WW Weekly Weigh In--- Part 2

Tomorrow I go in for my follow up with my doctor. I will find out the results of my blood tests and whether I have diabetes or prediabetes. I'm starting to get a little nervous. I'm just ready to know what it is so I can treat it and hopefully start feeling better.

Being able to treat your disease is what really matters. Our WW told us that she had a couple who led a meeting this week by the DH cutting his diabetic bracelet off of his wrist. I hope that your treatment will help and that you feell better very quickly.

MaryAnne, we hope to show DS (12) Rockefeller Center (he was a little guy the last time we were there), Central Park, FAO Shwartz, Toys R Us and Times Square (at least that is what is on his list). When we were there two weeks ago we hit the Empire State Bldg., Statue of Liberty, we saw the Bull, Ground Zero, China Town and Little Italy (we were with a group of 14 and we did what the group wanted). I am not sure if we would spend the night or not (unless you know of a decent place at a decent rate), we would probably commute in from my inlaws (near West Point).

gottalovethem, I love the shows, that is so much apart of the City experience...I wish I lived closer so I could take better advantage of everything the City has to offer. We never stay the night, we always commute in while staying with family. Maybe MaryAnne has some recommendations!

I still haven't gotten back into my grove with this thread, life keeps getting in the way. I was in the hospital again over the weekend and am working on getting myself problem-free. After I hit 40 it seems like everything is going! I thought losing weight and getting healthier would help, but boy it isn't helping enough.

tiggerlover, my family spent the night in NYC last Christmastime, it was the highlight of my husbands year, he had never been. I know your son will be as mesmerized by the city as my family was and as I am everytime I visit. I went to Hotels.com and got a very good rate for the Hilton New York on 6th Avenue.

When I hit 35 I joked that I started falling apart but that was just little things I was not used to. I can understand what you are saying about not feeling well after 40. This started for me two years ago at 50 and this past two years have been awful. I will share that some of my problems were just age related but I believe that the majority were magnified by my weight. As I lose weight I feel so much better, I noticed the best change after I hit my 10%. I hope that today finds you feeling better than on the weekend and that you continue to feel better.

May I join in on the fun and support? I need the support; I love to eat and don't love to exercise. This is starting my 3rd week of WW. Last night was WI and I was down 2.2 lb last night and 3.6 lb the week before so 5.8 so far! I was a little discouraged last night; I was hoping for atleast another 3lb. I just keep telling myself babysteps--it was slow coming on and will be slow coming off.

Babysteps are the best way to lose weight. I kept hearing amazing losses but those losses were generally on "diets" and those lucky folks put the weight back on and a few extra pounds after they went back to living normally. Keep losing slowly, although my slowly is way slower than your slowly :lmao:and soon you'll have big changes looking at you in the mirror!

*rolls self into thread*

I hang onto water as soon as I put anything processed in my mouth.

Here's to a great week!

Did you have a good time? We are going in December and my DD and I are trying to figure out how to eat and still not gain a lot back. I also hold onto water weight from foods I am not used to eating so I hope we make good choices. We did cancel the DxDDP because I am not known to
waste food I have paid for ;)

anyone else have conversations with themselves? I swear I go back and forth with myself all the time....

every day, my friend. Every day :rolleyes1

I just rejoined on Saturday after a year away and gaining the weight back. I'll be checking in here weekly to give and get motivation.:goodvibes

Hi there ! I just started posting and have been welcomed I look forward to celebrating your losses!

I did well at the party yesterday

Good job at the party. I find that these events are harder for me than going out to dinner.

Well I had a disappointing WI on Monday. I still am not sure what happened but I was up 1.8 pounds. Our center is participating in the Lose for Good program, our center is donating to the local food shelf as well so the gain really upset me. I have my bag already packed to bring with me on Monday, double what I would have brought if I had a loss. I figure that my gain should not be my community's loss. if that makes any sense. Anyway this is a new week, my leader told me to eat all of my points this week and see if it makes a difference. I am on CORE and just was not hungry so the points I did use were not really "good" points.

Does garlic count?

No, garlic is free AFIK

I wanted to post last night's dinner. It is CORE but I think it it is point friendly.

I doubled it but should not have, it makes a lot. I did double the seasoning and liked it. I also did not put cheese on top of the rice, I was afraid the veggie shreds that I used would not melt, but they did.

