X Factor--Season 1

Uuggh!!! I was so aggravated watching last night's show. I disagree with A LOT of the judges choices. They sent home some of the BEST singers (by their own admission), and kept some that were just ridiculous... Dexter???? :confused3

We always said it with AI, but I am convinced after watching last night's show that they are just choosing the interesting characters hoping it will boost up the ratings. They are not showing any regard for talent!!! :sad2:

That said, most of my favorites did get through (Josh, Leroy, Rachel, Marcus and Melanie...eventually). I even think that was setup. I mean, what are the chances you show up out of the blue, unannounced, and the whole extended family is there looking all perky and full of smiles? Why would he send her home in the first place? She had one of the best performances of the judge's house rounds. Simon obviously thought so too, he theatrically collapses on the coach when she finishes singing, and he sends her home? I lost a lot of respect for the show last night.

I'm happy Josh went through, can't wait to see how they make him over for the show. I loved hearing him sing "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", I just melted. I'm already looking forward to buying his album!!

I was kind of surprised L.A. didn't put Brennin Hunt through. Even though he's kind of stuck on himself I thought he had the looks and voice to go through. And I was disappointed that he let the brat kid, Brian go through. :( And Chris too, yes he has a nice enough voice but he has so much baggage with the addictions, and I'm just afraid that if he goes very far it'll all go to his head and he'll get sucked right back into the drugs. I wouldn't have picked him to go through, he hasn't been clean long enough.

I was bummed when Simon cut Melanie, but so glad he "made it right" and went to her home to ask her to come back. :)

Looking forward to next week. :)

I agree about Chris, I think it will be too much for him.

Josh is my favorite. I am glad that Phillip made it through too. I can't believe she sent Dexter through. The only group I really cared about made it through, Lakota Rayne.

I don't fully understand how the public voting will work on the X-Factor but I wonder if a judges strategy may be to have weaker singers along with their favorites. That way there will be less competition for their favorite to win. I'm probably not explaining this well but it seemed like this may have been a strategy use on The Voice last season.

I'm actually still trying to figure out why Simon would have picked Tiah.

There was NO excuse for Melanie to be cut other than to add drama by putting her back in. And no excuse for Jazzlynn and Caitlin to be cut period.

I might get flamed but they really need to do something about the voting system, 1 call/text per line. I think its silly that some little girls will call 104823985934967xs for their favorites, ruins the competition IMHO.

And I love this show for the simple fact that I don't have to look at Ryan Seacrest...at least this host seems sincere, he's easy to look at, and I like his accent :lmao:

Wouldn't that system eliminate multi votes? Only 1 call/text per line? Or are you saying that is how the voting SHOULD be, cause it isn't?

Awww, I love Ryan Seacrest :lovestruc This host is a cutie though and a lot taller than Ryan :rotfl2:

I'm actually still trying to figure out why Simon would have picked Tiah.

I thought the same thing when I saw who was put through last night. I was just glad some of my favorites made it.

As far Jazzlyn goes, I can see why Simon didn't put her through. She really needs lots more self-confidence before she's ready to make a career in the music business. While she is beautiful and has a great voice, I didn't think emotionally she was ready to handle it. I still can't see why he put Simone through and not Caitlin.

That selection really bothers me also. I feel like some of us got a lot of criticism last year on the American Idol thread about women just not liking attractive female singers (Pia and the one that growled) so I was excited about supporting Caitlin. She is so beautiful and she can really sing. I thought it would be my big chance to prove that my taste isn't motivated by jealousy. And they go and select Simone and Tiah over Caitlin. That is just going to make it easier for me to support Josh and LeRoy.

About Caitlyn the tall, beautiful, soccer player?

Man, I REALLY like her!!!
I was heartbroken when she got cut.

But, when thinking why she was cut, somebody who wants to be a star has to have the eye of the tiger. They have to have a true passion. They have to be driven to tour and perform on stage. And, as much as I loved her and her singing, I am wondering if that is what they think was missing.

While she is one remarkable singer, I just don't know if I see her driven to really work that hard at touring, putting together a demanding stage performance, coming up with her own new music all the time, etc...

That energy and drive is a MUST to make it in the industry.

That is a part of what they call 'The 'X' Factor'.

That may be the reason why, but I just hated to see her go!

About Stacey...
She had that INCREDIBLE initial audition performance.
But, are her issues with self-confidence showing up as somehow, even if she does not realize it, sabotaging herself???? She just goes into this thing where she sounds iike an overblown Patti Labelle tribute. Even her hairstyle... Why is she messing with something incredible and going in the wrong direction. :confused3

I am saying thats how the voting system SHOULD be, but I doubt it will be that way.

I think Simon's choices are going to backfire when America votes Simone and Tia out early. If everyone recalls that guy in the early auditions who was a total jerk to Simon but a decent singer but got cut because Simon said America wouldn't vote for an attitude like that...Well

Pot meet kettle! No votes for Simone or Tiah...say it with me folks!

That Brian "Astro" kid has a lot of attitude, even L.A. Reid commented on it before letting him know he made the cut. I don't care too much for him, let's see how it plays.

As far as the girls, I'm glad they call Melanie back, she totally deserves it. I agree with you, I can not picture Simone going too far in the competition, I'm not sure about Tia, Simon seems to favor her a lot.

Watching here also, and a bit peeved..I think Chris should have gone home, not Philip..no idea why L.A. picked such a crap song(totally non-relevant to today)for him to sing, but I still thought he sang better tonight than Chris.

We are watching too.

I think Chris went on because he has the better story. And I didn't see Philip having mainstream appeal.

We do not like Dexter at all. Hope he doesn't make it through.
