Hi Everyone,

I hope this is the right place to post this:

I will be at Disney from September 16 until November 18. On Saturday, September 17, I will be at MGM at Who Wants To Be A Millionaire to try for the hot seat from the first game until the last (there are usually about 7-8 games in a day from about 11am until 6ish). I am somewhat of an expert, having been in the hot seat many times (I've lost count, but I think it's about 10). If you or anyone in your party love this game and have always wanted to have a calculated shot at the hot seat (luck still is a big factor but you can increase your odds), this is your opportunity! I will share my winning strategies (there are 3 and they are all easily mastered in a few minutes) with whoever shows up on that day (or any other day agreed upon).

If this is a favorite of yours, as it is of mine...and you are going to be at Disney...respond in this thread or PM me. Sigh...maybe I'm a breed apart, but I really love this game and I figure some of you know others in your party that feel the same way (or maybe you are a WWTBAM fanatic yourself) and would like to meet up for this...for at least a while, if not the whole day.

Let's win ourselves a lanyard, some pins, an exclusive Millionaire baseball cap or maybe even a Millionaire polo shirt...while making memories and having lots of fun!

We are allowed back in the hot seat every 30 days, so I hope to make it into the hot seat on the 17th of September, then a month later (around the 17th of October) and then a final time (hopefully on or before the 18th of November. LOL...I know it's tight scheduling, but this is what I did last year as I attended most of the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot.

So if you are going to be down at Disney and have always wanted to dedicate a day to this...or even just an hour or two...let's get our lime green ribbons and/or Tshirts out and make it an event..even if it ends up just being two or three of us!

Before I close, let me also hasten to add...one does NOT have to be a brain to get into the hot seat and win a lanyard, pins and a baseball cap...the first five questions there are really easy and the host even "helps" you out a little...but the questions do get harder in order to win the next level (for the polo shirt)...and the final five (for the exclusive Millionaire leather jacket, the airline tickets and the Disney cruise) are really hard. Sigh...I have faced the 500,000 point question twice...and missed. Sheesh...just 2 questions away! (Who knew the atomic number of cesium was 55? lol)

Sounds cool! I would love to be in the Hot Seat! My DH and I both tried on our last trip, but never made it (we were in the top 10).

We will be at MGM on Sept. 19th and hope to try it again. We probably won't be able to make a whole day of it, but I'd like to try at least once or twice!

P.S. How was your trip to Vegas??

Super! And thank you again for all the Vegas tips and websites you sent me earlier in June! I just passed them along to another Disser who is going to LV. It will be fun to meet up at MGM...now I just have to acquire something memorable in lime green so we can recognize each other. I'll PM you closer to the date with the Millionaire show time schedule if I'm there before you. I arrive on the 16th.

The Vegas trip went well. We used a restaurant.com coupon for a British pub meal, ate outside in the garden one evening. Although the street was just on the other side of the shrubbery, it was still pretty nice outside. I wouldn't have liked it inside though...it's a lively place with entertainment and such and allows cigarettes so it smelled like smoke, which I don't like when I am eating. The food was great and very easy on the pocketbook considering the total bill including 20% tip came to less than $60 for DH, 3 teens and me...and that included 2 Boddington's ales and desserts as well as 5 entrees. Gotta love restaurant.com!

We ended up doing a lot of resort activities, a little gambling downtown(although DH and I were $70 ahead at one point, gambling on the house's money, by the time we left at the end of the week we were only $17 up.) We had a GIGANTIC strawberry shortcake at Circus Circus for $1.50. I swear it weighed 3 pounds! We also saw a live variety show at Aladdin's...had BOGO sundaes at Ghiradelli's and toured all the volcanos, pyramids, tiger habitats, pirate ships and canals...lol!

We will be in WDW from 10/3 to 10/10. I would love to put my DH in the "hot seat"!!! I know if he got in, he would do great in the questions as he seems to know all the right answers when the show plays on TV :goodvibes We arrive on Monday around noon and are planning onvisiting MGM for our 1st time ever. (DD fell in love with AK when she was 4 and we spent a huge amount of time there on our last trip)

I would love to wear some lime green and take any and all help/advise on getting to the hot seat!

What do I do next?

Hi MMPC123,

As for what you do next...nothing! I'm going to keep track of who wants to give WWTBAM a try and then meet you there on the date/time agreed to demonstrate/share my strategies. When I get down to WDW and get the MGM daily schedule for WWTBAM I'll PM everyone with that info so we can all know for sure when the shows are scheduled and decide how long you want to allot for them (One show...2 shows...several or (lol) all of them). Don't forget...your DD could get into the hot seat! Children 9 and under can have a parent stand by the hot seat with them to help them with their answers. The youngest person to win the cruise was 9...and she was helped by a parent. The youngest child to actually get in the hot seat was two!