Bean Burrito Bake

1 pound meatless soy crumbles or core ground beef (I used beef, I cannot
stand soy beef)
1/8 cup reduced-sodium taco seasoning (1/2 packet)
3/4 cup water
15 oz canned yellow corn, no salt added, drained
14 oz canned diced tomatoes with green chilies (mild) (I used a can of
rotel)
15 oz fat-free canned refried beans
5 oz tomato paste
2 cup ff Shredded Cheddar Cheese (i used shredded soy cheese)
4 cup cooked brown rice (i used 2 1/2c cooked bulgur
1 medium onion(s)

Instructions

Dice onion and saute in large skillet with soy crumbles
(or use 1 lb of Core acceptable ground meat).
Add water and 1/2 packet of taco seasoning.
Simmer until sauce thickens.
Add canned veggies, tomato paste and beans.
Spray a casserole dish and fill with veggie/bean/soy mixture.
Top with 1 c. of shredded nf cheddar cheese.
Cover with cooked brown rice. Sprinkle remaining cheese over top.
Bake covered at 350 until heated through, 20 min.
Remove cover and continue baking until cheese is melty, 5 min.

Tiggerlover: Yes there is a Zoo in Central Park. Don't forget to see the Disney Store when you are there too. It's like one you've never seen before -- 3 floors!
Most hotels in the city are pretty pricey. If you in the West Point area, I'm assuming you'll take the bus into Port Authority? As we get closer you can talk. If you do come into Rockefeller Center, I will come down and say hello. I work right in that building.

Tiggerlover, feel better soon. Being ill and in the hospital is not fun!

Wow, I had no clue there was a zoo in the park! And a three story Disney Store, wow (where is it?) We usually drive in and park for the day, gives us more flexibility over the bus.

I do feel better today, thanks.

Eeyores Butterfly, how did you make out at the doctor?

It's official: It's prediabetes. Considering the alternative, that is great news. We're going to try to control it with diet and exercise (which will help with WW). She doesn't want to put me on medication because my blood sugar is so erratic and I'm prone to epsidodes of hypoglycemia. She told me she wants me to start keeping snacks in my purse such as nuts or crackers and peanut butter for when it happens. I'm going ot have to look for some good low points snacks and make sure that I start figuring those into my day. I'm sure it will be easier once I meet with the dietician on Friday and have a better idea of what I'll need to do.

Eeyoresbutterfly - I'm glad you are seeing a doctor and getting things taken care of. You have a great fighting chance! Hang in there with WW and speak with the dietician. I bet you can put a wonderful plan in place that will really help you lose weight and stay in control of your health. :wizard:

Nancy - sorry about the gain, but if you stick with it, I'm sure you can get it back off. But I HATE those gain periods (of course, that could be the reason too ;) ).

Anyone have have a good recipe for a dish to take to a football party?

Good morning everyone. I haven't had much computer time this week, but have been on track, and after my first week I am down 6 pounds!! I am very excited about that because it brought me back down under 200. Last time I got under 190, I thought I'd never hit 200 again, but I did. This time I will stay below 200!! I really like core. I am going to storyland in NH this weekend, and bringing a bunch of core foods, and saving my 35 flex points. I just love weight watchers, and when I stick with it, it works for me. My big challenge is sticking it out for more than a couple weeks, once the numbers slow down. My brother and fam and I are planning a vacation for april, hopefully a cruise, so that is also big motivation. I also have to remember how much better I feel when my pants aren't tight!:rotfl:

gottalovethem- I don't have any good appe recipes, but when I go to party I love to bring a trifle- I buy storebought angel cake and break it up into little pieces, and then mix one box of ff sugarfree vanilla pudding with skim milk, and stir in a big tub of the fat free cool whip, and layer that with the cake and on top of the pudding put fruit- uzually strawberries, blueberries, and canned peaches, but any fruit will work. It's so good, and makes a big bowl. the whole thing I figured out was about 52 points, not that I've eaten it all myself, but if you figure you eat 1/12th, it's 4-5 points/ serving. That bean buritto bake sounds good too, and you could possibly serve it as an appetizer with chips.

Eeyores Butterfly-I'm glad it's the pre-diabetes. I'm sure you'll be able to make the diet and exercise changes needed, and get your lab work all back to normal again. Good luck with the dietician.

tiggerlover-:grouphug: Sorry to hear you were in the hosp, and hope you are feeling much better now. It's been a rough year for you. Things must get better soon. Hang in there, Deb.

Nancyg56- Sorry you had a gain this week. It is so much more frustrating when you don't know why. It might just be fluid and will come back off next week. They told us at our meeting yesterday about the lose for good campaign, but said that gains do not count against the losses, so don't feel bad. You'll lose for them next week. The meeting I just joined is big and the whole group lost 72 pounds. That's a lot of food for the hungry. It's a great campaign.
That bean buritto bake sounds awesome!! I think I'll try it next week, and it looks like it would last me a few days.

Pei4ever- Welcome and congrats on your loss to date!! Keep up the great work.

Have a great losing day everyone!!:cheer2:

My DD suffered from hypoglycemia for what seemed to be forever. In the past six months following CORE she has had her sugar under control. Her Dr told her that all of her numbers are better than she has ever seen them. I don't know which plan you are following but I think that combining whole grains with good sources of protein an healthy low sugar impact snacks will help you as much as it has helped her.

WOW! What a great loss!

I'll see if I can find some appetizer recipes, but one of the first ones that comes to mind this time of year is an apple and FF caramel dip. Fresh apples and warm dip....YUM!

Hello all! I have been extremely busy at work as we are moving down one floor in the building and taking the entire floor. I kid you not yesterday I was there from 7 am to 11 pm and walked 8.25 miles, today was not as bad, only 7 am to 9 pm and I only walked 7.25 miles!

Welcome to our new memebers, you've all been chatty these past two days.
(((hugs))) to those who need it.

All the physcial work and walking in the office paid off this week. I was down 4 lbs. but more then the weight loss what i'm most proud of is they are ordering in food every night. Last night was chinese. I looked at the menu and not one item was steamed (it was like a pre-fixed already made slap it in your paper container places. I knew I was weighing in this morning and no way was I going to eat 20+ points of terrible food full of sodium last night, so I said No thank you, I have my own dinner and made myself a tuna on a bed of salad and ate that. Tonight they did order from an organic place so I had a turkey and salad with the dressing on the side. I figured out it had to be about 9 points but I knew I had it and I had no problem using them for something healthy.

We've got three days of physical labor ahead of us at work (not sure when HR joined Office Services but...... ) anyway if I don't get on till next week, I hope everyone has a great on program weekend.

Mary Anne- good for you! The last time I had Chinese food I retained a lot of water. Never again! If I gain or just maintain I want it because I ate something decadent that I don't look back at as a waste, not something in a white box.

Congratulations Maryanne!! 4 pounds to bring you over 40!!!!!:cool1: That is so awesome!! Nice work on the chinese. It can be so tempting, but you were smart and it paid off.

I'm heading to NH for the weekend, and am bringing a cooler full of core foods, and will use my points for the extras. I haven't really missed eating bread yet, but we'll be having picnic lunches, so I bought the ww wheat sandwich rolls which look really good.

Have a great losing weekend everyone!!:cheer2:

Holy Cow Maryanne! That's alot of walking! Congrats on the 4 lb loss:banana:

Shooping for a treadmill. ANyone have one they love?

I weighed in this morning and I lost 4.6 pounds this week.:cool1: I'm so excited. Great start to the plan. I'm really motivated this time around so I hope I can reach Lifetime Membership this time.

Have a great week everyone!!!

Whoo hoo!!!!:cool1: That is an awesome loss!! Keep up the great work and you'll reach lifetime!!

Knovak - congratulations, that's wonderful! Keep up the good work.

natenapril - sorry, no clue about the treadmill:confused3

mikamah - how'd the weekend away go with your core food cooler?

Nancy/Maryann - you encouraged me to NOT have Chinese food and I had a decent weigh-in, thanks!

I'm down 2 pounds, that makes 31!:yay:

I'm down 2 pounds, that makes 31!
Congratulations on the 2 pounds, and a new milestone over 30 pounds!!!:dance3: That is fabulous!!!:dance3:
I did ok this weekend. I definitely made some good choices, but drank quite a bit of wine, had 2 and a half pieces of pizza friday night with some guacamole and chips, and at storyland saturday had ice cream, shaved ice, and popcorn. Went out for dinner and ordered a salad with grilled chicken. I didn't keep track of my 35, but figure I probably ate somewhere in the 40s for non core points. We walked a lot saturday, and I took a 30 min walk yesterday, and today I've done a watp video. Yesterday I was back on core, and today as well. It's definitely easier for me monday-friday with planning for work etc.
Another motivating factor for me, I'm going to plan a trip to wdw in january. We were going to take a cruise april vacation, but flights are insane, but over mlk weekend we will save over 400$ each on a flight to florida. So now whenever i feel like snacking, I'm coming here to plan instead. I'd like to get back to the low 180s by jan, which will be about 1 pound per week. Definitely doable if I can keep motivated.

Mikamah - a pound a week is a great goal. I hope to get to 50 pounds by January, which is at a similar rate. Let's keep each other going! Love the planning idea, that's much more fun and gives you a purpose for staying on track. It sounds like you made some great choices over the weekend. And that is what WW is about, not to deprive yourself, but to make smart choices. And if you eat "more" then you get on track the next meal and keep it going. That is a way to lose weight and make it a lifestyle you can live with. Great job!!:woohoo:

I lost 1.5 lbs this week. Happy to see a loss. I haven't really been exercising.
I am shooting for 4-5 lbs a months.
Now I need to fix my weight loss ticker:cool1:
