YES, touring Cinderella’s Dream Suite was Amazing!+14 Other Magical Days* Dismeet & Wrap

You covered so much that I want to do!! Our lists must've been very similar!

1. BB is going to be our first water park IF we make it this next trip. (I'm worried about November weather.)

2. I am dying to try Schoolbread! I enjoyed your unbiased review, because other peoples expectations do build it up pretty high.

3. I HAD been wanting to try an Avocado Marg but I no longer do. First, I read someone say it was like drinking a salad. And then you said it was too sweet, which just wouldn't do. I think I'll let La Cava woo with me with the traditional before I get too exotic.

The 24 Hour event looks so fun!! Except I kicked myself all day because I missed EVERYTHING (fireworks, parades) on the live feed in WDW by about an hour. And then I read about the DL feed showing World of Color about a half hour I missed that. I was totally kicking myself because I completely forgot about DL!

One day I'd love to get to a 24 hour event. Until they do one in the summer, I'll just keep reading about other people's fun! And all these DL pics make me miss DL again. I really need to win the lottery so I can get to DL and WDW more often! ;)

I really wanted to go to the party in Florida but couldn't swing it financially. That's so awesome that you were able to decide day of and then just head over!

Mmmmmm Mickey waffles and chicken. That looks delicious.

Those costumes are so realistic I wondered if Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins were face characters!!

I LOVE the good behavior citation!! Too funny.

The Animation building is my FAVORITE. I spent so much time there on my Disneyland trip. It seems like a really nice place to rest for the 24 hour day.

Okay, I'll admit, I'm impressed you participated in the 24 hour event for a whole 8 hours. To hit up 2 parks after a full day at work, knowing the locations were going to be crowded and hectic...hands down to you for going! :thumbsup2
It might be the mom-of-a-toddler part of me speaking, but I might have opted for sleep. :rotfl2:

That being said...I did enjoy seeing all your pictures and reading about the special sightings that were happening in DCA and DL. I feel like I live vicariously through your Disneyland posts. :goodvibes
How long did Em make it to?

I was watching all the Facebook updates from all the people at the 24 hour parties, what a great night at both ends of the country!
Some of the costumes people had were really incredible. I love that everyone was encouraged to dress up, that's fun.
Chicken and waffles sounds delicious!
I love the giant clock photo op, that's too cute.
Looks like a really wonderful time!! I'm not sure I could have stayed up that late, my bedtime is 9:30. :lmao:

Another fan of UofE - especially for the A/C and relaxation!!!

**loved** the Kiss Goodnight video!!! I am so looking forward to seeing that.

I was envious of anyone going to any park for the 24-hour event. And any time in Disney (1 hour, 8 hours, or 24) is always a magical time!

Really enjoy reading this trip report. Your style of writing makes me feel like I'm on the trip with you.

Your 13th day seemed to wrap up nicely! :thumbsup2 Eating at Tony's has been on my list off and on every trip, just can't seem to do it. The ratings always scare me off. :scared:

I love Epcot, but I find if I don't have a list of things I want to accomplish over there, I just become overwhelmed and not end up doing near what I wanted to do while planning the trip. :rolleyes2 Go figure! :rotfl:

Since Tyler wants to make Epcot our place of destination for a large portion of the trip, I guess I'm gonna have to make an effort to make it a place of not just hitting the shops, drinks and eats. Oh, who am I kidding?!? Those are the things I love the most in EPCOT!

To be honest, I had not seen all the countries until this last trip. I finally got to see China, and not just a few quick parts, I actually spent some time there and I actually got to see some of Japan, and not just the big store. :lovestruc Although, I will say....it happened to be another store or apart of the main store that I hadn't seen before, one of the two! :rotfl:
One thing Mackie loves to do when in Disney is....SHOP!! That girl will spend at least an hour or more in some of those shops. :faint: Which is rather funny since she hates to shop when at home. Now figure that out?!? :rolleyes2  I have to drag her to go shopping with me at home, at Disney.....I have to drag her out of the shops! :rotfl:

Oh well, it's all in how we love to vacation I guess. :goodvibes

Your DL 24 hour adventure seemed pretty reasonable to me, us older folk need our sleep! Then again I'm a night owl so who knows what I'd be able to pull off. I certainly wouldn't have been there from the start, I may be a night owl but I am NOT a morning person, unless I'm in WDW. :goodvibes I know that sounds crazy, but I don't question it, I just go with it.
I'm not there to sleep and staying up late isn't an option when you get up early to make rope drop, it just works!! :)

Oh Lordy the Leap Day Party. Crazy INDEED!!!! This seemed to be MUCH better. I still can't figure it out though. Friday before a May long weekend vs a Wednesday in February, and the Wednesday in February was Crazy-Nuts.

