WWYD? offered free upgrade

I don't give a rip if the DVC owners don't like it. I've read the thread, and I understand the resentment, but I don't think it's towards us, more towards Disney. They are afraid their dues will go up, and feel it's unfair. Well, there have been a TON of times I've seen others get upgrades/codes/pixie dust on here and I didn't get it. That's what makes it special for those who do.

I plan on enjoying my vacation to the fullest, just as I would if I had not gotten upgraded. Probably even moreso!

ITA :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Just think...sitting in my 1 BR villa, eating my dessert from Lecellier for breakfast because I was just way too full at dinner, after all that free food. :cloud9: all for 82 bucks a night.:dance3:

Well, dang. I shoulda read this thread before I complained on my own thread about not being able to upgrade w/ free dining. I was so bummed I just logged on and typed!! LOL!!!

I have bath confetti. I think the kids will like it too! This just disolves.

Ya know its going to be here before ya know it!!:goodvibes

We still have one payment to make.

Do you think you could tell me how you ordered the water from Staples? Please?
Did you call or do it on-line?

TIA

I wanted to see the price. I haven't ordered it yet. When I tried on the internet it just came up as unavalible so I called. You only can get certain brand down there. So when it comes time to order I am just going to call and place my order over the phone. Get the mail address on allears. We leave on the 30th so I will place my order a couple days before and report how it went.

In the defense of DVC owners (mainly because I am one!)...you need to realize that many of them did not understand the upgrades were coming from CRO's inventory (not DVC) and felt like they were getting the shaft after spending thousands of dollars to be members. Also, one of the selling tools of DVC is that the resorts are not only deluxe, but will put you within an elite group of vacationers that enjoy the finer things in life.

Yes, sometime people tend to get a little snobby, but it's no different from the people that post about how they will only stay in deluxes or conciege level, etc. I just take it all with a grain of salt. I love POP too and this would have been my fourth stay in less than two years.

I still don't quite understand the reasoning behind the upgrades but I'm happy to be a part of them. So as I posted previously, don't worry -- be happy (but please don't be a poop-head about it either!). :)

I hope they don't make us wear a big scarlet U on our shirts!!!

Honestly, no one there will have any idea whether you are an owner, a renter, someone paying CRO rates, or someone that got a whole lot of pixie dust sprinkled on them!!!

Oh, as far as the jacuzzi tubs -- many people just bring the tablets you put in your dishwasher and drop them in a full tub of water and run the jets for a little while, then drain and refill for personal use. :thumbsup2

If you are a Costco member, you can order water from their business delivery service and there are no shipping charges. They have a few other things to like flavored coffee creamer, granola bars, cereal packets, etc. Not a huge selection and some of it is a bit higher than supermarket prices...but very convenient!

I understand why everyone was upset, I would be too! I just didn't get the class of society comments because I seriously doubt there's going to be a bunch of trashy people moving in for a week. Timeshare is a really touchy subject and I truly believe that DVC is different that most, but ~most~ elite people don't buy timeshare, it's not an investment to them. Feeling elite is a whole 'nother concept.

I would've rather heard the frustration from the people who were staying that particular week as a DVC member using points. I'm pretty sure most aren't because they can stay there duing the more desired seasons which is what makes DVC great.

We're all going to have a great time!! Maybe in mid-August we can do a chat one night.

There are a few DVC members that were upset at the free upgrades, but I am not among them. Disney holds back 2-5% of each DVC resort for cash reservations, and if the rest of the DVC rooms aren't booked by a certain date, Disney can rent them out too. All DVC members should know that.

I think some DVC folk were upset that they had to pay more to stay at DVC resorts, while people who just paid a "value resort" price got DVC for free.

Disney is just trying to fill up it's resorts to have more people onsite to spend on park tickets, souveneers, etc. A side benefit will be to probably interest some more folks in DVC, although since it is selling very well, they probably don't have to.

For those of you who have been upgraded to a DVC resort, I say I hope you have a grand time. No need to hide or go undercover. The majority of DVC members are not snobs.

Have a magical vacation!

Yep, I can totally understand the DVC owners' frustration. Here they are paying out the nose, and us "value" people come waltzing in to their resort and taking over!

Ok so that may be a little dramatic, and I'm really not trying to sound mean-spirited, just having a little fun. In all honesty, I'd be mad too if I paid full price and then found out a bunch of people got the same thing for so little. But that's life, it happens all the time. You buy something full price, then it goes on sale. You pay rack rate, then a special comes out. You buy a house, then the prices go down. Hey, it happens to the best of us. I don't like the "class" comments I've seen though, but I really don't think those people are thinking before they type, they are just frustrated that they are paying more. But just for the record, class has nothing to do with income level.

I totally agree that most wealthy people do not consider timeshare a good investment. In fact, I've heard it's the fasted depreciating "investment" you can make. I could buy DVC if I wanted to, even as a single mom of 2 with a very modest income. If I wanted it badly enough, I could make it happen. Fact is, I LIKE being a value girl. I travel on the cheap, I travel smart, and I travel often. For the price of what many people (even DVCers) pay for one vacation per year, I get two or three. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

When we are there, nobody is going to know who is DVC, who is cash paying, and who is an Upgrader. Except of course for my dad, who will be loudly proclaiming, "You can't do THIS at Pop!" everywhere he goes.

I didn't think of the parents!!!!
My mom will be the one at the pool telling everyone that her daughters got such a deal that she and my dad got a 1br for the price of a value. Oh, no We will need to make rules for talking to strangers at the pool.

Something tells me the parents will have no problem finding each other. They will be comparing notes on how much this vacation would have cost IF...

:rotfl: That is sooo like my dad! Honestly, I don't know what class I'm in. I'm the grown daughter of DVC owners. They bought DVC for the family. My sister, her husband, and me and my girls. So, I guess I get OKW at the best deal you can hope for...free! Thanks mom and dad! :goodvibes

Anyway, 99.9% of the time we are at OKW. It's a wonderful resort. There is no possible way to tell whose there on cash or points or were upgraded or just grown freeloading offspring :rolleyes1

As DVCers, we can pool hop and love to go to the Poly to sit by the lagoon and swim in the volcano pool. It's totally allowed but we still try to keep it secret that we really aren't staying there. We work hard to "look the part" :snooty: but dad blows our cover every time, to the extreme embarrassment of my mother.

That's the status I'm hoping for, after the free upgrade! I've already begun planting the seeds of DVC ownership in my parents' heads. I'm so evil. :rolleyes1

I just wanted to say thanks to the DVCers who posted here. I feel a little less freaked out now. I was honestly starting to feel like an angry mob would be waiting at SSR 0n 8/26 with pitch forks and torches.
