So, I just got an email from Disney regarding my upcoming Labor Day weekend trip I have booked for DFi and me. We booked free dining @ Pop for 3 nts, and Disney just sent an email offering a free upgrade to a studio at either OKW or SSR.
I'm waffling - here are my thoughts - Please help!!!

A) I'm guessing they've overbooked Pop which means it's going to be crazy
B) We stayed at SSR in October and thought it was nice, but big, very quiet and laid back though which is great.
C) we stayed at Pop in January and thought it was just fine, it is what it is, good food court, enjoyed the pool bar, room was fine for the 2 of us on a short trip
D) We're doing DDP which means the food court is a good option to have for CS meals at POP; does OKW have a CS option, I know SSR does, which we did enjoy on our last trip.
E) we really liked the vibe @ OKW when we went to eat @ Olivia's one day for lunch, but isn't it also a big resort, do they take requests for rooms close to the main bldg?
F) we weren't going to rent a car, but if we were to stay at one of the DVC resorts, I think I'd feel obligated to.

Soooo, my fellow DIS'ers, what do you think? I'm not even 100% positive at this point if we're making the trip b/c airfare skyrocketed after we booked and I'm feeling guilty about spending the $ with the wedding 10 months away...thank you for your help!

I just got the same offer for my trip starting 8/26. It is just me and my son.

I am not sure what to do as well.

How is the transportation from SSR or OKW? We have never stayed at either.

the transpo from SSR was a little slow but we may have just caught it wrong when we took the bus, there are also several internal stops. They each do have the boat to DTD which is a huge plus.

I would take a delux resort over a value resort any day, especially when they offer it at the same price.

I just priced the room only at OKW and I got $1255.52 for 4 nights - $313 a night? They are mass (it appears) offering an upgrade to that from the $92 a night room? They must have SERIOUSLY overbooked.

I am thinking I should jump on it.

I guess I will be researching this tonight!

It is just me and DS too, I took the upgrade to Saratoga, we will be there from 08/26-09/01 and were booked originally at movies in a preferred room, hopefully that will translate well at Saratoga.. They are having problems getting it booked though, I have been on forever with my rep, but he is very kind :)

I'd ask if it's possible to stay at one of the moderates or at the BC/YC if you feel like you would need to rent a car at a DVC resort. It's your personal feeling about your vacation and if staying there changes how comfortable you are about transportation then it seems like they might let you have another option for a regular resort instead of the DVC. Yes it's great to have an upgrade to nicer digs, but that's not the most important point to everyone. I personally love the DVC, but it's your vacation!

personally I think you're crazy if you don't. With a studio you get a balcony, microwave, toaster, fridge, and more room!! You can also rent bikes and boats at OKW, can't say for SSR. We've stayed at SSR and OKW and have never had a transportation problem. I don't see why you would need a car if you never got one before. I know at OKW you should ask for a room close to the Hospitality House, which is where Olivia's is. Our favorite is OKW, but we liked both. Go for it!!:)

You don't need a car at the DVC resorts. We stayed at OKW and had a car but didn't really use it while we were there. We mostly use it for grocery shopping, but that's when we're in a 1 or 2 BR with the full kitchen. There are bus stops at each section of the resorts, so you don't need to be near the main building. You can just hop on the first bus that comes along and get off at the main building.

I'd take that upgrade in a heartbeat! Enjoy!

I knew I should have book ASM instead of POR. I would take an upgrade to deluxe if they offer it to me. LOL

I would go for it. after all, you are getting a $300-$400 room for the price of a $100 room. its worth it

Jenna - we were at Movies too! 8/26 - 8/30! I had decided to go for SSR - but I just called to book it and it didn't work - she said it wasn't online yet and I should call back tonight or tomorrow. :confused Jenna already booked it!

Edit - oh, I see Jenna is having trouble.

I am going to call back a little later.

we are leaning towards OKW, since we've never stayed there, but the lack of CS concerns me; I guess we could always go to DTD to use CS credits, or just use them at the park...hmmm...
IDK why, but Pop always feels so much more Disney to me!

I received the email, too. I am on hold with the CM now because the code from the email won't work! I just checked out the website and realized that the difference between my reservation at POP and the one they are offering me at SSR is $1106.10! Holy cow!

My family loves POP but it has been a few years since we've stayed anywhere but a value, so I just have to do it!

What a thrill this is! Many thanks to WDW for overbooking POP!

Can someone post when it actually goes through so I can call back? I am sitting here thinking about calling back, but I don't want to stalk them....

Received an email this afternoon offering me a free upgrade from POP to SSR or OKW at the end of August! I feel like I won the lottery. Things like this never happen to me!:cool1:

:sad2: Of course, I have been on hold off and on for 20 minutes, and the CM just came on to tell me that the pin code isn't working in their system yet. She took my cell phone number and said she would call me at work tomorrow when the code is fixed in the system! Now I feel like someone ripped up my lottery ticket!

I'm on with a rep right now, and she's saying that I may not be able to upgrade b/c I'm on free dining, but she's checking...