OK, that's cool (and smart) that they opened both parks. That would have REALLY helped in 2012.

A Good Behaviour Citation... Brenda, I'm a little disappointed, lol.

I'll have to assume all the items listed are good behaviour since they completely go over my head. I guess I don't read "Intelligent".

Haha, and there is the "almost missed my kid" story. :thumbsup2

Oy, I so wish I had a Disney park in my backyard so I can go to these things more often. Although I did just re-up my AP, so I guess I better start planning some trips. :hyper:

:cheer2::dance3: That's in honor of renewing your AP!!! Exciting stuff!

Disney certainly planned smarter this year with opening both parks for the 24 hour party. I honestly wasn't interested in attending since it was a holiday Friday and the chances of the park reaching capacity were high. Glad I was wrong.

I would rather be cited by a Disney cop for exhibiting exuberance than the next 'victim' who was cited for "sleeping" on a park bench. He was hilarious. I have video on my phone that I need to download.

Yep, this time the kid was passing not even 10 feet from me. Goodness. I need glasses.

And may I be one of the first dozen or more people to encourage you to book another trip since we'll need more DisneyKid4Life Trip Reports! :thumbsup2

I love Spaceship Earth and Ellen's. They're both so classic in my mind and the perfect respite from walking around World Showcase a lot!

The 24 Hour party looks like a lot of fun! I'd love to make it out to DL/DCA some day. We keep saying "when the kids are bigger"--They'll be full grown by the time we get around to it!! I'd guess my husband and I would be along the lines of you and Michael and call it quits before the end. 24 hours (especially in the sun and on my feet) is a long time!!!

Hi Jillian! Those rides are dark, cool, and you can sit down for a long period of time. What's not to like? :)

We definitely did the "touring light" version of the 24 hour party since there's no way we could have lasted all night. It was fun to be a part of the event.

Those 24 hour parties look like so much fun! Good idea that both parks were open this time. Is there an extra charge for it like the Christmas and Halloween parties at WDW?

You are so lucky to live so close to DL!

Definitely it was a good thing both parks were open. Not sure we would have hung around long if it was crazy like a couple years ago.

It is not a hard ticket party so anyone with a ticket or pass is welcome. In fact, most everyone attending the event is a passholder - same as last time. The majority of DLR park goers have some type of AP. :)

I'm tired just thinking about a 24 hour party! I swear since I got back I am falling asleep in front of the tv every night and it's not past my bedtime!

Love the fireworks through the ceiling, that's fun!

I have get to go on Ellen. Don't see it happening next trip either!

Hi Cynthia and welcome back! Too much fun at WDW huh?

Those fireworks added to the dining ambiance! If they had added the Wishes soundtrack that would have been a nice touch.

Brenda we had a great time. We stayed at AK Kidani in a savannah view studio. We also bought DVC while we were there.

Loved the near perfect weather also.

Congratulations on being a new DVC owner!! That's exciting. Now to plan that first trip on points right? Did you buy into VGF? Are there other initial contracts being sold at other resorts?

I loved the 1 bedroom villa that we stayed in at Jambo. I just love, love, love AKV/AKL.

And great weather on top of that - sounds perfect.

I thought for sure the 24-hour party was going to be packed or I would have driven down! Oh well! Glad you had fun!! And the chicken and waffles! I've been craving them lol.

Me too Paula! We decided to go around noon when Em said they were going... I had to see if Michael was interested. If he wasn't I wasn't going to go solo.

The chicken was great. The waffles could have had a little improvement. But I ate them all so they couldn't have been that bad!

Yay!!! So happy you all made it to Rock your Disney side! I'm so jealous that you can decide at 12pm to head for Disney in a matter of hours...

During that 24 hour event I kept thinking to myself (from home of course) that I'm not sure how committed I'd be to 24 straight hours... It might ruin me for days to come and nobody can afford to do that on vacation! :rotfl: buuuut.... Had I actually been there I may have been unable to resist the temptation! ;)

Thanks for taking an intermission from your August report to update us on DL and DCA! :thumbsup2

The drawback of being an AP holder is that we tend to overlook a lot of the local culture and happenings and focus too much on Disney. People even dare say that we are Disney obsessed.

I'm with you. I wondered how many people who attended all night were still sleeping at 3 in the afternoon. It would mess their sleep schedule up for days to come.

You covered so much that I want to do!! Our lists must've been very similar!

1. BB is going to be our first water park IF we make it this next trip. (I'm worried about November weather.)

Ahhh your first DVC trip is in November! How exciting!

