This thread is full of people who first went to WDW in the 70's as a 5 yr old!!! My first trip was in 1976 for my Senior Class Trip. I was almost 18 yrs old and remember riding on the carousel. I loved it! I also remember riding Space Mountain and being the front passenger. I was stuck so far down in the nose of the car that my friends had to pry me out. I have never been on Space Mountain again. I went back in 1978 for my honeymoon and stayed at Polynesian. Absolutely loved it. Didn't make it back to WDW for many more years after that, but I am making up for lost time now.

The first time we went to WDW we were 7 years old and it was in 1981. We stayed at a Marriott, I have no clue where it was but I would get International Drive. We went again in 1988 we stayed at Fort Wilderness. We then went on the Big Red Boat and did the Disney Cruise ( it was the Disney cruise then) and stayed at a Disney Resort I can not remember the name ( they had tree houses). We went in 1999 stayed over night, it was actually a 4 day weekend trip to Miami and we were so close that we HAD to drive up to go to Magic Kingdom. Then in 2000 stayed at All Star Movies, then in 2001 stayed off site, then we went in 2002. I wanna go back this year, but were going to save and try going to DisneyLand when TOT opens next year!

1970-Disneyland, We were both 24 and I don't remember much except laughing hysterically on the Teacups and having my sunglasses fly off my face. WDW in 1977 stayed at Yogi Bear and froze.Weve been 17 times since and after the 2nd trip have always been on property(10 visits since 94).DVC now makes it much easier.

1988 for Honeymoon!

I was 27 at the time and it was a real BIG deal as I hadn't travelled much before then.

See sig file for past trips :)

1995. I was married and had a 6 month old daughter. It was then that I was bitten by the Disney bug!

My first trip was in 1981 when I was 2. We always stayed at a resort in Kissimmee (me, my parents, my two sisters and my brother). I'm the only one in my family who is a certified Disneyaholic though.

:D

I went in 1981 for the first time. I was 4, almost 5. From there, my love of WDW became an obsession. lol

First time was in 1976. I was 20 and DSIS 19. We drove down

from Illinois--by ourselves!!! Stayed in a Days Inn in the middle of

nowhere. Had the ticket books, and had to go back to buy

another one. Didn't go back until 1990 with DH-have been

hooked since. DS is now 5 years old and this May will be his 4th

trip to WDW. He has been to Disneyland once, too!!

It was 1987 when I first went to Disney with parents, sister, and neice.
Returned in 1998 with DH to celebrate the honeymoon we never had. :teeth: We were married in 1991!
I've been back to Disney 3 times since that and the next trip happens in 2006...CAN'T WAIT!!

My first Disney trip was Disneyland in 1956.

On my first trip to WDW I was.....um....older and had a 7 year old son.

Unfortunately, my dh is severely Disney impaired and has no interest in Disney. My first trip was 1982, second trip was 1991, third trip was 2000. But my son grew up and went to college and I started making solo trips so I've had several more since then.

Being an older Disney fan has it's perqs ;)

Love it nativetxn - I am going to coop your phrase "Disney Impaired" - too funny

cheers

I went with my family in '71 or '72, I was in 8th or 9th grade. I do remember E-tickets, and complaining about not being able to ride the "cool" rides all day long. I just couldn't understand why we had to ride some of the smaller things. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was my favorite.

As an adult I probably started going in '84, and have been back every 1 -2 years, maybe a dozen times in the last 20 years.

All of my adult trips we have stayed onsight. We've stayed in Poly, YC, POR, CBR, ASsp, ASmu, and ASmo. Several resorts multiple times.

Our next trip is 03/30 - 04/06, we are staying at POFQ.

It was 1975 - just mom & dad and I. I remember getting off the highway and driving the LONG, LONG road out to MK. Dad would do some of the rides with me, but I had to ride SM alone (I was 12). I hung onto the handles inside the car so tight that all the blood rushed out of my hands and I had a hard time letting go at the end of the ride!!! I can remember loving the 360 degree theater and the "If you had wings" (I think that was what it was called).

Now when we drive around WDW, I always think of that long ride out when MK was all there was.

Is there anyway the poll can be reopened or should we start a new one for first year of going?

thanks

First trip to WDW was in 1975 with a large group of people in the summer after I graduated from high school. Stayed 4-5 days and only MK was open back then.

I've been back once in the mid 80's and loved it. Epcot was added, but I'm pretty sure land and sea pavilions were not there yet.

DH and I took DD to Disneyland on her 9th birthday in 1996. It was the 2nd week of January, and there were no lines at all!

The family is returning with DD and DS in May this year. We're planning for lots of fun!!

I think for me it was around 1982 b/c I was told I was just a toddler (I don't remember a second of it!) then again in 1989- that I remember all of that was awesome. I went again in 1997 with my High School Band Trip and then I went in March 2003 and then again on this Saturday coming up yay!!!

Christmas week 1971, 3 years old. I remember meeting MM and Tigger, I have the photos, and watching a concert, I believe it was frankie valley, I didnt know that at the time. I also remember that my dad was gone for a very long time to ride Space Mountain. I was totally afraid of 20,00 leagues under the sea and I can remember having to decide which attractions to see because we only had so many tickets. Thinking about it, wasnt that a really stupid idea??? Trying to pick and E or C or whatever ticket. I also have a very fond memory of watching the parade while we were waiting to see the CBJ. I loved being on the boats. Ahhhh so many fond memories
