I thought I read on here have annoyed everyone was that there was not much discount for YES tickets anymore. But it looks like a 5 day hopper YES ticket is 208 and a regular ticket is 285. How is that not a discount? Am I missing something? Thanks :)

I can't find the pricing on the new website without registering for a class.

But it does say this:
"* This ticket pricing is applicable only to the student(s) participating in the Individual Enrollment – Disney Youth Education Series Program. For Chaperone (required on the program with students ages 12 and younger) and Family pricing please continue into the ticket store through the Ready to Order button below."

In the past, the pricing was the same for everyone in your family.

ohhhhhhhhhh, so chaperones have to pay full price????

Yes, chaperones have another price and additional adults in the same family, but not attending as chaperones have yet another price.

Also, I think a lot of it is in comparison to what the prices used to be. And the prices just went up recently, so kinda sticker shock too

This is also a big difference if you have other children who can't get into a class.

Last trip, all three of my kids did a class but there was only one option for the ages of my younger two during the entire month. If we had to go different dates, only my oldest would have been able to take a class.

Under the old system, we still would all have been able to get the same discounted tickets whether the younger two and I did a class or not.

I am not sure what the exact prices are now, but you are correct it is still a discount. However, our tickets YES tickets last year were almost $800 cheaper than regular price. If we were to do it again this year we certainly wouldn't save anywhere near that. That's why you've seen all the upset posts.

My understanding is that if you join a group and don't do IND enrollment, chaperones will get the discount. It is only the IND enrollment that is affected.

Yes, but nearly everyone here on the budget board was doing Individual Enrollment and getting the discount for their families, not traveling with a school/club/etc group.

I would love for my grandson to take a few of the classes because some of them look very interesting, but we both have AP's since I own at DVC and we visit at least twice a year.
It is crazy for me to pay what they want for tickets since I don't need any. I wish they would offer the classes without tickets.

Right, but if you can attach to a group, all the better.

We have opted for IND enrollment for the past 2 years, but will be looking at changing our plans and going with a group this year.

That sounds like fun.

We live in a very poor/rural area and most families here will likely never go on vacation. The chance of a school/club trip to Disney is basically non-existant so I.E. is our only opportunity to participate in these classes.

I was looking at these again for our trip in February -- but more likely our trip next February. The problem is we're in wdw for a competition and have to buy our tickets through them...I don't want and can't use another 3 day pass (which is the minimum you can get).

I wonder if there is a way we could organize ourselves to make a group for next year??

I still think it's a decent discount, our family of 5 will save nearly $500 this summer, and beats other small discounts that are available. We did the program 2 years ago and saved around $900, so it isn't as great as it WAS, but I'm still pleased with it. The main difference is that in the past, all members of the party could get the steep discount and now only the children attending the class can. Still a good thing in my book.

We saved almost $500 last September on 6-day basic tickets. This year, the savings would be barely over $100. SO not worth it for tickets you cannot change or use if for some reason you must cancel your trip. Some are still reporting great savings and I guess it's b/c they use more premium tickets than us. I will say, we did enjoy the class and I'm glad we had the opportunity to do it :goodvibes

Just re-figured our ticket prices to see if I missed something the first time. YES tix would be $1281.51 and UT would be $1434.55 so a difference of about $153.

So dneed a chaperone for the class or can they do the class on their own with me meeting them at the end of the program? I'm taking my 13 & 15 y/o niece & nephew. I have an AP so could drop them off and meet them when they're done, if that's possible.

I agree. We did the YES class this past October and DD loved her class and we got a nice discount for our family on the tickets. It will not be worth it for our family to save so little and be tied to tickets that cannot be changed. I was sweating bullets after purchasing our YES tickets for our Oct trip. That was a lot of money and I was just praying that we all stayed healthy and nothing major happened that would have us cancel our trip:scared1:

Unless they have changed, tickets are a benefit but not required. You need a ticket to get into the park, but that can be an AP. If you buy your tickets through YES the class fee is included, if you bring your own tickets then the class fee is like $35 per person or something like that.

13 and up, you check them in and must remain in the park. You do not have to stay with them during the class.

They did away with that last year.

You had to purchase the YES tickets in order to attend a class. There was no longer an option for people who had APs to just pay a fee for the class.

I have not looked to see if this changed again for this year since they restructured the tickets.

Where can I find the info for GROUP tickets? Did those prices go up substantially as well and can the family get the discount too or just the student?
