sun and on my feet) is a long time!!!

Those 24 hour parties look like so much fun! Good idea that both parks were open this time. Is there an extra charge for it like the Christmas and Halloween parties at WDW?

You are so lucky to live so close to DL!

I'm tired just thinking about a 24 hour party! I swear since I got back I am falling asleep in front of the tv every night and it's not past my bedtime!

Love the fireworks through the ceiling, that's fun!

I have get to go on Ellen. Don't see it happening next trip either!

Brenda we had a great time. We stayed at AK Kidani in a savannah view studio. We also bought DVC while we were there.

Loved the near perfect weather also.

I thought for sure the 24-hour party was going to be packed or I would have driven down! Oh well! Glad you had fun!! And the chicken and waffles! I've been craving them lol.

Yay!!! So happy you all made it to Rock your Disney side! I'm so jealous that you can decide at 12pm to head for Disney in a matter of hours...

During that 24 hour event I kept thinking to myself (from home of course) that I'm not sure how committed I'd be to 24 straight hours... It might ruin me for days to come and nobody can afford to do that on vacation! :rotfl: buuuut.... Had I actually been there I may have been unable to resist the temptation! ;)

Thanks for taking an intermission from your August report to update us on DL and DCA! :thumbsup2
