Okay, I'll try not to sound confusing.

The whole purpose we would be staying at a Universal Resort is to get the 1 hour early entry to harry potter. we're staying for 2 days only.

To best utilize this, we would have to check in to the hotel the first day but not do a theme park that day,

So Day 2 would be 1st day theme park, which would get us in an hour early. That night, would be night 2, so we'd have early entry day 3, correct? it would be our 2nd day with theme park tickets, however we'd need to check out in the morning, so can they hold your bags, or is this method not suggested?

I can elaborate further if that was too confusing. lol

You get early entry and express pass privileges for the day you check in to the day that you check out. So you would have early entry for day 3 also. I'm not trying to do any of your trip planning for you, but I thought you should know, if you don't already, that adding an extra day on your pass would be $13-15 a piece. You can enjoy the express pass privileges for the three days (and perhaps early entry also if you are up to a 7:00 am check in). I have read here that they will hold your bags on checkout day, but since I have never done so myself, I'd wait for a more knowledgable DISer to respond.

I have read from several sources that you can indeed checkout and leave your bags with bell services. Additionally, you can leave your car parked in the hotel parking lot until you get back from the parks that day and are ready to leave.....just get your car and your luggage and you will be on your way. We plan on doing this very thing on our upcoming trip in August which is why I had been looking into it.

With each night that you stay, you actually get two days of early admission and two days of unlimited express.

What we generally do is check in at about 7 am and have bell services hold our luggage. We will get our room keys which give us the early admission and unlimited express. Then we will go to the parks for early entry that day. On our last day, we call and ask for a late checkout and then head to the park for early admission. We do the parks until close to our checkout time and then head over and get our bags to bell services again. Then we go back and enjoy whatever time we have left before we need to head to the airport.

With that schedule we would totally plan to do the check-in process early enough to get to Early Entrance, leave bags with Bell Services, and spend 3 days in the parks instead of 2!

If you have a car, they charge at midnight, so on your last day you can leave our car parked at the hotel until just before then, and not be charged another fee for it.

i've stayed onsite since the hotels went up.

i usually get a night flight out for my return home.
last year returned home in the late afternoon.

if i don't get a late check out of 2ish, i usually check out early morning and leave my belongings with the valet.
i'm there for 10 days and don't do early mornings in the park on my last day.

when i return to the hotel around 7ish pm, i go to valet, show my ticket stub and retrieve my belongings.

the onsite hotels will hold all your items for you until you leave the park.
even if you have already checked out, it doesn't matter.

i love their great service!

Thank you so much everyone. I had no idea you got the express pass that first day. We Will try to get there before 7 am on our first day to get in on the early Harry Potter.

It's just two of us in our group so we should be able to move around fast, especially with the Express pass. This is her first time at Universal and my first time staying on property. It's in the middle of our Disney Vacation so we're excited! Thanks :D

We were there last week and stayed one night at the hrh. We checked out before erly entry and they held our bags for us.
