considering both for the kids(yeah, right)...will mainly play sports games...not interested in online capabilities...does anyone have both or played both and can honestly compare without prejudice(most people seem to have a favorite and put down the other).....will probably play madden football the most..

thanks guys! your friend, santa clause

In my experience, PS2 seems to have more/better sports games. I don't play the sports games, but my BIL does and that's the only reason he went with the PS2. I don't have an Xbox but now I'm wishing I did. All the good games (I'm talking non-sports) seem to be going to the Xbox. Like Resident Evil Zero...Playstation use to do the Redident Evil games but not anymore for some reason. My advice would be to first look at the games you want to get. Get whatever console has the most games you want for it.

For sports games definitely PS2 over X-Box.

But a warning, the sports games are the only good things on the PS2 (for the most part)

The other games are good but don't have much replay value

We have an Xbox, and I would say sports games for the xbox is better than the PS2.

They do have the Xbox Live which does look like fun.. for example NFL 2003 on Xbox, seems to have better graphics than the PS2.

Mostly all that Best Buy sells is the Xbox sports games (at least in our stores)

We have a problem, there are too many sports games, and not a lot of other games for my five year old. (She won the Xbox, so we figured keep it in the house)

The Xbox has a hard drive, (does the PS2?), and a faster processor speed.
