WWYD? offered free upgrade

Ok...just got a 1 bedroom at OKW - I hope this is a good move...someone reassure me it is PLEASE!!!

You'll love OKW. Although we own at 4 DVC resorts (SSR, OKW, BWV & VWL), we stayed at OKW the first time we 'came Home' and absolutely loved it! The one-bedroom we had was slightly larger than our 3-bedroom home in CA! We were on Turtle Road and it was convenient for everywhere; near an internal bus stop but not noisy. Near a pool. Not far from the Hospitality House and Olivia's and the busses to parks and other resorts. There was even a path along the waterway to DTD - only about a 20 minute walk.

OMG - I just looked at pics of the 1 BR at OKW and I think it's bigger than our apartment! seriously, LOL!
I was just talking to Fi and said, even if the airfare is high, it's worth it, we don't even need to go anywhere I'll just stay at the resort and hang out! (He's a little freaked about the Aug temps and being at the parks)

Staying at OKW on our own dime would have cost $4000 w/ dining! We paid $1300 and are now getting back $2.40 for some reason. It must be good! Anyone ever stayed there before and like it better than POP...this may be the dumbest question ever asked but I will take ownership!

Well...I called back and it worked! They upgraded us to studio at SSR. It is an $1100.00 upgrade. WOOOOHHOOOO!

JFranklyn, I wouldn't wait! Do it! Opportunities like that don't come along often. There is a thread on the resorts forum, and it seems people are booking it like crazy, so I wouldn't waste another minute! Congrats and best of luck!

We got the same offer, I am still in shock. We were ASMu upgrades. I didn't know anything about either resort, so I picked SSR and then realized after looking that it was one bed and a sofa-bed in a studio and I'd rather have 2 beds because of the kids, so I called back and switched to an OKW studio.

I thought I was the luckiest person ever until I saw that some of you got 1 bedrooms! Good for all of you!

Hi, Excuse me because I know nothing about the DVC resorts but did I hear that the buses stop coming or going to these resorts earlier in the afternoon/night than the other Disney resorts? I thought I read that and thought I read you would need a car if staying at one of these. That's why I have not considered them before. Anyone know?

The DVC resorts have the same bus transportation as the rest of the Disney resorts. We stayed at SSR last summer without a car and we were fine - and we stayed at the parks until closing most nights.

I booked and I am soo happy. I couldn't believe it. The CM I spoke to was shocked herself and couldn't believe it. We also recieved a credit of about $5. Now for my husband who didn't even want to go, I can't wait till he gets home for this one.

How many of us are getting free dining too? This is unreal. For those who didn't get the email, I think it might only affect people who are staying (or beginning their stay) between 8-26 and 9-1 - those were the dates on the email.

Ok...just got a 1 bedroom at OKW and get this....they OWE us $2.40 for some reason? We even have a jacuzzi in the bathroom...not that we will use it unless we fill it with COLD water (we are coming Aug 26-Sept 1). The only downfall is that we are coming a day early (on Aug 25) because of cheaper airfare so we have to stay at POP for 1 night and then move all our stuff the next day. I just don't want to waste an entire day moving! Hopefully they have a solution so we don't waste time. I hope this is awesome. I was kind of looking forward to POP because of the cool pools and hopefully my kids don't fall in love with it the one night we stay there . I hope this is a good move...someone reassure me it is PLEASE!!!

I am sure that you will absolutely love OKW. Your room at POP will be small, but should be adequate for your first night. Not sure how many will be in your group? POP is a fun resort, but OKW is so relaxing and wonderful.

While at OKW take your kids to the pool near the hospitality house, there is a small play area, boat ride to DTD and craft/activity room. A one bdrm is so huge, you will not believe how much room you have. I am so excited for you and your family. Free dining is wonderful, make sure you have your ADR's. The CM's at the concierge desk are so helpful, make sure to stop to request their help with any changes to your ADR's.

I have always have a car when I change resorts, but have read that you can check out of one resort and have the bell desk transfer your luggage while you enjoy the park. If you are interested in renting a car I have a suggestion. There is a Budget rental desk at the Doubletree in DTD resort area, you can pick up the car at the airport, keep it for your one night at POP, then when you move to OKW you can return the car to the Doubletree. They have a free shuttle that will return you to WDW. We have never had a problem with this, and have done it three different visits. It is nice to have the car to pick up a few groceries since you will be staying where there is a kitchen. Although with free dining you will have more than enough to eat. LOL.

It may sound to good to be true, but let me tell you....it works!!! I just got off the phone and upgraded our trip from the Pop Century to Saratoga Springs for FREE!!! We're traveling from August 26 to September 4. Yes they still included the free dining for the trip, so it's double the savings!!!! The agent told me they were doing this because their value resorts filled quicker than they thought with the free dining promo, so they wanted to pass the savings onto people who made reservations early......I feel like I won the lottery!!!

To make it even sweeter, they upgraded us to a 1 bedroom villa with a King bedroom, living room, full kitchen and jacuzzi tub. Now we have a place to put all of our leftovers from the nice restaurants. Dont' wait, the agent said the email went out today and there really getting busy with calls.
