XXI Olympic Winter Olympics Games Thread

I, too, am anxiously awaiting for the winter Olympics to start. I love the winter games. I don't get into the summer ones at all, but I love everything about the winter ones. Can't wait!!

Oh I am so ready! Every 4 years I become an armchair ice-skating "expert". Dh has been known to walk in me screaming at the television "You call the a triple Salchow??" or "What?? He didn't even get full rotation on that quad!" Usually he just shakes his head and backs slowly out of the room.

During the summer Olympics I often woke him from a sound sleep, jumping up and down on the bed screaming "Faster! Faster!"

wait...that didn't come out right...

I just upgraded my DVR to one with over 300 hours (well, only 50 of hd), and I figure I'll need every one of them! Bring it on!

And let's show the biathalon for once, huh?!?

>>Went to the local package store and got a 24 of Molson Export.;)<<

>>For the opening ceremonies?;)<<

Yes, but with that 5% alc./vol, I have no idea how far I can go. ;)

:sad1: I was going to go up to Vancouver for about a month to be around the Olympic atmosphere... I didn't go. I would have left at the end of January.

I'm definitely going to watch on TV though. I really hope they have it on in my gym... sometimes we end up watching the dumbest shows.

Just read the Sports Illustrated Olympic preview issue. The editors are picking Canada to win the Men and Women gold medal for hockey.

Look for Lindsey Vonn to be the Michael Phelps for NBC.

Already looking forward to snowboarding, figure skating and hockey along with freestyle skiing.

I must say...I don't like the design of the medals. A blech!

I love the medals. They are each unique and part of a larger native mural of an orca. It really does represent our region quite well.

They look like a old LP that was left out in the sun to warp. They also look like their made of plastic.

I like them, they are different and they are not that standard round shape.

I was just wondering if there was an Olympics thread yet. Can't wait for Friday!

Just saw that at some venues they are having to truck in and helicopter in snow because they have had warmer than normal temperatures. Also that practices will be limited to keep down on the wear and tear on the small snow base.

I don't think there has been a winter olympics that hasn't had weather problems.
