Just got off the phone with MS and was told that I could definitely upgrade my AP (which I just paid $403 for w/out the discount) to a PAP (which will only be about $406 with the discount - a few dollars difference) after 1/2/05 - she said just be sure and bring my receipt with me - so for those of us crossing over the new year with activated APs, at least we'll get some advantage to the discounts for next year! :smooth:

Moderators: I'm posting this info on both forums, OK?

You mean the receipt from when we paid for the AP? Can we do this without a receipt?

What if you don't have your reciept. I'm not sure if I still have the reciept for September when we purchased our APs. I'll look when I get home. Will they still upgrade? They know when it was purchased because of when it expires, don't they?

WOW that's great news! I emailed MS about this the day they announced the discounts & have yet to hear still (not surprised). That now means that we can upgrade to PAPs during our October trip for $9 total! FANTASTIC! That's less than the cost of going to a waterpark for a day (WAY LESS) for one person!

Good news, but I don't have my original receipt since I already activated my AP in September. Surely the pass is "proof" enough?

I have upgraded in the past without a receipt. They can see on line what you paid and when so I would think that would work.

That's great. We are going again in May for our 25th anniversary, and I'd love to upgrade to PAP to enjoy other amenities since we'll be there for 10 days and will have time to visit water parks and stuff. I'll keep my fingers crossed and try when we check in (that's when you do it, right?) Or, so we need to go to Guest services?

You'll need to go to one of the Guest Services locations at one of the major parks or DTD. Make sure you have all your picture ID's for every member in your party, and your Blue membership card.

This is very cool. Now I'll have to go find out what type of "Credit" I'll get. My AP is a free one from doing the add on at SSR. Hopefully, I'll get full credit.

I also posted this on DVC Community Forum and several posters are saying that you don't need the receipt, that the payment info is in the computers (she just asked me if I had my receipt and told me to bring it with me) -

LeftCoaster - If the AP was free I don't know if they'll do an upgrade, she made it sound as if the amount I actually paid for my AP was very important and would be what was deducted from the price of the PAP - I would double check - you can never be too sure of the rules  .

Anyone calling MS for anything ? Maybe you could also ask them this question and make sure we're getting consistent info - she did actually read me a 'pre-printed' version of my question and the answer on her screen - always good to get another confirmation at this stage of the game !! :smooth:

Is there a Guest Services at the International Gateway entrance to Epcot?

This is great news..does anyone know if the upgrade expires the same date as the AP expires or do you get a year from when the upgrade is done?

Normally the upgrade is retroactive to the issue date of the original pass. And the fees are not prorated.

BTW, you might want to cut out one of those countdowns before the sig police get you. Forum rules limit us to two countdowns per signature. ;)

Some of you mentioned prices in your posts, and I went out to Allearsnet to find out what it would end up costing our family to upgrade. Here are the numbers Deb has posted:

Full price adult AP: $403.64
Discounted adult PAP: $398.31

Full price child AP: $342.93
Discounted child PAP: $338.67

Looks like Disney owes US money when we upgrade. :) I'm not holding my breath on that one, but it just saved us at least $80 on waterpark tickets next spring, and we'll probably pop over to DisneyQuest a couple times, too!!!

Does anyone know how much Disney determines the price difference between AP and PAP. I bought our APs (not activated yet) in 12/03 before a price increase. Would they look at what I paid then and the current PAP price, then apply the discount. If so, I will be paying much more than $3 per AP upgrade. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you'l get a credit on the price actually paid for the pass you want to upgrade. That price will be added to the discount and deducted from the current cost of a new pass.