I'm going to find something lime green to wear so we can recognize each other (lime green is the traditional " Dis color"). If I can't find anything else I will wear lime green ribbons somehow...do you think lime green ribbons in a 56 year old, rotund matron's hair would attract any attention? LOL

I'm totally flexible on time, so when you know what day you'll be at MGM we can set up a time, even if you only figure that out after you actually get to WDW. I'll keep track of who is going when, by consulting this thread.

AK is a great park too. Has your DD seen any of the procedures the Disney vets do daily (except Wed.) back in Rafiki's Planet Watch? And has she seen the butterfly room there? I had a great time at the "school" in Harambe as well...I was surprised to find out elephant's tail hairs look and feel like wire! Visit the tigers and bats during the last hour the park is open and you will witness much more activity. Once I heard the tigers roar...actually, I felt them roar as much as heard them...it's an incredible experience, especially that close.

My DH is totally up for this. He made the hot seat last time we were there and is itching for a rematch. (I was right behind him, scorewise...and I wanted to kill because I *knew* the answer to the question he missed. le sigh...) I think he made it to 32000.

I need to check our park schedule and see where we're slated to be on Saturday, I think it's our second MK day, but we're solo adults and flexible, and I know he'd love to pick your brain and get a chance to play more Millionaire. :) We'll be there from Sept. 14-19.

Ozymoe, staying on site? :cool1: We stay for extended stays but have never been that lucky. LOL

I am pretty lucky in that I have managed to get into the hot seat, every single trip, since I learned to push the buttons faster. I knew Catherine the Great's real first name (250,000) but managed to confuse my Muppets with my Seasame Street characters once (2,000??)). So much luck is involved. If they ever ask only questions I know the answers to I will be a cruise winner!! :rotfl2:

We do not have our dates set for our November trip but I would love to be part of a Millionaire get together. Not sure I want to play against you though. :rolleyes1

Our last trip was too short and I did not know about the DIS. I think I am much better prepared for this trip :cool1: than our last. We will have to check out the far reaches of AK. That park is HUGE! Where can I look for those cool things like the Vet and Butterfly room?

My DH has been hearing about your generous offer and wonders "How does the game pick who sits in the hot seat? How long does the game usually run?" I wonder if I can leave 1/2 way thru incase my 2 year old starts squarming? she does not sit for more than 45 minutes or so :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Thanks again for all the great info :goodvibes

Regarding "le sigh"...LOL...isn't that always the case! You two sound like DH and I...well, as I would sound if DH edged me out...which he did when we were there this last spring break! I'm an old pro but it was his first chance to occupy the hot seat and he did it in style...although he missed the 32,000 point question. Lol...we are pretty evenly matched overall, but it never seems to fail that he knows the answer to any question that trips me up!...and he does grant that some of the questions I sail through would have stumped him when we play along at home during the "real" Millionaire shows. I guess that means we'd be a great team if they ever do "Couples WWTBAM"!

Saturday, September 17 is the day I am going to be there all day or until I land in the hot seat, but as of now I'm planning to return for at least one game, possibly and quite probably two on Monday, September 19 to meet up with Ilovedale3. Whatever works for you...but I'd advise early enough for some rematches on the off chance only one of you makes it the first day...lol!

I am sooo glad there are others of you out there that like this game well enough to return for another challenge! I am not alone! I will share a very interesting personal story later in this thread, but i don't have time right now. Remind me by saying "David and his parents".

My dh and I are not evenly matched at all. He loves to go to the Millionaire show with me to watch. It is sort of like a guy showing off his prize hound dog or something. :rotfl2: I live in fear of disappointing him.

We have only played trivia once together and his question was "What cigarette is named after an animal"? He smoked for 54 years, this brand even. Maybe he was suffering from brain strain like I do when I get under the lights though. :confused3

I met a lady once who makes the hot seat (as well as her husband) often and she told me that they send the other smart members of their family to stand by the Phone a Stranger phone so that they have a better than average chance of a good answer.

I was the Phone a Stranger one time and it was scarier than being in the Hot Seat. It is one thing to wreck yourself but to do it to someone else is nervewracking. Luckily, even though I did not know the right answer I did know that three of the answers were wrong and it was for the $250,000 question. The poor lady lost the next question though. I was so rooting for her.

I play trivia with my 8 year old grandson who just loves it!

I'd love to be in the "hot seat". We will be there for a long weekend October 13 - Oct 16 and I'd love to meet you at WWTBAM so that I can win a criuse! (Yeah right) So that I can win some pins! :goodvibes

What's the trick? I won't know when we will be at MGM until closer to our trip. We are doing MNSSHP on the 13th and MGM for a while on either the 14th or 15th.

Won't be there at that time but sounds like fun. I love WWTBAM! Two years ago I had an annual pass and went to WDW five times during the year. I actually scheduled my trips at least thirty days apart so I would be eligible for the Hot Seat. Made it in 4 times, but never got all the way. Also made it up to 500,00. It is great attraction.

we will not be ther till the 23rd! But my DH says he is going to get in the hot seat and win me the cruise! I was wondering about the phone a friedn is it who ever answers the phone or do they give the ohone to someone?

There is a phone outside the building, and you phone a complete stranger.

I too would have been able to come up with the atomic weight of cesium, but missed my 500,000 point question on the name of a region in Italy! And I even had my 50/50 left so I had a one in two chance! Bummer.

Just curious, how in the world are you able to spend over 2 months at WDW? I assume that you may be retired.

These are found in Rafiki's PlanetWatch, for which you board the train at Conservation Station (next to and to the right of the Safari when you are looking at the entrance to the Safari). If you've never been back there before you and your DD have a real treat in store. There is an area where the kids can pet/groom little goats and other animals. (disinfectant and/or hand washes provided afterwards)...also Grandmother Willow's, Sounds of the Rainforest experience. These are all small attractions back there, as well as the butterfly room etc...that are wonderful if you have the time to explore them. Commando parents on a mission, beware...although many children are absolutely fascinated by this venue, it is best experienced when you have time to "stop and smell the roses"...or hedgehogs, owls and boas as the case may be (usually brought out every half hour for interaction in the large air-conditioned indoor building that also houses most of these small attractions). ...otherwise you may end up with crying children as they are persuaded to leave this area by adults who wish to be off for bigger experiences. There are many things for children of all ages (including me!) but this is one area that really goes out of its way to interact with 3-10 year olds, as well as be of interest to adults, in my opinion.

My DH has been hearing about your generous offer and wonders "How does the game pick who sits in the hot seat? How long does the game usually run?" I wonder if I can leave 1/2 way thru incase my 2 year old starts squarming? she does not sit for more than 45 minutes or so

The game picks the person who has the correct answer, and enters that answer in the fastest amount of time, to be in the hot seat. There are strategies that increase your chances of being that person...no guarantees, but that's why we're meeting up...to have fun, employ the best strategies and try for the hot seat.

45 minutes without squirming??? Rejoice, you have an angel! It is very easy to leave in the middle of the show with an unhappy child if we sit in the back row..or anywhere with an outside aisle seat. I hasten to say here, there are literally no "bad" seats in the house...and everyone has an equal chance at the hot seat, so where you sit is of little or no consequence. LOL...that being said, I do have a favorite seat that I try to sit in if I am alone...as I have found out do some of you! hello SlightlyGoofy :goodvibes

I might remark here that your 2 year old might love the buttons that he/she gets to push...and may be totally contented with the excitement, lights and clapping that goes on...much depends on the mood and disposition of the toddler...but it is always good to have a "plan B" and you are a wise mother to ask ahead of time.

Run time for a typical game...we are allowed to walk into the studio approximately 10 minutes before the game. The game itself usually allows for two hot seat experiences...sometimes three (if someone misses early and has to relinquish the seat)...this takes 25-35 minutes normally, after which we exit the building. If WWTBAM is one person's cup of tea, but not another's...and your party has toddlers, Bear in the Big Blue House is close and a good option while waiting.

Let me know closer to the date and we can meet up...I'll have my laptop with me and intend to keep up with the Dis every day. From September 16 to September 30 I'll be just down the street from MGM at Bonnet Creek and I will have access to BC's free high speed computers...lol...that will make it easier every night to respond. After that I'll be 15 minutes away at another FF resort off property.

...and there is NO trick...just some winning strategies anyone can employ, that work. WWTBAM is a Florida licensed game show and abides by all of the the strict state gaming rules.

I'm not going to be there during your time period either, but would love to hear your tips. Any chance you might share them with those of us who can't meet you in person please?

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I am going to Vegas for a wedding in October with my Dh and DS (14mo). We've never been so I would love any info that you guys could share. Thanks so much!!! :sunny:
