WWTBAM Unique Free Offer

Won't be there at that time but sounds like fun. I love WWTBAM! Two years ago I had an annual pass and went to WDW five times during the year. I actually scheduled my trips at least thirty days apart so I would be eligible for the Hot Seat. Made it in 4 times, but never got all the way. Also made it up to 500,00. It is great attraction.

Awww Paladin,

Scheduling five trips that way...you are a true WWTBAM devotee! I'm sorry I won't get to meet you this time...maybe another...that annual pass is a powerful piece of paper, isn't it? (Ozy grins because an annual pass is fueling her addiction)

we will not be ther till the 23rd! But my DH says he is going to get in the hot seat and win me the cruise! I was wondering about the phone a friedn is it who ever answers the phone or do they give the ohone to someone?

If you want to meet up on a day you are there...just say the word! I love playing Millionaire, whether I am eligible or not for the hot seat.

The phone is answered by a CM and then handed off to whichever guest is the closest when it rings. I have been standing there many times when this occurs...we are all allowed to help, but the actual person holding the phone has to quickly repeat the question in an attempt to get the answer if he/she doesn't know it...and then say it into the phone before 30 seconds are up. Of course, if they know the answer they just say it into the phone without asking any other people standing near.

Whether they are right or wrong, the person who handles the phone receives a special "I was a WWTBAM Phone-a"...or something to that effect. I don't know where my button is at the moment or I'd tell you what it says for sure.

There is a phone outside the building, and you phone a complete stranger.

I too would have been able to come up with the atomic weight of cesium, but missed my 500,000 point question on the name of a region in Italy! And I even had my 50/50 left so I had a one in two chance! Bummer.

...so how come everyone knows the atomic number of cesium except me????!
LOL...I knew hydrogen and helium and carbon and oxygen...heck!

Just curious, how in the world are you able to spend over 2 months at WDW? I assume that you may be retired.

LOL...not retired, but it's not a busy time of year for us and DH doesn't begrudge me my Food&Wine festival time. I have an annual pass and lots of Fairfield points from which I know how to get the maximum number of weeks to stay at Bonnet Creek, Star Island and Cypress Palms.

Our oldest daughter lives in Florida and might be playing the lead in her community theatre's presentation of Sweet Charity. I'll be visiting with her, helping her rehearse, doing a costume or two etc...

Our oldest son and his fiance might come down for awhile...different friends of ours have joined me in the past...and actually this is only the second year I've spent this extreme extended amount of time down there. Last year it came about because of the hurricanes. We wanted to have a place for our daughter to go in case she needed shelter. Two hurricanes made landfall in her town of Stuart and wreaked devastation.

So, to answer your question...at this time it just works for me to do this...plus, I'm really supposed to be doing some writing (lol...didn't get too much done last year so will try again this fall).

I'm not going to be there during your time period either, but would love to hear your tips. Any chance you might share them with those of us who can't meet you in person please?

I sent you a PM.

Our family is also WWTBAM addicts...6 people in our family and each trip at least 3 of us get in the hot seat every trip....We had 4 trips this year so everybody has been in the hot seat in the last 12months in our family. We have 22 hats collectively...unfortunately the highest our family has hit is 250,000. We are still hoping for the Million point question but it still illudes us...

The key to WWTBAMPI are as follows

1) Fastest finger question...JUST GUESS...don't try to figure it out. The Guessers win about 95% of the time. Pick a pattern, just hit them in random order...Just make sure you are pressing buttons by the time the last answer is lighting up.

2)Ignore the direction of waiting for the lights to light up before pressing the buttons....As soon as you KNOW the answer start repeated clicking of the answer until the button lights up. This is opposite of the directions the host/hostess give. You see speed is the key the faster your correct answer if light up the more bonus points you get.

3) Clicking of the buttons is very important you can not hold it down and get the speed bonuses.

It is addicting so beware

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I am going to Vegas for a wedding in October with my Dh and DS (14mo). We've never been so I would love any info that you guys could share. Thanks so much!!! :sunny:

I sent you a PM.

This is the PM that I sent a few people already:

Hi,

It works best to be shown by someone, but I'll try to explain it.

You get picked to be in the hot seat by answering the questions correctly, the fastest. You can increase your odds by just picking a random pattern of the 24 available patterns and punching it in as quickly as you can for the "fastest finger" question, disregarding actually trying to answer the "fastest finger" question.

...on all other questions just be the fastest and right. There are some techniques for being the fastest, and that's why I offered to show people if they are there...it's easier to show people what to do than try to explain it. Basically just keep pushing the correct button as fast as you can as soon as soon as you know the answer until the correct answer is recorded, which you know has happened when the light over the correct answer button remains lit for a short period of time.

Those are all the main, big things. There are some additional refinements that only sound confusing if I try to explain them...and they are definitely secondary (might not even make that much of a difference, but I implement them) to the tips I have explained above.

Good luck!!!! Let us know on the Dis if you get in!

After winning us the cruise on WWTBAM :rotfl2: my DH will want some free beer :drinking1 Please tell me is you have any hints/help on the food and wine fest beer samplings. I read somewhere you need to sign up in the am?

As for the plan B... with my 18 month DD, I sometimes need a plan C and a plan D :rotfl2: Good to know that the Big Bear is a few steps away :rotfl:

Thanks again for all your great help. I look forward to meeting up with you. Have you considered making a DIS shirt to be easier to spot? The Homemade shirt thread has FABULOUS designs. One with a lime green Mickey head that reads some of the great tips only known about from this board. Check it out ::MickeyMo

The only free tasting for which one actually has to sign up is the beer tasting in England. At least that's the way it was last year. Sign up when World Showcase opens at 11am and be sure to return at least 10 minutes before your seating. Their policy is to give your seat away 5 minutes before the tasting if you have not arrived, so step lively...there are always a few lurkers waiting to grab them up. This tasting accommodates less than 40 people.

LOL...Jo Jo, and others are just outside of the Millionaire building in trailers. they periodically sign autographs etc...also (meet and have pic taken with) Mickey is just up the street in the other direction from Bear. Now you have plans E and F...just in case! :rotfl2:

Thank you...I will do that. Do you think they can match it to the color of my lime green portable folding chair? :rotfl: :rotfl: I found that at a garage sale Sunday for 4 dollars...the college student selling it gave me an odd look when I said I'd been searching all over for that exact color, but didn't expect to find it in a portable sling chair! I think when I return in December I'm going to have to post some color pix of our adventures at Millionaire!

...if I could find a lime green caftan I would be on cloud nine! :cloud9: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We didn't get to the F&W last year, but in the past there has been a Sam Adams beer tasting at the American Pavilion and they recommend you sign up early. We got lucky in that some people who signed up didn't show.

I knew there was a Sam Adams tasting, but didn't know you had to sign up for that one also. Thanks for the heads up. I never got around to doing that one...but I will make it a point this year.

I would just love to be able to spend more than 1 week there at a time. Even just 10 days would be great. I can't imagine being able to spend 2 months there. I think I would flip out if I got that chance. For me, the lottery might be my only shot at ever getting to do that, until I'm retired.

Is the reason you cannot spend more than a week there related to vacation time available (as opposed to finances)? I can't give you any tips about getting more vacation days, but if it's finances, there are lots of great money saving ways to stay 10 days or 2 weeks at a time.

At this time, probably both, but I think with some careful planning, using weekends, etc..., I could probably swing the 2 weeks vacation time without too much trouble. But that still leaves the finances. I know an AP and the free dining right now would really help, but any tips would be appreciated.

Space is limited so the sooner you check on it during the day, the better your chances.

Many times during the year I can get a gold crown resort condo (suite/sleeps 4) near Disney for about $60/night (my cost using my platinum status with Fairfield)...there is also one condo right in the middle of Disney, but when I can get that one for a week it's waaaay more expensive right now (and I usually save that for myself as I did for this upcoming vacation lol)...but I can still get that resort for $60/night if you only want to spend 2 nights there (and your dates are available). It is fabulous and I am only telling you this because I think we real Disney lovers should have a chance to stay in the magic for reasonable prices...and this is something I can do because I'm a platinum FF owner and it's no skin off my nose to do it, although I do have to do the paperwork.

I know this sounds too good...but I really can do this lol...and really truly for $60/night and that includes all taxes etc.

:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 A great big THANK YOU to all those with beer tasting tips! :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

My DH is NOT the Disney lover, I am! :earsgirl: So what ever I can do to keep him happy :love2:

I saw on the web site that EMH for MGM evenings will be on Sunday night (unless they change it for Oct) WWTBAM will have a 10:20pm and a 11:20pm show. Can anyone tell me if they will be very crowded? From past experiences of course

You are really confusing me here...lol

I have heard NOTHING about these revolutionary 10:30pm and 11:20pm shows. NEVER have they done this in my experience, so....

I am reeeeealy skeptical that this is real. Prove me wrong and I will be delighted. Maybe this is something new for MGM EMH...but still, I cannot believe this...if true, I will be overjoyed!

Anyone in the know (for sure) please bring us up to speed! WOW!

WWTBAMPI isn't listed as an EMH attraction and the EMH's I've been too at MGM it hasn't been open. I'm not sure when they had a 10:20pm and 11:20pm show but it wasn't at Easter or in Mid June..