I've not traveled in Nov so not sure if it is still nice and warm. In early December it was still in the 80's most days last year.

There is a lot of hype for the school bread but if you like custard and coconut give it a try. I'm glad tastes are unique to everyone since if everyone like those carrot cake cookies there may not be any left for me!

I wasn't a fan of the avocado version of the margarita but it does have its fans. I just looked up the recipe on the Disney food blog here and the main reason I don't like it is the midori liquor. It also has agave in it which is too sweet for me.

Ha ha! Your timing was just off. It would have been really cool to see the 3am World of Color show. :)

One day I'd love to get to a 24 hour event. Until they do one in the summer, I'll just keep reading about other people's fun! And all these DL pics make me miss DL again. I really need to win the lottery so I can get to DL and WDW more often! ;)

With the school year it would be hard to do - especially if you factor in travel. (You're a teacher right??)

I hear ya! Winning the lottery would = never ending Dis planning for that next trip. At least you have fabulous DL photos that can serve as a incentive to plan that next trip. :thumbsup2

I really wanted to go to the party in Florida but couldn't swing it financially. That's so awesome that you were able to decide day of and then just head over!

Mmmmmm Mickey waffles and chicken. That looks delicious.

The Animation building is my FAVORITE. I spent so much time there on my Disneyland trip. It seems like a really nice place to rest for the 24 hour day.

At least one positive thing about living in Southern California is that DL is in our backyard. We are rather spoiled to live so close. We can even hear the fireworks some nights.

Plaza Inn fried chicken is awesome. Throw in a few waffles and even better.

My first thought with those park guests dressed very realistically as Disney characters is they were not going to get anything done since people will want to pose with them all night long. I wonder if Disney wanted to tap them on the shoulder and tell them they were a little too realistic. :confused3 The guy who was dressed as Carl we saw later at DCA and he was still getting a lot of attention.

The Disney cop was hilarious. He said he was going to throw the book at me - catch! :rotfl:

The DCA Animation Building is my favorite place in the entire park. It takes awhile to cycle through all the videos so you may as well sit awhile. The whole audio and visual aspect is so well done.

Hi Brenda! I've been staying away from the DIS lately with no trip planned, but I just caught up on your TR. Looks like a great time at Blizzard Beach. We've never been to that water park, but we do enjoy Typhoon Lagoon every once in a great while. I had no idea there were PP at the water parks though... Not sure I'd want a pic of me in my bathing suit! Haha.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the school bread more. It's usually one of my go-to snacks while in Epcot. But at least you can cross that and the margarita off your list.

The 24 hour event at DL and DCA looked really fun! Thanks for posting about your time there. And now I really should get back to bed since it's 3am ET

How long did Em make it to?

Heck, I'm old so 8 hours probably was equivalent to 16. Let's be honest, there's no way I could stay up all night. You young ones are more likely to do that. However, being the mom of a toddler it looks like you know the value of sleep.

We were surprised to see Em come home around 2am. Thought they'd stay longer but they were pooped.

I was watching all the Facebook updates from all the people at the 24 hour parties, what a great night at both ends of the country!

Looks like a really wonderful time!! I'm not sure I could have stayed up that late, my bedtime is 9:30. :lmao:

I was messaging a couple Disers that night who were at WDW. Being 3 hours ahead of us it was fun to ask if they were hanging in there after midnight ET. I didn't see any of the webcams though.

There were a lot of costumes at the DL party. I was impressed with the participation. Not sure if the WDW parties had a lot of costumes too... were there??

Chicken and waffles served 24 hours was very popular!

Hi Danielle! If completely relaxed in the dark and the a/c it may result in a little cat nap on that ride. Not that I would know...:rolleyes2

That was a great moment to see the kiss goodnight. It is such a fitting end to a day at MK.

I agree, any moments at Disney are worthy of building great memories. Even if for a short time.

Really enjoy reading this trip report. Your style of writing makes me feel like I'm on the trip with you.

Hi there LostBoy! Thank you. I'm glad that you are reading. :) If you feel like you are there with us would you hold our place in line for the Mine Train? We'll be right back!

Seriously though, thanks for joining.

I'm not there to sleep and staying up late isn't an option when you get up early to make rope drop, it just works!! :)

Tony's has had some mixed reviews and certainly I wouldn't rave about my last meal there but it was just a salad. I have had several really great experiences so I'm not scared to return.

More often on our last trip we were eating, drinking or shopping at Epcot. We didn't repeat any rides other than I think SE. And we didn't even make it to Figment. Oh darn! Not!

Mackie sounds like she shows her Disney side with the shopping at WDW. It must have some special attraction and sucks you in!

The motivation to get up early and hit rope drop while on vacation at WDW has its rewards for sure - even if you're not a morning person.

If I'd have been on vacation and tempted to tackle the 24 hour party I think I would have justified staying longer. 8 hours was more than enough for us. Especially considering I'd worked a full day since 7am. :)

Thursday August 29, 2013: Day 14, Part 1

For our last full day at WDW dawned beautiful and glorious as evidenced by the following photos of sunrise over Bay Lake.

DSCN1907.jpg

DSCN1916.jpg

DSCN1954.jpg

I never grow tired of that view and this particular morning I sat out on the balcony exactly 43 minutes watching the sun successfully rise. God did a great job there!

Being our last full day we planned to be in MK in the morning, DHS in the afternoon, and a quick stop at Epcot before heading back to the resort. That evening we had plans to have dinner with our friend Dean and his wife Linda and then do the Illuminations cruise with them. This was the rebooked cruise that I had made following our weather cancelled cruise earlier in the trip with several other DISers.

MK had EMH starting at 8am so our plan was to head that way and figure out what we wanted to do as far as breakfast. This was the only morning of our two week trip for which we had no breakfast reservations.

Before leaving the room I had a quick note that I wanted to write to mousekeeping….

DSCN1960.jpg

Because of the pile they had left the day before....
DSCN1959.jpg

We walked over to MK and had successfully got a green light from the MB sensor and were inside the park by 8:02am Correction, make that one of us was through the ‘gate’… it appears that Em’s MB wasn’t working yet again. I have a photo of the CM calling for a CM to assist. She had to dig out her AP AND her driver’s license. What a PITA. We didn't have any MB issues for our December trip so my whining may have worked.

What to do first? A photopass photo sounded good while we figured out what our plan of action would be.
DSCN1977.jpg

At town square we saw adorable Marie with no line so we went in for the hugs and kitty poses.

DSCN1990.jpg

DSCN1989.jpg

Since we were right there where the pumpkin decorations were at the foot of Main Street we posed there as well. I remember Cynthia posing here with her cute orange top right in this spot. I may not be as color coordinated with the holiday but I was glad to be able to see the seasonal decorations.

DSCN1994.jpg

We briefly paid our respects to the dedication plaque. A big moment in Disney history with the dedication of the MK park.
DSCN1993.jpg

On Main Street we saw Cast Member Barb so paused to chat and pose for more photos. She was going to make Em a sticker sash. She shared that she has enjoyed having the best job in the world for over 30 years. 30 years sounded like much too long to work at WDW for this ever exuberant and youthful CM. However, she showed us her 30 year ring to prove her tenure. I know so many people are familiar with this special lady – especially since she is now featured on the DME welcome video. Our first contact with Barb was captured here…during our moment as Grand Marshals for the parade in August 2010.

Stopping here since it is late and I'm pooped and anything that I write may run the risk of not making much sense.

Continued Next Post....

Great update!! I think we would have a great time at the parks without the guys lol. Hunter doesn't want to do any of the character stuff so I've been nice and not forced it.

What a beautiful sunrise!! Awesome view!

I love your sunrise view from BLT. That would be the view I would want, too. I love watching sunrises and sunsets while on vacation. :goodvibes

I'm really surprised to see that MK was decorated for Halloween on August 29th. Wasn't that pushing it a bit? :confused3

Gorgeous sunrise, what a great way to start your last full day. :goodvibes I am sooo hoping I can meet Barb on my next trip... she sure seems like a special, special lady. :goodvibes

Beautiful sunrise pictures! It must have been so peaceful sitting out on that balcony, waiting for the day to begin. Can't think of a better way to start your last full Disney day. :goodvibes

It did seem like the MB issues were less frequent now that the roll out has begun. I'm sure by our next trip, it will be even smoother. (Hopefully.:rotfl:)

Beautiful sunrise photos!

You had mousekeeper of the year cleaning your room!

Gotta love Barb!

Ahhh, watching the sunrise from anywhere in Disney World is so beautiful. :goodvibes

I don't think I've actually spoken with Barb although I've seen her along Main Street quite frequently. Usually dancing or laughing with another guest. :thumbsup2

There is nothing better than watching the sunrise in Disney!!!
Great start to your day. Fun, running into Barb. I remember seeing her getting the crowd revved up before a parade one afternoon. She danced her heart out and was so much fun.
We were also in Epcot this afternoon and into the evening. :faint:

Thanks for the 24 hour DL intermission!! Looks like fun!!

Nice start to the day. 13 days of breakfast reservations...WOW! Breakfast's at WDW are great though!
